I just got back from the TNA live event here in Columbus tonight and I gotta say, I had an absolute blast.
TNA, I believe, was booted from Nationwide Arena in favor of Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly and whatever the hell they were up to. TNA was reassigned to the practice arena of the Blue Jackets on the same lot as the main arena.
When I got there I grabbed a program and hopped in a line for Jeff Jarrett's autograph. Then I went over to the shop set up and was able to get Don West to sign my program while he was working in the shop area. I got a TNA wrestling shirt and an RVD shirt. My friend got an Earl "Damn Right I Did" shirt.
We got over to our seat just in time for the start of the show. Jeremy Borash spent most of his time between matches trying to find the loudest fan of the roughly 600 there and gave them backstage passes.
Show started with Velvet Sky defeating Sarita. Was a lengthy opener but rather entertaining from the ladies.
Next up was a fatal fourway for the X division title. Jay Lethal came out to Flair's music. He got in the ring and got on the mic and ask Earl to call the match down the middle cause he knows Earl has a history of screwing people. *variety of Lethal and then You screwed Bret chants* Earl gets pissed at Lethal and rips off his ref shirt to show off his "Damn Right I Did" shirt.
Lethal vs Shannon Moore vs Hernandez vs Doug Williams: Williams catches loud USA chants before the match starts. Doug looked over at Hernandez, who shrugged him off and pointed to his Mexico shirt. Match ended with Lethal hit his finisher on Hernandez and then Doug Williams threw Jay out of the ring and covered for the win.
3rd up was Taylor Wilde vs Madison Rayne. Damn Madison looked fine. Madison wins with a roll up and grabbing the ropes. I think she grabbed the ropes, hard to see from my angle.
Next match was a 6 man tag match, last match before intermission.
Abyss, Eric Young, Matt Morgan vs Jeff Jarrett, Mr Anderson, Kurt Angle
Great 6 man match. Abyss went to all 4 sides of the ring and flipped off the crowd to get his heel heat. Crowd chanted "We Want Angle" thru most of the match until he was tagged in. Very great reaction for Kurt. Faces win after Eric Young taps to the Ankle Lock.
Intermission: I hopped in line to get autographs from Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky. She remembered me from a Columbus Clippers baseball game she was at a couple weeks ago. I thought that was cool as hell. I waited in the line for their autographs and got back to my seat just in time for the first match back.
Orlando Jordan vs Rob Terry for the Global Title. 3 or 4 people trying to get a "this is boring" chant going. Slow match with OJ working the legs of Rob over. Rob wins after hitting his finisher.
While Borash was talking before the main event (and during the first few minutes of the main event), I looked over and noticed D Lo freaking Brown standing off to the side watching on in the ring.
AJ Styles vs Jeff Hardy was the main event for the night. Start of the match featured AJ ranting on Ohio. He then walked to the back and Earl said if he didnt get in the ring by 10 he would be DQ'd and suspended. AJ ran to the ring and slid in and out just between 9 and 10. He spent a few minutes walking around the ring and getting in and out quickly as Earl tried to fast count him. He would count faster each time AJ bailed. AJ finally got in and ready and Jeff slid out to mock him. AJ got pissed and started counting Jeff out himself but Earl had none of it.
Match featured some rivaling "Lets go AJ" "Lets go Hardy" chants that were great. Jeff won with the Swanton.
After the match and event, Jeff stayed in the ring. For 20 bucks, you and whoever you wanted (family, friends, etc) could get in the ring and have your picture taken with Jeff Hardy. Abyss was signing autographs at a table. Was very funny to see him flipping off the crowd and screaming that he hated us, then after the show he was signing, softly shook my hand and said "thanks for coming out." I waited by the ramp and Sarita, Jay Lethal, Orlando Jordan, Doug Williams all signed my program while they were walking around the ringside area.
Jeremy Borash high fived me and shook my hand while he was on his way up the aisle and to the back.
TL;DR version: TNA live event was an absolute blast. Def want to go again sometime.
