Its not that big a deal really, plus they are adding more stuff, like with a netflix suscription you can have Xbox parties all watching hulu together or something like that. They also are adding something else I forget what it is, but basically I dunno. There are more features, and they have been adding more and more so a price hike isnt such a big deal, and it's not by very much either. Go figure that the kid whose parents crammed a silver spoon in his mouth says it's "no big deal." You completely missed the whole point of my post, but then again when you live outside the norm, you probably don't get it.

TK of course brings the insults.
All Im saying is that its 10 dollars. In one year. Not that big a deal. Im sure you make enough to spare ten dollars in a year TK. And not to mention that in the time since the original price was set, there have been many updates and increased features to Live.

It's online console gaming. It's still a very new concept in comparison to other gaming. It's understandable for a company to take these measures.
Me? I'm not a fan of online gaming. I'd much prefer to play games with friends there and then, with a couple of beers each, even if it means having a smaller screen. I'm the rare case of finding online gaming rather offputting. Then again, I only even play consoles every couple of months.

And not to mention that in the time since the original price was set, there have been many updates and increased features to Live. As I said, it's 10 dollars here. But it is just not Miicrosoft, it's everyone. Comic books go up, it's just a few cents here. DVD's go up, it is just a few cents there. The overall big picture is that you are paying a whole lot more for a whole lot less these days. I understand inflation and that the nature of the system is to have price increases as time progresses, but the rate things are going up is not meeting what people are earning at their jobs. Things are becoming broken adding to more problems for "Generation Stupid." Of course, you haven't worked a day in your life so I don't expect you to understand.

Also guys, let's refrain from the insults. It's a debatable discussion, but one that doesn't need the personal insults.

I agree with TK's points in that it's nickle and diming everyone. I went for lunch today and they hiked up the price of my Jalapeno Poppers over the past two years to $0.80 a clip, from $0.50. It's only thirty cents, but if I eat four of them, twice a week, that's an extra $2.50. Over a year that's $130.00 ... for Jalapeno Poppers. It's $10.00 extra now, but if it's another $10.00 next year, and the year after. It's suddenly becoming a bigger deal. I'm trying to remember the economic term for it, where in gradual price increases are instituted to prevent consumer backlash.
Especially considering this is discretionary income we're talking about, something that is gradually receding, ten dollars is a fair bit Freeman. In fact, that's often the 'minimum payment' on a credit card and if you miss that payment, you're credit score goes down two hundred points, the bank hikes the interest on your mortgage and if you're on a variable plan which was all the rage three years ago at the top of the boom, there goes your house ... over ten dollars.
Don't think it can happen, look on the internet. There are people out there who would do a lot for ten dollars of discretionary income.

Isn't it called Inflation Above Price or something similar? Either way it's capitalism at its finest. Unles people do something about it, it'll remain as it is.

See though, that's the thing. No one is going to do anything about it. Yeah, we bitch and moan on internet forums but the vast majority of people will still just pay the extra money and then forget about it.
On a larger economic scale, it's freaking me out that people aren't doing stuff about the rising prices despite the recessions. Don't know if people have been following the Irish situation but the government are making a massive balls of things over here with many predicting the country will go tits up by Xmas. And people bitch. And people moan. But nothing else is happening. We used to be a country which would riot and protest. But now we sit on our arses, ciomplaining about how unfair everything is but not taking any measures to actually protect ourselves.
Still, I can't overly complain. I'm getting €150 a week on unemployment benifits, which is doing me quite nicely at the moment <_<

$150 unemployment? That's pretty solid. I ran it through a converter and it's more than university is costing me.
Also, I believe you're correct Dan, and Dave, blame the IRA.

But now we sit on our arses, ciomplaining about how unfair everything is but not taking any measures to actually protect ourselves Welcome to the end of the Western World. It is happening now. Most of countries were established with a similar chain of events Then they grew strong through the HARD work and SACRIFICES of those who came before us. Time passed. We got fat, lazy, we opened our boarders and we lost all the redeeming qualities that made us, us. We have shunned the ways of the old though they took us to such great heights. Now an entire generation of youth has been brainwashed by the media and anarchists to give it ALL away. Western World I bid thee farewell.

Here, we see Thunderkiss being his usual chipper self.
But in all honesty, I've basically come to realize that nobody gives a good God damn about what anyone thinks. You can complain, you can riot, you can barge in with an automatic weapon, but the fact of the matter is they're still making money, and this country is too apathetic to inspire any real action. If you decide "I'm not paying, because I don't have to take this shit," there's always three people who are better off than you saying "That sucks, but I can pay it." Many of these companies aren't even doing this because they need to. Seriously, if Microsoft doesn't charge a bit extra for Xbox LIVE, are they going under? Absolutely not. Are DVD distributors going under if they don't charge $15 instead of $13? No. But people are fine with paying it, and so it's not going to change.

To be honest, TK is right. China holds over 1.2 TRILLION in US debt that can be called in. Other foreign investors own twice that in the same fashion. Essentially, the consumerism of the United States could end it as when that debt is called, you will be forced to declare banruptcy or war, and this one will be nuclear. There's a reason the US needs to control the supply of nuclear arms, Weapons Grade Uranium and other things needed to make nukes.
