Appearance:
While not the biggest or strongest that the Soviet Union has produced, Vlad is defiantly a product of the Red Army. Rigorous drilling gives him a well-built physique. His skin is paler than most, due to the long winters in Siberia, and he sports short, dark hair. In the ring, his attire consists of red half tights, with a Hammer and Sickle insignia on either side. On his feet, he wears red leggings, with yellow and black trim, complemented by red elbow pads.
Biography/Background:
Vladimir was born in the Red enigma known as the Soviet Union. His parents were steadfast communists who detested capitalism, and every country, or person who stood for the ideal. What little Vlad remembers from his parents is the unbridled hate for America and it’s capitalism. Vlad grew up in a small town in the harshest colds of Siberia, where the winters are long, and food was in short supply. His father was never employed for long, due to his love for vodka. That’s where almost all of their money went. Vlad’s father always used to tell him that all of their problems would be solved if the USSR were to become the prominent world power. If his father had one redeeming value, it was the love he instilled in young Vladimir for his sister Illyana. He loved her dearly, but he still hated America and the capitalists. His sister tried to show Vladimir that not all of the world’s problems were caused by the US and capitalism, his love for his sister would have surely caused him to believe this; if not for the event that changed his life forever.
When Vladimir was of age, he was immediately conscripted into the Red Army. He was trained in combat for several months until an emergency called him into action prematurely. The Soviet’s allies, Red China, called for assistance with the rebel nation of Tibet, Vlad’s company was nearest to the rogue state and they were sent to the Himalayas to capture the country. During their trek, Vlad got separated from his company and became lost in the mountains. Succumbing to cold and hunger, he passed out and the Red Army designated him MIA.
Luckily for Vladimir, there were those who were not out for his blood in the mountains that day. A group of Tibetan monks came upon the young Siberian. The monks took him to the monastery and nursed him back to health. The Tibetans housed Vladimir in the temple, and he learned the ways of the monk there. They taught him secrets of strength, endurance, agility, and above all their Martial Arts. The monks were secluded from the politics of the outside world, so Vlad’s views, about capitalism, were unchanged. With the help of the monks, he had become well versed in the languages of the world, and set out for life outside the monastery.
Vladimir’s first stop was Japan, where he put his Martial Arts skills to the test. He was a fierce competitor, winning many tournaments. He began to train within a small wrestling school, where he learned to merge his Martial Arts with technical, mat based wrestling into a finely tuned machine. Vladimir then made his way to North America to embarrass the Pro Wrestlers there. Finding little work, he found a small but promising federation willing to give the upstart a shot. It is here that Vladimir hopes to make an impact on pro wrestling, and hopefully win over some sympathizers to his cause. All the while, Vladimir searches for his sister Illyana, who was said to have moved to North America after the collapse of his beloved homeland.
Vlad's initial tour through ACW was something of a blur. He racked up an impressive winning streak in his first couple of matches garnering much respect and a little fear from the community. His trademark at the time was the Soviet Union vs. the World Tour, where he would go up against wrestlers of different nationalities to prove the worth of his motherland. When push came to shove and he was pitted against the Senator in the vaunted United States vs. Soviet Union match the best Vlad could manage was a draw against the legendary Senator. After the he remained on the downlow, eventually succumbing to a knee injury and taking a few months off.
Upon his return, Vlad couldn't buy a victory and tried to drink his sorrows away on the ACW Carribean tour. Unfortunatly for him, he got caught up in the undercity of a tropical island and was wounded quite viciously, only immediate experimental surgery could save him. He donned the metal mask and green cloak adopting the persona of Dr. Doom. The Doctor hit a good stride but began to lose touch with reality, the mask seeming to become his soul. It would take the intervention of his long-lost sister to help him defeat his inner demon and free himself from Dr. Doom's clutches. After this Vlad took a long time off to reflect what had truly happened and has now come out of his long meditation to purge the world of the evils he had once harboured within himself.
Entrance Info:
The arena darkens to a blood red light as Mad World begins its haunting melody on the sound system. The titantron shows images not of Vlad's match highlights but of those less fortunate individuals whom Vlad ahs taken to defending. Vlad enters the main viewing area draped in his dark robe and makes his way towards the ring, entering without any gestures towards the crowd removing his cloak before the match begins.
