Real Name: William Coburn
Hometown: Ft. Lancaster, TX
Age: 58
Height: 6'2
Weight: 250
Appearence: Looks very similar to an older John Wayne, and dresses the part with an old leather vest, red button up shirt, worn jeans, cowboy boots, and of course, the hat.
History: Duke Cogburn was born and raised under the name of William Coburn. After getting out of the Navy, he decided to go into pro wrestling. Cogburn got his ring name from his very close resemblance to John Wayne. He resented the jokes at first, but soon grew into the role, and lived life on the edge, knowing that he'd get work regardless, due to his strong reputation in the ring. Helped found the Texas Independant Pro Wrestling Federation in the late 1980's, and is now a seven time champion for the group, holding the record by three reigns. Retired shortly to a ranch in California for a short time in the 1990's, but grew restless and homesick, heading back to his home state. Had a heated feud over the title with young upstart, Stan H. Johnston, in which he lost the title. When Johnston went to the Dwight Gym, partly on Cogburn's reccomendation, he managed to win the title back for the seventh time. Still runs the TIPWF, but is no longer champion there. Cogburn still has an eye for starting fights, and despite his gruff demeanor, takes a great deal of satisfaction out of being in the industry at his age. Somehow, still is in decent shape, and while a limited brawler, puts on solid matches.
Finisher: Badman Sleeper
Description: A standard sleeper hold, but much more effective due to the fact that once Cogburn sinks it in, he doesn't let go for any stinkin' reason.
