Disclaimer: These picks are of course my opinion. My opinion is neither right or wrong its just what I think. So if you don’t make the list, please do not feel that I don’t like you, what you wrote or that your promos were not as good as the one’s I have listed. I really don’t want people to get discouraged over things like these. Please, please realize that with the amount of talented writers that we have it’s a super tough job picking out just five promos. See, I told you! This years Fallen Heroes totally surpassed last years, no doubt about it. While everyone was eyeing the total number of matches on the card and wondering if it would be able to live up to the hype, I stood strong and said to put your troubles to bed! Now I wish I could take credit for the show’s success, but this was all you, folks. Stand up and take a bow. Everyone from top to bottom deserves a standing ovation. AJ'S PICKS! - “Becoming - All Parts” by Sarin. This tale was easily one of the best stories going throughout the last month its ending totally lived up to my expectations. Mercer Stanton being the mysterious benefactor was brilliant and the Yoko dream sequence had me giggling like a school girl. All four parts flowed magnificently together and what more can I say about the actual writing? Sarin gives a distinct personality to each of her characters and all three would certainly rank within the top ten of the most entertaining names on the roster.
- “I’ve Got to Figure it Out, No Escape & A Reveal-ation” by Rattlesnake. Snake, you sneaky man, you! Entering the chat as “the Revolutionary,” the clever Inside Scoop post and all those little retirement comments. You worked us over something fierce, for two entire months! Seriously, you need to take a bow, you did this perfectly! Shock and awe aside, your promos for this show were solid, interesting and needless to say, extremely noteworthy. I see gold in your future, perhaps even the one title that has eluded you for so long.
- “Yeah, You Were Right All Along” by Adrian Flamingo. Wow, was one very powerful promo. The moment Flamingo finally exploded I felt like screaming “run!” Flamingo’s “break down” was one of the better snapping promos I’ve definitely read in a while. Another storyline that has been building for a while, I love how it all came to a head and I simply cannot wait to see where Flamingo takes this. PS: I loved the mention of “Lou the Camera Man.” Total bonus points for that one.
- “Bigger than Hitman’s Forehead, It’s the Week End Review” by Jon Taylor & Showtime. It goes without saying that this show staple is always entertaining, but this has been the best of the lot thus far. The “random picture” generator was a very nice touch, especially with all the little fun facts about each competitor. You two had to do your homework for this one, you did it and for that I applaud you! Finally, these show review promos are usually laced with tons of fun little jokes and this one was no different, other than the fact that they were the best laughs these two have put out since the conception of this series.
- “Sigh of Relief” by Danny Mainer. Totally enjoyed this. Goodbye Mei-Feng and welcome back Caitlynn. It was great to see you try something “emotional” and without any doubt in my mind, you pulled it off. I can’t wait to see what kind of changes may be in Mainer’s future and I’m sure you won’t find yourself running short on ideas. Now go forth Mainer, tonight Caitlynn is going to make you a man!
Honorable Mentions: Taylor’s singles have really taken a leap upwards as far as overall enjoyment goes, FSX’s dance with the devil was constructed with brilliance and Alicia’s debut of Kai has me hoping this will be her “Second Coming.” Moment of the Show: We have two moments of the show, actually. The first comes from the Rumble itself. - FALLEN HEROES RUMBLE 2008 WINNER - ”SENATOR” STEVE PHILLIPS Congratulations Steve, you earned it and I’m proud of you. Not that you’d actually need me to be proud of you, but nevertheless I am. The second moment of the show needs no introduction nor explanation. We all know why. "Yes, it's me." The Revolutionary is seen to be none other than Rattlesnake himself.Rattlesnake: Surprise, fuckers. And that does it for this years Fallen Heroes. See you all in ‘09! <3, ~Aj
