Disclaimer: These picks are of course my opinion. My opinion is neither right or wrong its just what I think. So if you don’t make the list, please do not feel that I don’t like you, what you wrote or that your promos were not as good as the one’s I have listed. I really don’t want people to get discouraged over things like these. Please, please realize that with the amount of talented writers that we have it’s a super tough job picking out just five promos. Q&A WITH AJ! Today’s question comes from a man who knows the truth so well he sleeps with it on a daily basis, Senator Steve Phillips. They shall be wed this fall. Q: At summer’s end, who do you see as Main Eventers?Keep in mind this is only pure speculation on my part and most likely someone is going to be ticked that I left them off the list. I am no mind reader but here is how I see it in my VERY mentally exhausted state: Sarin Dan White Adrian Flamingo Nick Durden FSX Danny Mainer *in Casey Kasem voice* And now onto the countdown! AJ'S PICKS! - “Those were the days...” by BK London. Oh my God, BK is on a tear as of late! I totally loved the “old guy mentors young guy” approach he took here. Jerome’s youthful arrogance clashed with BK’s wise ways in a very entertaining manner that was fun to read. I totally approve of BK’s evolution into the wise veteran that has trouble taking to change. One of the last ACW greats, it would only make sense. Also, who didn’t crack a smile when BK told Jerome of his dealings with Yoko or mentioned Lou the Cameraman?
- “Lesson Three” by Alicia. Personal narrative use FTW! One hardly sees this style grace our shows; in fact, the only people that come to mind (as I write this) that I’ve seen use it frequently are Freeman and Durden. Anyway, Alicia shows she can master it which should come at no surprise. These “lessons” of Kai really have built the character up from obscurity and has me greatly anticipating both his profile and debut. If you plan to develop a new character, AK is showing you exactly how you do it.
- “A Moment for Myself”by Chris Williams. Mr. Williams is slowly becoming one of my favorites. As I read this one, shades of Rocky fell into my eyes and that most certainly is a good thing. Chris has such terrific way developing his descriptive text. The line, “in the darkness of the morning, with nothing but his thoughts accompanying him, Williams is free,” backs me up in my beliefs. While Mainer and Steele definitely put the charisma in the Maine Event, I have no doubts that Williams will be the man who will be the glue that holds them together.
- “Come On - Part 4” by Nick Durden. As a reader, I really, really don’t want Nick back with Renix, but my personal feelings aside this has been an extremely well written set by Mike. He perfectly describes the feelings one experiences when they are in the presence of someone they had a torrid fling with in the past. It’s awkward and sometimes it just feels wrong. He did a good job conveying these feelings in this latest episode. As a fan, I loved the ending and hope things stick this way.
- “To Be A Team – Part II” by Jay Zero and Libertines. Ah, it’s nice to see Zero on the list, and - hey waitasecond - is that Libertines? Well, I do believe it is! Watching Jay have a panic attack over his title match was hilarious and the “I gotta throw up” line had me in stitches. Libertines did an awesome job grounding Jay in this promo and it appears he is going to play the straight man of the group. I do feel these two guys can be a factor in the tag tournament to come, but a great deal of effort will have to come from the “Showstarter” to see this occur.
Honorable Mentions: “The Unexpected Reversal” by Mainer, Cheng and Durden was an awesome set up for their upcoming conflict at SiH, minus Durden of course. However, that Water Cooler part was very insightful. Blake Straker’s “King of all Lizards” promo was a great introduction that has me craving more from him. Welcome to ACW Blake and if you need any help, just ask. “Capitol Revenge” by the .. Kalb and Fitsharris (!!!) was a delight to read! It appears another great SiH match has worked its way onto the card and with it Mr. White should be getting a proper taste of retribution. Lastly, “The RDK Invitational Entertainment Tournament Round Three: Sandwich eating” by Train and Showtime gets an honorable mention nod. Alright guys, I am going to be honest with you, this by all means could have gone on the top five, but you two are dominating the list so much that it’s just not fair to everyone else. Therefore, this latest installment shall get placed here. P.S.: the laxative backfire was brilliant. Moment of the Show: Taken from “Back To My Roots (Introduction, Part 1)” by Dan White. Dan takes a shit to the kidneys, and falls to the ground. God, I hate it when that happens! XD! I’m sorry Dan and before I proceed further, I certainly get bitten by the typo bug myself. However, I almost wet myself when this was pointed out to me (and so did the “pointer out” for that matter)!

"Lesson Three" really stood out for me because it's AK showing off her vast knowledge of the in-ring psychology. Few people have been able to formulate such concise, profound dictums on what it's really like to fight inside the wrestling ring quite like her. She comes off as a true expert in the field, a thoroughly seasoned veteran, just like the exact character she plays.
For whatever reason, Kenny seems to be developing a real knack for these segments that feature raw violence at its graphic best, and we get another nice showing here in "Everything Changes But You." At the same time, the segment features a nice glimpse into how Zero's rage begins to fester, a very poignant foreshadowing for the events to come.
"Back To My Roots (Introduction, Part 1)" is worth a read because the brunt of Dan's demented nature is there for all to see, not in a wrestling ring, but in what is more or less an everyday kinda setting. It only makes the Dan character that much more terrifying, knowing that he doesn't even have to be in a sanctioned fight to go sadistic on you.
I will give a cheap plug to "Sweet Revenge: Part 6: A Phone Call To The One I Love" because it mentions the Kudo/Scott match from WD '06, written by who? None other than Durdenatrix! That, and I felt there was a good display of Scott's newer introspective nature.
"Degradation" was just plain awesome. Vast array of emotions on display. Additionally, something I've really appreciated about this feud is how the stakes are continuously raised. I can only imagine what will go down in the climactic concluding faceoff between AJ and Sarin. It's syre to be something that defies imagination.
Finally, I must praise FSX like all heck for his work. I don't know how you manage to reach so far outside the proverbial box, but you never cease to innovate like nobody else. Fallen's escape from the Temple of Doom makes him look that much more heroic and should certainly get people behind him as he tries to defy the odds, so to speak, both inside the ring and out.
