I haven't seen Smackdown in a while. Went into his match with Jackson prepared to hate him up until his first moves. He totally impressed me though. He really seems to get the concept of opening eyes and making an impression and making even the simplest moves look awesome. Cesaro should take some notes.

Y HALO THAR HHH!
This is almost as bad as Dolph Ziggler being a better Brian Christopher than Brian Christopher.

What does that even mean? Legitimately I have no idea.

His gimmick is the same as Hunter Hearst Helmsley ... it's not new, original, or even that well done in all honesty. It's the same thing with Dolph Ziggler just reusing the gimmick that Brian Christopher ran when he first really started in WWF with the Light-Heavyweight tournament. Seriously, they're not running anything new ... Brodus Clay is a Flash Funk rip off, Ryback is an Ultimate Warrior rip off, it's ridiculous.

I don't love the gimmick. What impressed me was the match and how he made a bunch of simple moves look plain awesome. He really opened my eyes and I never liked his promo videos like most did. In fact I went in planned to hate him and call him boring. But in that match he definitely managed to stand out and be original. Loved the pin at the end, and etc.
As for the rest...so? When you have hundreds of pro wrestlers over years and years it's hard to be completely original. It's all with what you do with it. Ziggler does an awesome job with the "Show off" character. I wasnt watching in the late 90s (started in 2002) so I can't comment on the Brian Christopher comparison, so won't say anything, but I think Dolph is just great, and the gimmick isn't everything.
The fact is, Hunter Hearst Helmsley was 15 years ago....and it's not such an original character that it's impossible to retread it. Sandow does a great job. If anything I'd be more worried about guys like Cesaro and some of the indy guys with no personality rather than guys that slightly copy some gimmicks from the past.

So to sum the up for everyone, Freeman hated someone he ever saw they're in-ring work rather than just wait til he performed in the ring, now he loves them and is worried that the former Claduio Castignoli has no personality along with some other indy guys because guys like guys like Austin Aries, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk had no personality.

Or more like I saw him back when he was with mcCool a couple years ago and he wasn't very good then, and I wasn't too sure about his gimmick. Guys like Aries, Punk, and D Bry DID have personality which is why I like them, but they were always the exception to the rule IMO. Every indy guy is certainly not CM Punk or Austin Aries.

So,based on a gimmick that involved little to know talking from 6 years ago, you hated him because he actually talks.
Please, tell me what about him changed other than the fact he is getting pushed as a singles wrestler that made you like him?
And seriously, Bryan Danielson had little to no personality on the independents, much like how Tyler Black had little to no personality on the independents.
Seriously, I dunno how you think Cesaro has no personality, he got stuck with a crap gimmick stuck with Aksana and he's working on it. Had they just kept him as being the Superior Swiss, he would have been fine, He played that up great around the indies, I hope they keep Kassius Ohno the way he is, but as soon as he gets called up, he'll switch to something stupid.

Dude TJ chill out why does everything have to be such a big deal?
He used to be very bland and generic especially in ring. As a result I didn't expect to like him. I also wasn't all that impressed with the promos at first. Then he had a couple matches and he did an amazing job of standing out so he won me over. I dunno why that's difficult to understand and I don't know how you can say he was even close to this interesting in his first run which was pretty long. I expected a bland wrestler repackaged with a decently interesting gimmick and saw that he was no longer bland.
As for Danielson he did improve a ton in WWE but Punk and Aries were always awesome. Cesaro's gimmick is fine it's all in what he does with it, see Daniel Bryan who made the most of what was given to him and got over big time. If you watch the Sandow match I posted he does so much interesting stuff such as the way he rolled out of the Russian leg sweep, and the smooth way he hit his finisher and transitioned into that sick pin.
The fact is "Go out there and squash Ezekiel Jackson" isn't exactly instant success booking any more than Cesaro's going out to squash Tyson Kidd. Sandow made the most of it though. I havent seen Cesaro do that yet. He needs to set himself apart but I dunno I haven't seen that yet besides having the cool uppercut move. In general the Indies seem to have some gems (Kevin Steen, Kenny King) and while I've never followed ROH too closely I've just never been able to really get behind guys like Roderick Strong that look bland and have no charisma and are just boring wrestling machines. And that seems to be pretty prevalent now.
