I have been having a conflict as of late, and I suppose the "Conflict Resolution" board would be the correct place to post about it. Now, as many of you have probably guessed, I'm a lurker on the board. I never post much and I send in segments. If you pm me, it might take a while, but you'll more than likely get a response. I've never started fights, picked on anyone to excess, and have generally kept to myself, but as the late Owen Hart would say, "enough is enough and it's time for a change."
For a wrestling federation, this place continually becomes less and less about wrestling every week. Now I know what a few of you will say about creativity, and that's well and good. Lord forbid I let the Mozart of make-believe wrestling deprive the masses of his work. The thing is, my argument has nothing to do with the creative aspect.
Each week, contenders are selected for titles and they have a shot, but why? I don't see many Number 1 Contendership matches or matches that would even hint at any type of progression. Championships are irrelevent because there is no explanation why so-and-so have a shot at the belt. In fact, if I could pick a title that was more prestigious than any other right now, I would have to say that it would be the Heavyweight title because there are occasional tournaments that justify who gets a shot. You know, I can't even tell you why I'm getting shots at the International title other than Senator and I are in a feud.
Another thing is that ACW isn't competitive anymore. When the EOTR was going on, I tried to get a segment in to every show because it was fun! There was stuff at stake! Right now, there really is no motivation to send in segments. I miss a show? Big whoop, it just means that... well, it means nothing really. I might've lost grounds on the oh-so-mysterious calculations, but those are so mysterious that it doesn't bother me at all. It won't mean I'm any closer to a title shot because the only folks that get those are either competing for a lower ranked title or are in a feud with the champ.
Also, is it just me, or has feedback taken a huge step backwards as of late? At the end of shows, people used to comment on what segments they liked and which ones they thought needed to be worked on. Believe it or not, ladies and gentlemen, that is helpful to newer members or those of us who have no idea where we're currently ranked! Now, though, people just sound like sheep as they baa "good show". Good show? Well what was so good about it? Tell me, no, tell us!
Now, I may be the only person who thinks these things, but I'd like to think that I'm not. What I'd like to see is the return of competition and meaningful post-show feedback. It could be as simple as a ranking system and matches based off of contendership for title shots. I'm tired of the more competitive aspects of e-fedding and realism getting pushed aside in favor of... well... you tell me.
Love and kisses,
