I modified the script a bit. All you should have to do is change those 150's to whatever you want (or leave them) and everyone's avatar should resize. I tried it on my test board and it worked wonderfully...hopefully it'll work here also.

Don't hold me to this, however you may be able to set a max size on banners this way also...

Yeah but far be it from me to constrain people's creativity, well not too much anyway. If it's a large banner I'll just ask them to make it smaller.

So this is nice and all, but what happens if you dont have an avatar that fits perfectly into 135X135? The board stretches it to that and you cant override it in your settings.

This sucks, if you can't set your own size then there's no point. Not everyone is going to have the same size avatars. And a limit on banners sucks.

That's the downside to making it size automatically. The board was never meant to go above 100x100 for some odd reason, and unless someone rewrites how proboards is handled internally then JS hacks are the only way.
Much like banners we could just use the other way and let people decide the size, the only bad part is the page would probably look uneven from all of the different sizes going on. I say we go with something standard like 128x128 (or some other power of 2). Most avatars are scaled using powers of 2, so if it's 256x256 normally and you resize that to 128x128 it should still be proportional.
EDIT: Just saw Rep's reply. All I have to say about the avatar thing is blame PB's. As for the banner it was a suggestion so that people wouldn't make crazy page stretching banners. I never meant limit the size, I meant limit the maximum size, that is it can be up to this but no bigger. The only reason I brought that up was because of the newsletter.

Well, my hope was that we'd be able to finally go "Widescreen" on avatars but I guess we have no other choice than do a traditional square. I can work around that, BUT I'd hope we can get it to 150X150 becausee 35 pixels in each direction isn't going to make or break finding new newer style avatars.

You can make them rectangular, the problem of some avatars being morphed still stands though. Unfortunately there's nothing dynamic that can be done (that is letting everyone set there own size through the boards), as that's not the way PB handles things.
The only other way is letting avatars be any size. As long as they don't stretch horizontally too far, you could put whatever you want in there. A trial and error could be done for a day or so, that is let everyone get the avatar they want and see what happens. If all goes to heck then we know we need a static size, if everything looks fine then keep the 'no limits' approach....

If you let people put whatever size they want in it will just stretch into posts and that pisses me off >.>. Avatars were fine the way they were, christ you can basically have as big sigs as you want whats your problem?

Alright, take three. I thought on it for a bit, and instead of forcing everyone to the same size avatar, this code will only force the size of your avatar if it exceeds the maximum allowable avatar size.
Above I have if your avatar is over 150x150 then resize it to 128x128, and if it is anything smaller than 150x150 it should stay whatever size (and proportion) it is currently. Of course the max size and resize size can be changed at the top.
This should make everyone happy hopefully...the avatars won't be forum stretching huge and you can still set your own size as long as it doesn't go above the maximum size. After the code is in place all you have to do is copy/paste the link to your avatar and it the forum will do the rest...

TK stop using huge ass GIFs FFS. Anything over 100x100 is just taking the piss really. Fix'd. We don't need bigger avatars, they're supposed to be like little post signatures under your name not a new sig slot. Change it back plz?
