Another memory of mine that has become just that, a memory.
Without a doubt, Randy Savage was one of the best. A lot of newcomers who foster the new brand of wrestling that resembles more of a sitcom on television over the coming weeks and months will put Macho in signature pics as a eulogy. Well, if you are one of those people let me tell you something about the man who now resides on one of your internet images. He was so energetic, so charismatic that he rivaled Hulk Hogan in a time where it was near impossible for Hogan to have a rival. Hogan was the show, but through his God given talents, Randy was able to break through and captivate a pretty decent size fanbase on his own. To those who were alive at the time (Senator), you know how monumental this feat is. I can only hope if you weren't you understand.
His fueds were one of a kind. Obviously Hogan is up there, but his blood feuds with DDP and Jake the Snake, man, just typing about them gives me shivers. Current wrestling cannot even come close to touching them. He was a great athlete in the ring and was one of the first few "high flying" guys that paved the way for the wrestling style you see now.
I went over to the WWE page and while I am glad to see a mention, I sincerely hope Vince doesn't try to put him in that sham of a Hall of Fame now. He was no good to you when he was alive, McLoser, don't soil his memory with a classless act and pretend that you care now. You had your chance.
Finally, Randy inspired fans and people in the business today. I am enjoying reading many comments from today's stars, but you don't even have to go that far to see the influence as right here in ACW Savage inspired not only myself, but RDK.
Legends do such things. I do not know Randy personally, only his work. I'd like to think he is in heaven now, though. And maybe if so, that thunder you hear is more than the crackling whip of lightening, but an elbow drop hitting the cloudy canvas.
RIP.

This thread has done nothing but depress me. The loss of a legend and how much of a wasted talent Lanny Poffo was.

Well written, TK. I rewatched his match with Steamboat from WrestleMania... Man, that's a hell of a match. Savage could cut a promo like nobody else, too.
It would be pretty silly too to induct Macho Man into the HOF after his death, considering that Drew Carey and Bob Eucker (who? that guy that Andre the Giant choked once?) got in before he did. And even then, I'm hoping we at least get a couple of tributes to Mach here and there on Raw or Over the Limit.

That article was very good. It highlighted many points I made myself and done so professionally. But more so, it lead me to this old gem. I watched this, live. I LIVED for Saturday Night's Main Event. It was like a free PPV, done bimonthly, usually. Back then, not too many people had cable since it was in its infancy. Just about 4 channels covered it and funny enough, it seems like there was something always on unlike today, with my freakin' 300 channels of pure shit. Anyway, I'm rambling. There I was, captivated to my TV because my favorite past time was about ready to close another Saturday Night. The main event, the Mega Powers Vs. The Twin Towers. What a match! And during all of the chaos, the split began to happen. This was the aftermath. Now, I don't care who you take. You can take any new WWE guy, they can't reproduce this. Macho is just in another place here. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, touched Hulk like that. Randy just shoves his face TWICE. Then the berserk rage. You never knew if Randy was going to hit 'Liz and you held your breath. Instead, he just throws her ass to the ground as if he wanted her to go make him a sandwich. MAN, I LOVE THAT. No garbage political correctness, just "Go make me a sandwich, bitch." It was wild, unhinged. It was pure Macho Man.

One of the most underrated entertainers, no, not Mr. Perfect. "Leaping" Lanny Poffo, The Genius, Macho Man's brother. He really added an extra dimension to an already great feud.

Lanny was just one gimmick away from breaking out. Unfortunately, he never found it. The Genius was as close as he got as it gave him some notoriety, including an action figure. But it just wasn't enough to stand the test of time.
I found another vintage Savage promo, leading into this Saturday Night's Main Event.

Stop whining about Savage not making the WWE Hall of Fame. The WWE Hall of Fame is a fucking work. It means absolutely nothing.

WTF Rep, yes the Hall of Fame is a work. So is wrestling...so is being a world champion...so is everything. Its a great way in the wrestling business for the WWE to immortalize you and show respect (And Im sure they will put Savage in.) It obviously meant something to Hulk Hogan who for some reason based a TNA storyline around it, and how he gave Abyss his ring as a show of the ultimate respect. Obviously even in TNA Hulk Hogan shows that it has value.

It obviously meant something to Hulk Hogan who for some reason based a TNA storyline around it, and how he gave Abyss his ring as a show of the ultimate respect. Obviously even in TNA Hulk Hogan shows that it has value. The only "WTF" that I have is for you, Freeman. But wow, how surprising. The WWE HOF is garbage. Plain and simple. I know I am well noted for my angry "old fan" rants. Well, here is another. There already is a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. www.pwhf.org/And Randy Savage is already a part of it. Unfortunately, (here it comes, you kids get off my lawn stuff) you kids don't know about it, but what is worse, you-don't-care. You think that the House of McMahon is the entire world of professional wrestling and his little gimmick HOF ring and plaque is what really matters. Well, as a fan, I shit on his ring and his plaque. Year after year the WWE shows that it is a joke but yet you damn kids soak it up like retarded sponges because it has high production and comes on before the "oh so legendary" Wrestlemania, which by the way, has been basically just another PPV over the past few years. Spoonfed fans by Vince McMahon. And furthermore, inducting Randy Savage at this point would be a complete and utter joke. In fact, it would be a travesty. Something happened, we don't know what but there is no fan alive (with a brain) that could say Savage shouldn't be recognized as one of the WWF's top talents. Sadly, Vince has the final say and he put his own emotions over that of the people who have lined his pockets over the decades. Big surprise. Now I will be honest, Vince is in a "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't" point on this one. If he doesn't put Savage in his shit HOF, then he comes off looking like a douchebag. Well, some of us already know that he is a douchebag and his ignoring Savage while he was alive will never be surpassed by any recognition he would give him now. I also wouldn't put it past Vince put make a quick buck off of this. That said, prepare for the Macho Man this HOF. I can only hope his family rejects like Owen's wife or Bruno Sammartino. Now those are people that I respect and admire.

So why should I take your word over the word of guys like Flair and Hogan? Two wrestling legends right? And the two still treat the Hall of Fame rings like a mark of who's who in wrestling, and guess what, NEITHER is with the WWE right now. They are in fact in TNA, which puts down WWE at all points that they can, and yet even they make a point of bringing up the hall of fame. There was the storyline with Hogan passing down his ring to Abyss, and I believe another thing with Flair talking to Bobby Roode and saying something like "You dont have one of these!" talking about his Hall of Fame ring.
If wrestling legends like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan consider their Hall of Fame ring to be a valid and legitimate thing then whose word are we supposed to be taking? Vince McMahon, at least in America, IS pro wrestling, and there's not much that can be done about that. Sure there are independent feds, but most of those guys probably tried for WWE anyways, and failed. TNA can't even stop mentioning it for one episode.
Everything ECW, everything WCW, it all belongs to WWE now. They can do with it what they want. Like release a best of Monday Night Nitro DVD. They own it. And unless a miracle happens, TNA will go the same route. In Japan, in Mexico, things are different. In America, WWE is pro wrestling. And WWE is fine now, not as good as it used to be maybe but a heck of a lot better than it was in 2005-2007. TK you hate John Cena but he's basically Hulk hogan. A superface all the kids love and look up to and buy all the merchandise, etc. Just like you have nostalgia for Hulk Hogan kids of today will grow up with nostalgia for John Cena.
And in any case, Cena is the only wrestler in the WWE that gets passion wherever he goes. You can say "BUT HALF THE TIME HE GETS BOOED!" maybe...but lets say its Cena vs Miz...are you going to hear "LETS GO CENA! LETS GO MIZ!" no...you're going to hear "LETS GO CENA! CENA SUCKS!" It's all about John Cena. I like John Cena, or I hate John Cena, its all directed at him, and nothing for his opponent. Its CENA who gets a reaction whereEVER he goes, the crowd is NEVER dead for him and there is NOBODY else in the WWE that you could say that about. I personally dont like Cena but there is no reason to blame him for anything. Also the undercard in WWE is a lot stronger than it used to be and payperviews have insanely higher average match quality than your typical shows from years back.

And while this year's Wrestlemania 27 was far from amazing, since the brand split, the WWE has had some very strong Manias like 20, 23, 26, and the best one ever IMO in Wrestlemania 19 (A long way back yet but post-attitude-era, where most people seem to put the decline at.)
