So, YES, Omega Effect has passed...and I should have gotten this up sooner. But did not. BUT HERE IT IS. THE SPECIAL EDITION! This is not taking into account anything that happened after Omega Effect. And, yeah, it's not great. It's hard to write about a lot of stuff when you only have one show to write about. From now on there will be two a month, because everybody said that is better....so yeah....whatever...here it is. It's not that great. It was so late I rushed the end...
15. AK
And starting off our list...we have AK! AK certainly put on a great performance. AK and Scott have gone against each other before, but the match did not reach a satisfactory conclusion. This time however, the match ended cleanly. AK showed an amazing effort, and had one of the best matches of the night with Scott, but she just fell short of winning. Her outstanding effort however, does get her a spot on this list. While AK lost, and some other people who did not make this list, such as Ross Lambert and Ricky Falco won, AK's performance was simply a little better. In a night where everybody was at their best, it's hard to rank a top 15, and even getting spot 15 on this list is great. If AK HAD managed a win then she would surely be higher, but even so, she did a great job at Omega Effect.
14. Rattlesnake
And next we have Rattlesnake. His open challenge was apparently going to go unanswered, but then all of a sudden...who answers it? HUNTER! We can get into that later on this list, let's stick with Snake. The guy was going against a tough opponent. Snake didn't even know that his Senatorial Stablemate was alive, and had about a minute to prepare for his match. Nevertheless, he put up a very good fight. The match was close, and while Snake lost in the end, he was definitely impressive. Was it THE most impressive performance of the night? No. However, the fact that he had to face Hunter, a very formidable oppponent, with no time to prepare puts him higher than AK. It's gotta be hard seeing somebody you thought has been dead for months, and then having to wrestle them a few seconds later. Even with that in mind, Snake did a great job. What's next for Snake? Who knows...maybe he'll finally be able to settle things with Cobra. Personally I think if Cobra accepted the open challenge, it would have been WAY more awesome. Fans of Snake have one question...How can he hit Cobra with the snakebite??!!
13. Nick Durden
Well, this guy can't be very happy...his night did not get off to a great start, when his girlfriend Renix was fired. That has nothing to do with his placing on this list, though. He and Kudo took each other to the limit, and in the end, neither of them were able to get a win. So how do you rank the opponents in a draw? Not easily. Durden did manage to get the last pinfall to tie it up in the last few seconds, so maybe that should give him the edge? Well, to be fair, Kudo was able to maintain a lead until the last three seconds, and if Durden had been a second slower, Kudo would have had the win. While Durden may have put out a heroic effort to prevent a loss, in the end it seemed that it just wasn't good enough. That's simply the way it is. Tough luck for Durden, but nobody can think less of him, as he put up a great effort against a very formidable opponent. And hey, he didn't lose. Maybe things with Kudo weren't completely settled, but he's got other worries now. Revenge on Lambert? Well, that oughta be interesting...they're teaming together this month...Durden better hope he can stay on his game like he was at Omega Effect, because he can be impressive soon.
12. Kudo Yasuda
Ah, Such an awesome name. After a great match with Durden, Kudo could not manage to win. It was close however. Kudo had a lead, but Durden was able to tie it up at the last second. If only Kudo could have avoided Durden for one more second, he would have had a win. Well...tough for him, but still, a great performance by Kudo in that match. (Well...everybody had a great performance...it's tiring saying it over and over again.) Kudo also showed up watching Scott's match, and one can only wonder why. Scott's had some harsh words for Kudo recently...will the two be wrestling again soon? Who knows. But let's stay on topic. Kudo's ironman match with Durden was a nice stiff match, and it's always fun to watch Mr. KO in action. Because of him technically being closer to winning the ironman match, he gets the spot RIGHT over Durden.
11. Scott Andrews
And then we have Scott. Scott vs AK was an amazing match, and Scott Andrews pulled out ALL the stops. In the end, when he hit his amazing double underhook...flipping...piledriver...thing...he was able to secure the win. Beating AK is not something that is easy to do, yet Scott pulled it off. Scott has been on a role lately. Not just in the ring, but in his personal life as well. Things with Jessie are back to normal, Butch is totally owned, and Scott is livin' large. A successful relationship, a successful career; the guy can't want much more. I doubt life could get much better for him. His match was one of the most competitive of the night, and it was very even throughout. It could have gone either way, but since Scott does manage to get the 3 count, he also manages to get a higher spot on the list than AK. While he didn't make the top ten...he was very, very close.
10. Jake Cheng
And to start the Top 10, we have our first defending champion. Jake's light heavyweight title reign has not been particularly eventful so far, but in this special referee match, he showed why he holds the belt. Jonny Spade put up a good fight, but in the end Cheng managed to defend his title against Spade (In Spade's home town it should be added). While Cheng didn't win cleanly, it was still an impressive victory. Some may argue that he should be higher on the list, but...honestly the Top 10 was a very hard call. Cheng was one of three defending champs at Omega Effect, and he should definately be proud of his match.
9. Jay Zero
And now we will come to...possibly one of the most unhappiest men after Omega Effect has ended. Zero thought he had no chance of losing the jail cell match for the International Title, and while the match was in progress it looked like he had a chance. Jay Zero has been a fast rising star, and this could have been his chance to shine, however it was not to be. After a very good performance, he was knocked unconscious, and that was the end for him. Freeman managed to handcuff Zero to the cell, and from there, Zero could do nothing except watch the ending of the match. Maybe if Zero had not been cuffed, he could have left Omega Effect a double champion. He was definately the person who was screwed the most out of a victory at the PPV, and because he put on a good showing in a high profile match, and because he really did not get a fair chance to win, he scores high on the list.
8. Yoko Satoshi
Well looky here…Omega Effect had some major returns, and here we have one of them. The middle spot on this list goes to Yoko Satoshi, who shocked many people as she returned to ACW after being taken out of action by brain injuries last year. Her contract was terminated, but it seems that Yoko is too amazing for contract terminations. She had a nice win over Rena at the PPV, and seems to be right back on top where she left. If she had faced an opponent who was actually doing more in the company right now, she may have been higher, but the fact that this match was her return match does give her a bit of a bump on the list. The question to ask yourselves is this though: Is any title safe now??!!
7. Hunter
WHOAMG HUNTER! The guy’s…ALIVE! In a surprising twist, Hunter answered Rattlesnake’s open challenge and was able to defeat the Senatorial Stable leader (Or is he still the leader…now that Hunter’s back?!). Many people were surprised that Hunter was here, and no-selling death certainly gives Hunter a good spot on this list. Hunter hasn’t wrestled for nearly a year though…so one can only imagine if he may have some ring rust. It didn’t show at Omega Effect however.
6. Jason Freeman
Some people may not be very happy with their International Champion after Omega Effect. In a huge Jailcell Match, Freeman managed to defend, and in the process he retired Santiago Rivera. If only he had won a little more cleanly…After handcuffing Jay Zero to the ropes, there was nobody to interfere with him taking out Santiago. A cheap victory for sure, but the match had no disqualifications…so what can you do? Freeman seemed a bit angry earlier about his position in the company. Can the momentum stay on his side?
5. Senator
And the top 5 starts off with one of the three men in the main event. It’s hard to rank people on a show such as this, as I said before, and this is an example of how hard it is. Where does Senator go? Well, obviously, he ends up at number 5. How so? Senator did not win at Omega Effect, but he did put up a great showing in the main event. Everybody did. There wasn’t a member of the three who didn’t put everything they had out in the ring in the main event, and it resulted in an amazing match. Senator was the one who took the fall, however his performance in the match definitely gives him a high spot. There is only one main event of Omega Effect a year. Senator’s performance (as well as the performance of his two opponents) will go down in history, and for that reason, Senator ranks highly on the list.
4. Thunderkiss
And the number 4 slot goes to another man who didn’t win his match. Thunderkiss hasn’t even been in the company for a year, and yet he was a participant in the highest profile singles match of the Omega Effect card. Some people could say that it was almost as big as the main event. It wasn’t against just any opponent either. Thunderkiss had to go one on one with a legend. The Macho Man RDK. Before the match, for the first time…Thunderkiss was almost nervous. Could he perform in the biggest match of his career? Yes, he definitely could. In one of the best matches of the night (This and the main event), Thunderkiss proved that he could do just as well as RDK. He even managed to pin RDK for the 3 count, although the ref was out. In the end, Thunderkiss was unable to win, but he did shake the hand of RDK, and prove that he is definitely going to be big in this company. It seems the torch has been passed.
3. RDK
And of course, RDK was the winner in the dream match of Thunderkiss vs RDK. Honestly, there isn’t much more to say. As said before, the match was amazing, and that’s all there is to it. RDK managed a victory in a very close match, and it was great to see RDK wrestle one more time.
2. BK London
Ah, BK. As stated before, the main event was amazing, but out of all the performances in the match, BK’s was the most memorable. Everybody was putting everything they had in to win, and it was back and forth between the three of them the whole time. BK definitely had the spot of the night though, as he hit the From Brooklyn to London to the outside of the ring, slamming both Wyvern and Senator through tables. Not only that, but BK came SO close to winning. He had the Corporate Lock on Wyvern, and if only he had been a second earlier he would have won. Wyvern tapped, but it was too late. He had already gotten the pin. BK came as close as he could to a win, and if this hadn’t been the Omega Effect main event, he may have gotten first on this list, just because of his performance. While he lost, he was the most impressive in the match, and definitely proved that he deserves another title run.
1. Wyvern.
And the winner of your Omega Effect main event. A lot has been said about this match. Wyvern managed to win, and did very well the whole match, especially when he hit the Nuclear Option on Senator. He may have been slightly outperformed by BK London, but like I said…he won the Omega Effect main event. That’s all you need to know. The reign of Wyvern continues. His stable seems to be breaking down, but will that affect his reign? It’s a new ACW year, and Wyvern better be ready. The Lethal Lottery tournament is rolling in. Yoko and Hunter are back. And will Starkweather set his eyes on the belt? Wyvern is not going to have an easy time…but he has proven that he deserves to be called a champion. Only time will tell if he can keep it up.
