Ridley approaches Skurai quickly without a hint of caution; Skurai lashes out but Ridley brushes his arm aside and grabs Skurai by the neck, lifting him for a massive chokeslam. Almost as soon as Skurai hits the mat, Ridley hauls him up again for a T Bone suplex and then tests the water with a cover; Skurai busts out just a fraction before 2. Both men rise to their feet, and Ridley attempts to whip Skurai to the ropes; Skurai though reverses and nails Ridley with a Twist of Fate on his return. Skurai pins, but Ridley is away by 1.5. As Ridley stands back up, Skurai signals for the gore and charges to try and drive Ridley into the post, but Ridley moves aside; undaunted Skurai jumps up on to the top of the corner post and gambles by backflipping straight off; the gamble pays generously as Skurai lands directly on Ridley, who is rushing to the corner to try and trap Skurai there. Skurai shifts into a pin, but Ridley throws him off before the referee even counts 1. The pair lock up and struggle violently; Ridley claws at Skurai’s face as he tries to gouge his eyes. One of the old wounds from Uncensored is opened afresh, and a trickle of blood runs down Skurai’s cheek; Ridley gives Skurai an untidy facebuster, and as Skurai rolls over on to his back Ridley licks the blood from his fingers with a sick smile. Skurai looks at him for a second, and then stuns everyone by flipping straight from his back into a standing position, showing he is more than able to continue.
Skurai has had enough of Ridley’s mind games; his aggressive personality drives him forward and he kicks Ridley with a roundhouse to the head to stun him long enough to hit one of his preferred sitout powerbombs. Skurai drives Ridley to the mat with incredible power, but Ridley’s resilience is legendary and he rolls away before Skurai has any chance to pin. Ridley stands, and he dodges Skurai’s next attack to grab him by the hair; he runs forward and bundles Skurai out through the ropes before launching into an Undertaker – style no hands plancha, that impacts into Skurai’s chest as he gets back up and sends both men down hard to the crash matting. WCW is getting increasingly nervous, and now in an attempt to protect Ridley’s belt he begins to attack Skurai; Ginger hurries around the ring but he is hesitant to go up against WCW. The referee sees the attack and is angry, but his anger is nothing compared to that of Ridley, who pulls WCW off and throws him back against the security barrier, to Ginger and everyone else’s surprise; Ridley clearly wants to defeat Skurai himself, in as painful a manner as possible. To that end, Ridley uses his Torpedoes Away throw to send Skurai into the steps, and the flow of blood from Skurai’s wounds increases; so too, however, does Skurai’s own rage and he flies at Ridley, beating him with both hands and feet before whipping him into the steps in revenge. The second impact splits the steps into their component parts, and Skurai powerbombs Ridley onto a pointed part of one section; the crowd audibly winces at the impact, and Ridley clutches at his back, showing genuine pain for the first time in the match. The referee is still counting, and Skurai rolls Ridley back into the ring before covering; he is awarded a count of 2 before Ridley forces a shoulder up.
Both men are now feeling the effects of the match, but if anything they now step up their assault on one another to a new level. Ridley fights like a demon, kicking and slashing at Skurai with all his strength; as Skurai tries to recover Ridley climbs up to the top of the nearest post before leaping into a beautiful Dragonrana. Skurai, though, is not out of the match yet; with the crowd roaring him on he catches Ridley in mid air before countering with a stunning Styles Clash. The ring shakes at the impact and Skurai pins; Ridley feels the power of the blow and Skurai earns a count of 2.5. Ridley is close to meltdown, and he glares at WCW; the Chairman climbs on the apron and makes a commotion, diverting the referee’s attention. From his chest protector, Ridley produces a short length of chain; with full intent he wraps it around Skurai’s throat and begins to throttle him.
Skurai begins to choke, and realises he has to act immediately; Skurai is a powerfully built man, and he manages to drag both himself and Ridley over to the ropes close to Ginger. WCW’s tactics misfire badly as the ref misses Ginger giving Ridley a double fingered eyepoke; the sudden pain makes Ridley loosen his grip just a fraction, and Skurai braces himself against the ropes before using both feet to kick Ridley away. The chain drops to the floor, and Skurai seizes his chance; wrapping it around his right hand, he punches Ridley in the face several times until Ridley too is bleeding. Skurai quickly discards the chain, throwing it away from him and away from WCW’s corner; He whips Ridley into one of the posts and then begins to pull him up to set up for the 500 channels. Ridley is hindered by having his own blood in his eyes, but he fights for all he is worth; the crowd is on its feet as the two men struggle at the top of the post. Finally Skurai is successful and the 500 channels hits; Skurai pins and everbody counts 1……2…..thr – No! Somehow Ridley’s arm is in the air, and then he is standing back up, a psychotic look in his eyes. Skurai is astonished, and before he can react Ridley delivers a crushing Superkick that sends Skurai crashing to the canvas. With an evil grin Ridley hoists Skurai up into the straightjacket; Skurai writhes under intense pain, and Ridley enjoys every second as he constricts with all his might. Skurai’s head begins to droop, and his vision gets hazy………..the referee comes over for a closer look and raises his hand for the first time. The crowd is going nuts, willing Skurai to respond; in his mind, Skurai sees a series of images – Flea after the original TV title battle, Gary’s courageous stand against the druids…..the referee raises his hand a second time…….his own agony at Uncensored…….the referee raises his hand for the third and final time……..and the horrific image of a crushed emergency vehicle, with a flatline tone howling into the darkness………..
