Why didn't anyone actually address the presented points.
... most people here are mad that Obama is President because he
- doesn't recognize the US flag and doesn't pledge to the flag
- isn't an "American"
- it's fulfilling a prophecy in the Bible... I haven't read the Bible so, I wouldn't know... just a lot of people here are not happy...
1. Obama hates the American flag.Wrong.He DOES recognize the flag, and he DOES pledge the flag. The whole argument about not saluting flags and not wearing flag pins is laughable at best. For example, John McCain didn't wear a flag pin at any of the three debates, but that doesn't mean he hates America. Also, for the record, Obama DID wear a flag pin to every debate. Weird.
However, the basis of this argument relies on the thought that your level of patriotism has something to do with your presidential skills. Whether or not someone pledges a flag or wears a pin on their suit has absolutely no effect on their ability(Or lack of) to run an entire country, and at that, one which happens to be one of the world's biggest super powers.
2. Obama isn't American.Wrong.In order to become president, you have to have been born in America. As he's been elected, he's obviously American. His mother was a caucasian American woman from Kansas, and his father was a black African man from Kenya. He was born in Hawaii, spent six years there, moved with his family to Indonesia(Island chain south of the China/Burma/Thailand/Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam region of Asia and north of Australia), spent four years there, then moved with his family back to America, for good.
John McCain was born to two white, American parents on an United States Army base in Panama(Southern-most point of Central America, with Colombia, South America to Panama's south). US Army bases are legally American soil, so yes, he was born in America.
So McCain and Obama are both American. Equally American, even though that's redundant since we're all equally American.
But hey, let's say that Obama is, indeed, not American. How does nationality make someone any less qualified to be the president? Aside from the prerequisite of having to be born in America, that is.
The basis of that argument is that all foreigners are evil. They steal your money, they murder your family, they rape your children, and they drive your country into the ground and laugh about it.
We know that isn't true. We're mostly foreigners to each other right here in ACW. We're either American, British, Welsh(Different from British?), or Canadian. That doesn't make any of us evil.
Foreigners are not to be scared of, and they aren't inherently evil. And Hawaiian-Americans certainly aren't evil.
3A. Obama is the Antichrist.Wrong.3B. Yes he is, the Bible says so!No, it doesn't.I promise you, it doesn't. A lot of religious nuts don't actually read the Bible, they just go on what they hear and never check their facts.
But I do check facts. Plus I'm an avid reader of religious texts, so I knew for sure that it was lies the instant I heard it.
I'll now present both versions for you to see.
First, the Right Wing Extremists' version of the Bible's New Testament's Book of "Revelations." Note the S right there, too.
"According to the Book of Revelations the anti-christ is: The anti-christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuassive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal.... the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destory everything. Is it OBAMA??"
Now for comparison, quotes from the real Book of Revelation.
"Revelation 13
1 And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.
2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.
3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast.
4Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?"
5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months.
6 He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven.
7 He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.
8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.
9 He who has an ear, let him hear.
10 If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.
11 Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon.
12 He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.
13 And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men.
14 Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
15 He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.
16 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,
17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
18 This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."I realize it's wordy, archaic, and metaphorical, but read.
Or, here's a summary. The general gist of it is that two beasts arrive on Earth; both seize power over the entire world and work for the dragon(devil). They have charisma and a way with words like every successful politician ever. They also woo the people with false miracles(Summoning meteors and magical healing), which makes us believe Jesus has returned.
There is no single Antichrist, it's not necessarily a man, there's no age even hinted at so he's not in his 40s. And no race or religion is mentioned so he is not of MUSLIM descent.
...
Plus, and this is crucial, Muslim is not a race, it's a religion. I know they clearly meant "Arab," but since Obama(Black Christian) is neither Islamic or Middle Eastern, he can't even be tied to fake Revelations about him.
And since we won't recognize the Antichrist, and will in fact believe him to be Jesus due to miracles, anyone suspected can't be the Antichrist. That pretty much clears Obama until he begins casting Ultima and Curaga spells.
On top of that, Revelation was written
before Islam was even created. Mr. Arabic Antichrist could very well be a Scientologist for all we know.
Ironically, a few pages later in Revelation, there's this passage.
"Revelation 22
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.So the morons who started that rumor full well knowing it's a lie are A).
defying their own God and B). purposely misleading their own voter base about something they hold very dear; their Bible.
And in the end, that's all it matter's to, too. You Atheists/Buddhists/Agnostics/etc here don't have an Antichrist to deal with. But the extremists can't grasp that; it's their way or no way. They're so incredibly dangerous. They're why all facts have to be checked, because they'll lie about anything; nothing is off limits, not even their own religion.
The basis of this argument is...well, ignorance.
People rarely read their scripture. The Republican political machine knows that, as well as the fact that the majority of their voter base is made of southern sometimes-racist working class Christian caucasians who've not gone past high school, and they know they can exploit that, even if it may be very unethical.
That wasn't meant to be an insult to Republicans(Politicians or voters), I was grouping some voter pools together. But they are not stereotypes.
I myself am from Tennessee(White, Christian/Deist, Moderate Democrat), and the Right Wing Extremists are...practically everywhere, even in my own family. The only people I know here that don't want to outright LYNCH Obama are myself, Orochi, my uncle, and one of my nurses. Insanity(Extremism and racism) is common, and encouraged, here in the South.
I really want to stress the word Extremist. I don't mean Republicans. Senator's a really great Republican. I just happened to be focusing on the Right Wing Extremists of the recent campaigns for this post. The ones who say Obama hates the flag, isn't American, is a Muslim terrorist, is related to either Saddam or Bin Laden because of his middle name(Hussein, which is as popular and common as Njuyen in Asia, or John in America), that he was sworn in on a Quaran, that he wants to destroy America, that he's the Antichrist, etc.
But not just them; Left Wing Extremists are just as bad with the stuff about McCain's illegal marriage, being born in a jungle, crashing cars into people and killing them, sinking US ships in Vietnam, having a black child out of wedlock, beating Cindy, etc.
This post isn't an endorsement of Barrack Obama, it's a denouncement of Extremists, white or black, political or religious, Muslim or Christian, conservative or liberal, and the vicious lies and immoral tactics they stand for.
I hope this post is enlightening and helpful to you. In the future, don't worry about if you're crazy, Jade(And anyone else). If you can track something horrible like that back to Myspace/blogs, Left Wing/Right Wing websites or newsletters, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Mike Huckabee, Rush Limbaugh, Rupert Murdoch, Chris Matthews, Sarah Palin, Whoopi Goldberg, Elizabeth Hassleback, Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Rachel Maddow, Karl Rove, Ann Coulter, or any other brainless dolt like them, just discard it and walk away.
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
