So since we all loved arguing about Rock/Cena let's open up the floor again. Last night who shone more - The Rock or CM Punk? I have to give this one to Rock even though I'm a huge Punk fan and hope he destroys Rock at the rumble. But I think that when Punk gets more time to go off on the Rock he'll shine just as much. I think this feud is MUCH better than Rock/Cena already.

We all know why you liked Rock over Punk.
Punk called himself God.

I'll be serious, Punk won, flat out. His promo before ROck came out was gold, he made every fan hate him and put Rock at a disadvantage, which is hard to do.
Then he let Rock do his thing and it was great, but good lord, Punk came across as a pissed off man who is about to break your bones, and he had the look of it too. Everything leading up to "You're boxing with God" was great but that line put it over the top If you weren't sure to buy the Rumble thinking that nothing other than the rumble was worth it, This may be the first rumble that has more hype for a title match than a rumble match.

I agree I've never before thought something besides the Rumble should main event but now I dunno how Rock/Punk can go before it. Like I said, honestly in one promo I have more hype for this match than I did for Rock/Cena. I think the thing that helps is we actually have a heel now. Rock and Punk can actually go back and forth about how they hate one another. Rock/Cena seemed to have some weird element of respect in there at least from Cena - they mocked each other but never gave really hate-filled speeches that I could believe. That and that Cena and Rock never took each other seriously. I loved Punk's promo to start but thought that as Punk tends to do sometimes he sort of got lost in it by the end and started rambling and repeating himself a lot. I'm not sure if this was on purpose for heat to get a pop for the Rock but I dunno I just felt like he lost it a bit towards the end after a good start. He didn't say much about the Rock but I assume that's coming. I loved Punk's speech as well, including the box with God line. My one problem with it is that I wish Punk would have talked about how he's faster than the Rock - he kicks harder - and that he can outwrestle him or something. All he kept saying is "I'm gonna kick your ass" which kind of took me out of it because I found it hard to believe that scrawny CM Punk could beat up jacked-up Rock. Punk looked miniature next to him. So I wish Punk had talked about how he can run circles around him or that Rock's never fought a guy of his style or something. It's not really a clash of mega-powers like Cena/Rock was because Punk isn't a power guy. Either way I look forward to seeing if they let Punk TRULY go off on Rock soon

Punk just seems way too forced as a champion. He's had the belt for over a year and I personally cannot seem to care any less about it.
What's hilarious, is the fact they give him Heyman despite the fact that he's supposedly 'god' at this point. Which shows one thing very clearly to me, he doesn't have the star power on his own to hold a good feud. It's sad, but the current system just does not turn out workers like it used to.
Finally, I hate to say this...but I actually like the Cena feud more at this point. Even though Rock has improved ten-fold in his comfort level (no more stupid shoe-horned 'wrist note' angle for instance), Punk is just killing it for me. He's even dragging the Rock Concert down to something to be laughed at...the one last night sucked hard. You can make a case for the Vicky song, but the only problem is it has literally NOTHING to do with the feud at hand.

I don't see how Heyman has more star power than CM Punk. Heyman has no star power anymore. He has maybe gotten "ECW" chants one time but for the most part that has died. What Heyman does have is a ton of charisma. I don't think Punk "Needs" him but their act is fun and I think Heyman has brought a good factor for Punk. I love how he always holds up the championship. Heyman certainly isn't carrying the feud, he's barely doing anything. He just adds to Punk's act subtly in the background.
And I don't see how Punk brought down the Rock concert. He wasn't even part of the segment until the end. I agree Rock should have sang a song about Punk, but I don't see how that has anything to do with Punk himself that he didn't. Punk is really working for me lately, it's the first time I've thought he's starting to get up there with the great heels of the past few years like Edge, JBL, and HHH. I do feel like he has not reached THAT level yet though, and that it does feel a little more forced. Still I like the guy and think he has some more great stuff in his future.

Finally, I hate to say this...but I actually like the Cena feud more at this point. Is that the one where John "I WIN LOL" Cena kicks out of [insert wrestler here]'s finishing move(s) and puts him away with one AA or STF, making his opponent look like a complete joke and reinforcing the fact that his fifteen minutes ran out six years ago? Yeah, that's my favorite feud too.

Yeah, that's my favorite feud too. Rock beat Cena at WM, so that line of reasoning doesn't really hold with the feud I'm talking about (Rock vs. Cena). Also, my problem with Heyman is his role is redundant. Punk has had the belt for an obscenely long time...he shouldn't need someone to hold it up for him. It actually weakens it in my opinion to have a manager like that. It worked great for Brock, as Brock needs a mouthpiece to get over....Punk does not. I dunno, it could also be a bit of Rocks shtick just being hampered and at times, outdated. A Rock Concert in the PG era is so out of place for instance...he can't even say 'bitch'. That, and these God awful names he comes up with...first it was Fruity Pebbles, and now Cookie Puss? Doesn't the dude eat before cutting a promo? I still look forward to the match though, as I want to see Rock win just for the hell of it. A title run with him could be fun...but if he's not going to be full-time it could also be pointless. Though, Punk holding on to the belt any longer at this point is pointless...

The other Rock concerts didn't say anything he really couldn't say here. He said bitch on Smackdown, he just chose to say bi-atch here. Why? I dunno. I guess he thought it was funnier. I thought the Vickie song was very funny even if the Heyman one sucked. And Cookie Puss is pretty funny IMO. I didnt realize it was a Carvel ice cream character at first. After realizing that it became funny. still he did force the crowd chants.
