Segment: A Father’s madness, and a Brother’s courage (Credit: RDK)
Silence...darkness...that is all that is viewable. However this soon changes, as the light seeps into being and the familiar shadow sets in...many a lesser shadow at its side.
?: Ah, once again I find myself in the position of opportunity. Am I a man to seize it? But of course. Men, tonight must be done well! Precisely well done in fact. For if not, I'm afraid something beyond what most would think or perform might have to be administered. *Sigh* Let's get the job done.
The man and his assistants stride down the hall with the uttermost confidence. It is indeed a night of action for these individuals, either way someone looks at it. They turn corners, take lefts, rights, swerves, circles...but eventually...eventually a final destination is reached, and the leader and his men have a more detailed expression in their faces, and now anyone who would see them would know who they are...
?: Slam it open boys...
Two of the four henchman immediately ram open the door, but it retains its form easily. They enter the room and are confronted by two men who seem to act as bodyguards. The henchmen easily knock out the bodyguards and then tie them up. Gingerdude is revealed to be in his very comfy chair during all of this. He just freezes, sitting behind his desk...
?: Ah good evening Ginger old chap, I'm going to need your assistance, and I can't afford for you to really...well, be a blabbermouth and all...so you’re coming with us...
Gingerdude: ...I don't have a choice do I, Valmont...?
The figure who is obviously Valmont laughs a bit, but then straightens his posture...
Valmont: Choice isn't given to the weak minded...Henry, John...take him with us...
Right away Ginger is taken, the henchmen follow Valmont. Up the stair spirals and elevators they travel, moving cautiously so as not to be seen. It seems like forever, however again, a destination is reached...they enter a door with a sign labeled "Sky Box" that Ginger is forced to open with one of his keys. Surprisingly no security has seen Valmont or his henchmen. They all enter the skybox and two henchmen tie Ginger up. Valmont demands another one open up the suitcase he brought with him. He does so and it is revealed that there is a sniper rifle inside it. The man begins to put it together and Valmont looks to his fourth and final henchman...
Valmont: Eliminate any security that might pose a threat or problem, we can't afford to blow this.
The henchman nods and quickly leaves the room, accompanied by one of the others, leaving two with their boss and their hostage. The crowd doesn’t even notice Valmont and the others because of how high up they are. Ginger scowls...
Valmont: Oh there there, my goal is simple, you will not die, dear Gingerdude. Neither will I, neither will anyone...except my failure of an offspring...
Gingerdude: ....no....you....
Valmont: No, not you, me....
Valmont snatches the now complete rifle, he locks and loads it...then a cock of an eyebrow is given to Ginger, and Valmont paces back and forth, looking through the huge glass wall for the next contest to begin, and patiently awaiting the main event....
...However, at a hotel, at the other side of town...Julien sits in his chair, a glass of rum and coke in one hand, a remote in the other. Yes indeed, he is watching the matches on ppv. Why he isn't watching it live at the arena is anyone's guess, but whatever the reason, it means that Julien sees what those in the arena do not....
Julien: ....Wait...what...?
Julien clicks his remote and stops the dvd that is recording. He rewinds and looks at the recording from the disk again. He sees a shadow pacing back and forth in the skybox, though it is barely noticeable...you'd think he wouldn't think much of it at first, but Julien is a precise man, and very obsessive. He takes a closer look, and presses the zoom button, pausing the action. He knows he is probably missing precious match time but he must decipher what is happening. His obsessive demeanor demands so. He looks at the particular spot he zoomed in on, and notices a mane of long hair, white. He shivers and does not want to believe what he sees. He zooms in to full...and there it is, Valmont, from the side, carrying a rifle....Julien is shocked, he can't believe what he sees...but...he knows it is true...he throws down his drink and control and puts on his boots with due speed. He knows it’s a half hour drive to the other side of the city...but RDK's match should start just a bit after. So he believes he can make it. Julien grabs his cellphone and heads downstairs, calling a taxi. He awaits and is immediately picked up. He tells the taxi to go straight to the ACW arena and the driver steps on it. Julien then calls Ginger's office...there is no answer. Julien just drops his jaw and knows something isn't right...he yells at the cab driver and throws a 100 dollar bill at him and the thing speeds up to that exact number in miles. The cars on the highway make way for the speedy automobile as the scene fades out....with one thing....
Hope.

Match 7: 30-Minute Iron Man Match BK London vs. Kudo Only two matches remain on tonight’s card, but they’re contests that the fans have been waiting for with huge expectations. Philip taps his foot as he waits for the right moment to begin proceedings.Philip: Ladies and Gentlemen, our penultimate match tonight is a 30 minute Iron Man contest, in which the competitor who scores the greatest number of pins, submissions and countouts will be declared the winner. Introducing first, he is the current ACW Entertainment Champion… from Kyoto, Japan, he is a member of the Armada… “Mr. K.O.” Kudo Yasuda! ”Poison” plays, and Kudo walks out into the spotlights with an incredibly intense expression on his face. The fans know how much this match means to him, and even though he is not currently in their good books, they clap respectfully for what he is about to undertake. Kudo enters the ring, and waits there, his eyes focused on the entrance.Philip: And his opponent, from Brooklyn, New York, he is the current ACW International Champion… BK London! ”Diamonds” hits, and the crowd initially boos BK, but this is less pronounced than normal. BK is also less cocky in his manner as he walks toward the ring; he stares back at Kudo, and the fans can see that this rivalry is on an entirely different level to any run-of-the-mill dispute. The referee checks both men over once BK is in the ring, and then gives the all clear to the timekeeper for the match to start. A clock showing “30 minutes” appears on the alphatron in the corner of the screen.Bell Rings. With only a 30 minute time limit on the clock, BK and Kudo are aware that they can’t afford to waste any time, certainly not when they aren’t in a winning position. BK is the first to make a move, and charges at Kudo, going straight for a clothesline to stamp some authority on the match. Kudo, however, has very different ideas; he uses a rapid drop toe hold to bring BK down, kips up with great athleticism, and then produces a lightning – fast La Magistral roll up pin. The referee drops down and counts, 1…2…th – BK breaks free of the hold in the nick of time, making the crowd go “Oooooooh!” at the near miss. BK rolls himself back on to his knees, and looks up to see Kudo standing back up; Kudo pinches his finger and thumb together as if to say, “You were THIS close”. The crowd of course loves this, and immediately adopts the gesture; BK looks a little annoyed, but gets back up and retakes a fighting stance. He and Kudo circle, and this time Kudo breaks ranks first; he moves forward, and his feet become almost blurred as he hits BK with a string of kicks to the ribs before backing off again. The fans, who aren’t totally sold on either BK or Kudo, start to give Kudo some heat; Kudo ignores them and takes a run at BK going for his flashback elbow, but as Kudo jumps back BK grabs his foe and hits a Lungblower in a single fluid motion. This knocks the air out of Kudo, whose rapid style of offence is compromised by the move; BK stomps on his foe a good few times, and then pulls Kudo up, taking him across the ring to deliver a bulldog. BK pins, and gets a 2 count; as he and Kudo get up, BK smirks and taps his forehead, showing his opponent that mind games won’t work on him… The match proceeds at a swift pace; BK and Kudo almost dance around the ring, with strike and counter-strike coming thick and fast. Kudo clearly wants to get close to BK where he can do the most damage, so BK is determined to play more of a long game – every time Kudo gets close, BK whips him away so that Kudo has to start his approach all over again. This rapidly gets on Kudo’s nerves, and he thinks quickly to come up with an alternative; it comes to him as BK sends him to the ropes once again. Kudo drops into a baseball slide, and slides right out of the ring; BK runs to the ropes, realizing that it would be dangerous to lose sight of his opponent, but as he gets there Kudo jumps back up, gets BK in a headlock, and punches him repeatedly in the head and upper chest. The referee starts a 5 count, but at 4 BK solves the problem for himself, kicking Kudo in the lower abdomen through the ropes and then suplexing him back into the ring. Kudo rolls upon landing and is back on his feet in record time; he’s already in the air for the Spiral Dropkick before BK is aware of what’s going on, and it connects beautifully. BK stumbles and drops to the mat on his knees, and Kudo tries to lock in his Camel Clutch as a prelude to the Blackout, but BK isn’t prepared to be caught out in such a manner and throws Kudo off of him before he can brace for the hold properly. With the crowd getting into the match, BK knows that he’s got to start making this offense count, and signals behind Kudo’s back for the Yakuza Kick from Hell. BK throws himself against the ropes and tries to take Kudo down with his storming attack, but Kudo senses him approaching and ducks at the last second, lashing out at BK as he passes by. He hits BK around the face, stinging him and distracting him; with BK facing away from him Kudo takes a run up and is about to launch a big move, but just as he starts to rise BK swivels around and smashes Kudo with the Shades of Michaels. Taken completely off guard, Kudo hits the mat, and BK drops on top of him, hooking the leg. The referee counts, and Kudo’s kick is on just the wrong side of the 3. Philip: BK London scores a Pinfall! The score is 1-0, and we have 22 minutes of this match remaining. BK struts around the ring as Kudo flips back on to his feet, shooting daggers from his eyes at his cocky opponent. The fans boo BK, who decides to take this as a bizarre sort of compliment and makes a mock bow; this turns out to be an error, as a rather angry Kudo runs up behind BK, turns around so that he’s back to back, and then hooks his arms, dropping to his knees and making BK fall and slide into a pin. BK thrashes, and only just avoids the 3 count; Kudo lightly hops back on his feet and taunts BK for his lack of focus. BK isn’t about to put up with that; he snatches at Kudo, grasps an arm and pulls him close before grabbing his head and hitting a vicious looking facebuster on to his upheld knee; Kudo bounces off, but comes right back at BK and shakes his world with his famed Brainbuster (which of course is greeted with the de rigeur cry from both announcers and fans. Again Kudo pins, and BK kicks free at the 2.5 mark; both men rise to their feet as quickly as they can, and BK strikes fast with a kick to the gut and DDT combo. He rushes back to his feet, and the crowd guess that he has another combination in mind; Kudo isn’t slow to get up either, so BK has to move fast as he leapfrogs over his opponent and then flips over into a powerful and stiff Pele Kick. This time, Kudo doesn’t have the adrenalin in reserve to power through the hit, and falls to the mat; BK makes an arrogant pin with one foot, and the crowd boos again as the referee counts 1…2... – Kudo gets an arm up, and BK gets only a second to see the look of fury that Kudo gives him before the Entertainment Champion literally explodes off of the mat, and starts to systematically wreck BK’s physical capability of contesting the match.

Kudo’s wrath is awesome to behold; the crowd have seen flashes of it in the past, but this is the real deal. Kudo blasts BK with hooked punches and kicks, all aimed at the upper body and head; BK tries to hit back, but Kudo’s rage will tolerate no opposition and even when BK slips to a knee, Kudo yells at his foe to stand back up so that the battering can continue. Only once BK is starting to look as if he’s fighting to remain focused does Kudo switch tactics; he has little difficulty in applying a tight triangle lock. BK is not the sort of person to give in without a fight, and he repeatedly battles to break free, with such spirit that some of the crowd get behind him and urge him to succeed; Kudo though is clearly on a one track mindset, and nothing that BK can do is enough to persuade him to relinquish his hold. With his energy draining, BK has to bite the bullet and taps out, which draws a small smile of satisfaction from Kudo.
Philip: Kudo has secured a submission, which evens the score at one all… there are 17 minutes of this match remaining.
The referee turns back to the ring, expecting to see the fight back underway – but instead he sees that Kudo has not released the hold, and if anything has cranked up the pressure. BK is still tapping, more urgently now; the referee orders Kudo to break, but it’s as if Kudo doesn’t even hear him. The fans aren’t impressed with this behaviour, and boo Kudo strongly; the referee gives Kudo a final warning, and when that fails to get any response, he starts a count of 5. The crowd just boos even more loudly; the referee reaches 4 and pauses for just a second longer, giving Kudo a final chance to comply; when he doesn’t the referee has no hesitation in calling for the bell a third time. Philip listens as the referee quickly explains what has happened.
Philip: Ladies and Gentlemen, for failing to answer the count of 5 to break his submission, the referee is penalizing Kudo and awarding a penalty fall to BK London. The score is therefore 2-1, and we are exactly halfway through this match….
By now it is crystal clear that Kudo is intent on leaving BK with a serious disadvantage in the rest of the match; the crowd boos loudly, and the referee has to take direct action. Fortunately the ref is no wet-behind-the-ears trainee, and has a good physique of his own underneath his striped shirt; a combination of physical force and the threat of DQing Kudo completely are at last enough to force him to let go. Kudo isn’t going to waste a second of the opportunity he’s created; he hurls the still weak BK into the corner, and traps him there with headbutts and kicks to any part of BK’s body that he can reach. BK tries turning around to protect himself a little, but Kudo just switches into attacking BK’s spine and knees, and after a few seconds of this, BK makes a bid to escape by starting to climb the ropes. Kudo though follows him, and performs a German superplex; BK’s grip is too greatly weakened through fatigue to resist, and Kudo bridges over into a pin, which BK just barely kicks out of before the 3 count. With his confidence high, Kudo just seems amused by the amount of booing and jeering that his tactics are creating amongst the fans; he gives BK another couple of hooked punches, and then slips behind him for his Ying-Yang suplex. Another pin attempt, and another last – gasp kickout by BK; Kudo knows that a fall is within his grasp, and eagerly closes the gap to his opponent – and then BK pulls one out of the bag, and punches Kudo between the eyes before performing a desperation Saturday Night Special. BK flops into a pin, the crowd surges with sound – 1….2…. – Kudo kicks, and springs back to his feet, again battling through the impact. BK has no defence as Kudo lands the Roaringiri, staggers, and THEN takes the effect of BK’s move, collapsing into the cover. The ref is still in position to count, and the fans’ enthusiasm soars as Kudo picks up the pin with the 3.
Philip: A fall for Kudo, that makes the score 2-2! There are ten minutes remaining in this match….

The fans are hanging on the edge of their seats; although they have a dislike of both men as individuals, the match has their full attention, and it’s clear that both men have inflicted considerable damage on their opponent. BK stares Kudo down; his legendary powers of recuperation are serving him well tonight, and he beckons his foe forward. Kudo needs no such encouragement; he’s right next to BK in a flash, and he shoves BK back hard against the turnbuckle before flipping over and into the tarantula in a single smooth movement. The fans’ interest rises rapidly, they are all waiting to see if Kudo will take another penalty fall in his quest to wreck BK’s stamina, and the referee starts his count…
1…
2…
3…
4…
-and Kudo lets go at the last second to comply, dropping back down on to the apron. BK is looking weaker with each minute that passes, and the referee comes over to see if he is fit to continue; as BK struggles to his feet, Kudo raises an arm and signals for a springboard attack. BK, however, hasn’t lost his capacity for turning a situation around by shady means, and as Kudo commits to the leap, BK “stumbles” and pushes the referee hard against the ropes. Kudo’s takeoff is screwed up, and he falls awkwardly, trapping his foot in the top rope so that he is left dangling facing away from the ring; the crowd boos BK’s trickery, and they boo even more as BK summons his reserves of strength and starts kicking Kudo in the back, trying to inflict as much pain as possible on his opponent. Kudo uses his flexibility to pull himself back up, but as he jumps back over the ropes into the ring, he grimaces with the ache in his back, and BK smirks, knowing this contest isn’t over yet…
With the clock counting down and both men having to dig deep for the energy to fight on, the atmosphere in the arena has become tense. Kudo and BK are moving around less in the ring now, conserving their strength wherever possible and launching into an attack only when they are certain that they can make it count. After a couple of minutes of this, however, it becomes clear that this is a recipe for stalemate, and that’s not what anyone wants to see; Kudo is the first to shift gears, and as BK whips him away Kudo reverses the move and charges after his foe, going for the Yakuza Knee Strike right as BK hits the ropes and bounces back. BK literally throws himself to the ground, rolling as if he’s just been thrown from a moving car, and rolls right into one of the ringposts; he scrambles to his feet, glances over his shoulder, and then taunts Kudo to try it again. Kudo needs little invitation; he dashes at BK, who steps forward and ducks the shot, shoving Kudo hard toward the post. Kudo crashes right into it, and there’s a cry of surprise and shock from the people directly in the line of sight; the shock becomes global as Kudo staggers out of the corner, turning to face the camera and revealing that he’s been wounded in the forehead, so that blood is now trickling down in thin streams. The turnbuckle pad is lying at the foot of the post, and the more observant fans realize that BK must have loosened it when trapped in that corner earlier. There is seriously loud booing, and BK almost snorts with laughter; Kudo, though, is completely beside himself with rage. He moves with lightning speed, and crosses the ring from the corner to connect with his spiral dropkick in the centre. The Spiral John Woo sends BK literlly flying backward across the ring to hit the turnbuckle on the other side, and Kudo hurls him to the mat away from the ropes and covers, 1…2….thr – Kickout! Somehow BK finds the energy to break free, and with 3 minutes remaining on the clock, the match is set to go right down to the wire….

Kudo has just one objective in mind as he clutches BK in a headlock and pounds at him; he wants his opponent KOed completely. With the blood streaming down his face, his expression is chilling; BK elbows his way out, and the fans are now wondering if it will be a case of who drops down exhausted first. Kudo is still intent on using the Yakuza Knee; he launches it again, and once again BK just barely manages to duck it. Kudo spins around and kicks BK in the gut with all his strength; BK gasps in pain, and Kudo lifts BK up on to his shoulders. The fans start to shout, eager to see if Kudo will finally complete the Soul Transfer; Kudo paces for a few seconds, tenses up… and then seems to come to a decision. Instead of going for the move, he simply slams BK down; some of the fans boo, but others understand that Kudo is heeding FSX’s advice… a tribute is never quite as good as the original, and Kudo knows he has to be true to himself. With BK just trying to rise, Kudo kicks him in the back of the neck, and then rushes to the nearest corner; the crowd yells for the Psycho Splash, a rare and powerful move, but as Kudo prepares, BK kips up and rushes to ascend the corner post too. The two men struggle, and Kudo almost pushes BK off… but BK has the last word, grasping Kudo and launching the pair of them skyward before hitting the London – Plex from the top rope, the London-Plex Omega. The crowd roars in amazement, and BK pins, with the ref there right away – 1……2……3- Kudo kicks, but not quite in time, and the fans just redouble their yelling so that Philip has to bellow into the mic.
Philip: PINFALL! The score is 3-2 to BK London, with 30 seconds to go!
BK and Kudo take about 10 seconds of the 30 remaining to get fully on their feet; BK’s expression is triumphant, Kudo’s one of disbelief. BK clearly wants to rub it in; he stalks Kudo, signaling for the Shades of Michaels once again. As the two make eye contact, blood is dripping on to the mat from Kudo’s face; BK smirks, and lunges into the kick to end the match. But Kudo moves his head aside by exactly the margin needed to avoid the blow, and leaps up to dropkick BK between the shoulderblades. BK drops to his hands and knees, and Kudo backs off, with the clock entering single figures…
10…
9…
8…
BK is struggling to his feet, and Kudo starts to run toward him….
7…
6…
5…
Kudo springs up, and this time the Yakuza Knee connects directly and at 200% power. BK’s pupils dilate on the spot and he drops to the mat…
4…
3…
Kudo dives for the cover… but BK is still in motion, and was hit close to the edge of the ring. He tumbles to the outside completely limp, like a sack of potatoes.
2…
1…
The bell sounds for the end of the match; Kudo is on his knees, the blood still slowly dripping from the tip of his nose. He can only see BK’s motionless hand, palm upward, on the outside of the ring.
Philip: The time limit for this match has expired… and your winner, by three falls to two…. BK London!
Kudo is helped to his feet by the referee; he walks to the ropes, and looks down to see BK’s eyelids just beginning to flicker. His emotions are mixed; he is extremely disappointed at the loss, but as he gazes upon his foe, he feels vindicated none the less; he has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is as powerful as he has always claimed.
The referee leaves the ring, and slowly helps BK to rise; BK smiles when the referee confirms the result, and gets back into the ring, raising his arms in triumph. But then he comes back, and faces Kudo; the crowd becomes quieter, as they wait to see what will happen. After a few seconds, he extends his hand to his opponent. Kudo pauses, but BK’s eyes tell him that the respect is genuine, and the crowd responds warmly as the pair shake hands, briefly but firmly in a real sporting gesture. Then, Kudo leaves the ring to return to the Armada locker room and be consoled by his teammates; BK takes a little longer, walking around the ring and climbing the turnbuckles, before the show cuts to a final commercial break.

While the show is technically off air for the commercials, everyone relaxes a little. It is a time of preparation, and expectation. Drinks are refilled, equipment checked, themes prepared in the sound editing room….
….and in a high, glass fronted chamber, a small ventilation window is opened, and a narrow, almost invisible cylinder pokes out. It points at a crewmember standing in the ring, checking the canvas and the ringside mics.
Valmont smirks, and puts an imaginary bullet into the technician’s body.
The next one will be real….

Match 8: ACW World Title Match Jonny Spade vs. Macho Man RDK vs. Daredevil In the arena, the crowd and crew are totally oblivious to the dark scenario that is unfolding in the skybox at the top of the building; they chatter excitedly as Philip re-enters the ring for the last time tonight, to conclude his announcing duties.Philip: Ladies and Gentlemen, our main event tonight is a triple threat contest, and it is for the ACW World Title! Introducing first, the first challenger – from Toronto Ontario, he is a member of the Untouchables…. Jonny Spade! ”Bodies” hits, and Jonny walks out into the strobe lighting effects. Most of the fans boo, but his small yet loyal core of supporters make themselves heard. They’ve waited a long time to see their idol take his place on the big stage of the World title scene, and they’re going to savour every moment.
Jonny gets into the ring and starts to stretch. His music is replaced by “Live and Let Die”, and the booing gets louder as the ever-confident Daredevil enters the arena.Philip: The second challenger, from Cardiff, Wales, he is also a member of the Untouchables… Dan “Daredevil” White! Daredevil heads to the ring quickly; he slides into it, and scoffs at the heat he’s attracting. He slaps hands with Jonny, and the pair share a few words before the match starts.
Finally, “Macho Man” hits, and the crowd rises as one as their hero comes out on to the stage, now carrying two belts and holding both of them aloft to the roaring throngs.Philip: And the last competitor, he is one half of the ACW Tag Team champions AND the reigning ACW World Champion… from Yellowknife, Canada, the one and only Macho Man RDK!! RDK’s theme music can barely be heard above the noise. RDK strides to the ring, slides in, and then gets up on all four turnbuckles, much to Jonny and Daredevil’s annoyance. RDK deliberately takes his time, and slaps the title belt before handing it to the referee. The ref holds it up and then passes it to the outside, and the fans send a wave of cheers around the arena as he gives the nod for the match to finally begin.Bell Rings. The crowd makes its feelings crystal clear as the three men lock eyes with one another; the chant of “RDK! RDK!” reverberates around the arena, and RDK raises a hand to his ear with a smile. Loud as the crowd are, however, they can’t physically assist their hero, and Jonny and Daredevil have a simple plan of their own, one which uses basic but inviolable mathematical law. Advancing together, they engage with RDK, and quickly demonstrate their formidable teamwork – as Jonny takes RDK on toe to toe, DD slips behind him and lays down a couple of clubbing blows to his back. RDK whirls around, arm extended, and knocks DD back a couple of steps, but in doing so exposes his back to Jonny, who boots him strongly in the base of the spine. RDK staggers for just a second, and DD and Jonny combine forces again, jointly whipping RDK across the ring. RDK hits the ropes, and bounces – but no, he thinks better of it and grabs the top rope to stop his movement. Jonny and DD, who are already running forward for a double clothesline, are caught out momentarily; RDK grasps the rope and lifts his feet off the mat, kicking both his opponents back to a loud pop, but DD and Jonny are resilient and they come forward again, succeeding in clotheslining RDK over the top rope to the outside. RDK lands on his tailbone, and DD leaps over the ropes into a plancha – but RDK rolls neatly aside, so that DD has to abort at the last second and roll forward on landing to protect himself. RDK is already up and ready as DD stands; he grasps his arm and whips him straight toward the ring, and DD is nailed with a baseball slide from Jonny, who is hurrying to join the battle on the outside. Jonny is obviously taken aback by this, but he doesn’t compound the error by taking his eye off the prize; RDK is already approaching, and Jonny uses hooked punches to defend himself as RDK tries to hook up for a suplex. Seeing DD starting to pull himself up, RDK backs away around the ring, drawing Jonny with him; the words “separate them!” are engraved on his mind, and he understands that success will hinge on his being able to prevent the two stablemates from combining their skills effectively. RDK piles on the pressure, landing a string of forearm blows and then powerslamming his foe on the thin outside mats; the crowd cheers, but their celebrations are short lived as they see DD get up on the apron, run along it, and leap into a crushing Enziguri before RDK spots the danger. RDK is badly dazed, and his knees buckle; DD acts quickly, and hauls him into the ring to make the first pin attempt of the match. It barely gets past one, but is significant none the less; Jonny rolls back into the ring, and finds DD setting RDK up for a powerbomb. However, RDK manages to sit up and slap DD in the face; DD drops his foe and RDK hits a swift DDT. Almost as soon as it’s landed, however, Jonny scoops RDK up and hits his S – Drop #1; DD sees Jonny making a cover, but does not make any attempt to break it up. The fans, who were initially a little skeptical, are seeing now that Jonny and DD really are working as a team rather than seeking personal glory at each other’s expense, and when RDK kicks out of the pin at 1.5, DD is ready to help his stablemate up so that they are both ready to confront RDK as returns to a standing position. RDK is put under great pressure as Jonny and DD wear away at him, steering the fight back into one of the corners. The fans are alarmed, and try to rally the champion by shouting and chanting; RDK hears them, and buys himself a little time by kicking DD in the gut, then grabbing Jonny by the head and bashing his skull against that of his stablemate. With the crowd yelling, RDK hops up on to the turnbuckle, and jumps off for a moonsault; DD and Jonny are too dizzy to catch him, and the fans pop as RDK takes down both his opponents in one move. Seeing that Jonny is sprawled on the canvas, RDK dives on top for an opportunistic pin; he gets close to 2 before Jonny kicks out, and DD capitalizes, grabbing RDK’s feet and setting up a rough but effective Boston Crab. Jonny extracts himself from beneath RDK, and gets up; DD hands him a leg, and the pair of them switch to single – legged versions of the move. RDK’s eyes almost pop out of their sockets, but he stays calm; Jonny and DD have neglected to check their positioning, and with a concerted effort RDK is able to grab the nearby bottom rope. DD keeps the hold on for the maximum count of 5 as Jonny lets go, and switches to stomping RDK in the back; as soon as he is free, RDK rolls away sideways, looking more and more annoyed at the situation he’s been placed in. Jonny and DD smirk, aware that they’re dominating the match right now; DD taunts RDK, challenging him to try and best the pair of them, and RDK raises his fists, determined to fight on even though it looks as if the situation couldn’t get that much more tricky – But he has no idea of what is unfolding above his head, and that he is in fact in immediate and mortal danger….

Ginger watches on helplessly as Valmont calmly loads his sniper rifle and begins to aim in the direction of the ring, where Jonny Spade, Daredevil, and RDK battle on without any knowledge of the dire situation that is occurring right above them. Ginger is being held firmly in place by Valmont’s two henchmen, he struggles a bit, but he is very overpowered by the two massive men. Still, he starts to shout something at Valmont, but he is quickly cut off by the older man’s callous laughter.Valmont: Please don’t insult my intelligence by giving me more of your empty threats, Mr. Chairman. Ginger: You wo— Valmont: Will one of you please shut him up? At that very instant Ginger is met with a staggering blow to his gut that knocks the wind out of him. He crumbles to the floor as Valmont and his henchmen laugh at their sinister work. Valmont looks triumphantly at the ring one last time and quickly focuses his right eye into the rifle’s scope. He is unusually calm and collected for a man who is hell bent on committing murder; then again, he’s always been a patient man. He slowly and carefully situates his crosshairs right at center of his own son’s back.Valmont: It won’t be long now… No, it won’t be long at all… There we go… Now it’s time to do something I should have done a long time ago. : NO! Valmont: What the---Suddenly, without warning, Julien knocks down the Skybox’s door and starts to charge towards Valmont. Valmont is intent on getting his shot off as soon as possible and doesn’t even turn to face his attacker, instead, he shouts a very clear order to his henchmen.Valmont: I don’t have time for this! STOP HIM!!! Henchman #1: Yes boss. Henchman #2: We’ll make short work of this bothersome fly. Thankfully, nobody has time to roll their eyes at this timeless cliché filled exchange as Julien lowers his head and tackles the first Henchman fairly easily. He lands two quick powerful blows to the goon’s jaw before turning his attention to the second Henchman, who in an attempt to save his comrade, knocks Julien off of his perch with a nicely timed sucker punch. In his adrenaline filled rage, Julien barely even feels what should have been a crippling blow and fires back with one of his own...and another…and another…and another… After soundly disposing of the second henchman, he turns to take the fight to his own father… However, when he turns, he comes face to face with the muzzle of a gun. Valmont stares into his son’s eyes with a fiery glare, and then speaks to him with venom laced words. Valmont: Well…well…well, it doesn’t look like this has gone as well as you planned, has it, my son? You thought you could be the hero, didn’t you, you ungrateful little…Julien: Damn you…Valmont: Damn me? Damn ME? I think it’s time that your old man taught you one final lesson. Valmont turns and fires a bullet right through the Skybox’s window, causing it to shatter into countless pieces. There are numerous loud, ear piercing screams in the crowd, and then a hushed silence as the arena turns to face the sound… In the ring, all action stops as they turn to face this unknown threat as well. However, all of this doesn’t even phase Valmont as he calmly points the muzzle of his gun back at his son’s chest. Julien: Have you completely lost your mind? Valmont doesn’t seem to hear these words… Perhaps he truly has lost his mind. Valmont: Since you’ve demanded my attention… I’ll have to put an e—Valmont is cut off as Ginger, the unlikeliest of heroes, quickly kicks the sniper rifle out of the crazed man’s hands. Julien uses this opening as a chance to strike and throws a fierce punch at that strikes his father squarely between his eyes. Upon staggering backwards from this attack, Valmont decides to adopt the classic strategy of “He who turns and runs away lives to fight another day” and quickly runs out of the Skybox, with Julien in hot pursuit. Ginger, who is as white as a ghost, kicks the sniper rifle to the side one last time and looks at the ring for a second… RDK looks and turns to head to his brother’s aid and it looks like this main event and Pay-Per-View event will have to be scrapped as of right now… Ginger, ever the showman, quickly grabs a mic and tries to get things under control again.

Ginger: All right you three, the show must go on. Security will be able to handle this intrusion, but I don’t think our ratings could handle a botched main event… Randy, we won’t let him get away with this. All of you, continue the match - the fans came here to see a world class contest, and I know you won’t let them down. Okay?
RDK is obviously still churning up inside with worry, but he slowly nods, and then fixes DD and Jonny with a stare. Jonny and DD immediately understand that the stakes just got raised exponentially; if RDK has to go through them both to get to his brother, that’s exactly what he’s going to try and do… and his brother would not want him to throw the match. The referee checks that it is now safe at least for the time being to restart the match, and the fans cheer with a new fire as all three men throw themselves back into the fray…
RDK is like a new man; he bursts forward, and knocks down both Jonny and DD in a single movement. Rushing on to the ropes, he bounces off and looks to repeat the move, but Jonny and DD keep their cool and this time they duck underneath the attack without too much difficulty. RDK though has another string to his bow; as he passes by, he grabs DD’s arm and swings him around, releasing just as DD is lined up with the middle of the ropes. DD goes flying out between the middle and top ropes, and RDK hurries around to start punching Jonny whilst still keeping his eyes toward the direction in which he threw Daredevil. As the pair swap blows, RDK is in the right position to see DD get back up on the apron; with a smile, RDK goes for a superkick without warning, and Jonny just manages to dodge it; DD, however, walks right into the kick and hits the mat. Jonny is no slouch when it comes to grabbing an opportunity either, and as RDK has his back to him, Jonny takes hold and delivers a thunderous Killswitch that makes the crowd wince. Jonny pins for a solid 2 count, and pulls RDK back up to his feet; RDK shrugs off the ache in his back and executes a stream of piston-like punches that has the referee watching closely for any rule infringement. Gasping for breath, Jonny doubles over, and RDK gives him a knee to the face before running him to the edge of the ring and bundling him to the outside, hopping over DD as he does so. The crowd starts to get noisy, as DD is a little groggy; RDK has to make these few seconds count, and he rushes in, lifting DD up and hitting a standing Samoan drop before making a pin. It gets a 2 count, but DD shows off his fortitude with a defiant breakout, and the match is still some way from being decided as the two men face each other once again.
The fans are continuing to support RDK, but this is of no concern to Daredevil; his ability to soak up punishment comes to the fore as RDK slips behind him and applies a sleeperhold. DD struggles, but not as hard as some people might have predicted; the logic behind this becomes apparent as Jonny rolls back into the ring, and makes a beeline to assist his stablemate. RDK has to release the hold, shoving DD into Jonny to give him a second or two to prepare himself; Jonny cushions DD’s collision, and then shows off an inspired piece of teamwork as he takes aim and whips DD right back toward their mutual foe. With his pace accelerated, DD launches himself into a mighty spear, driving RDK back against one of the posts. Both men embark on a frenzy of stomping as they attempt to obliterate any resistance from their opponent; trapped, RDK has only one option, and that is to bail out to the outside. Jonny quickly steps through the ropes, and takes a leap to try and splash RDK – but the Macho Man pulls up his knees, giving Jonny a very painful landing. DD is more cautious in his approach, but RDK’s on a fresh adrenaline surge, and he parries DD’s punch before hurling him at close range against the steel ring post. The fans go wild as they see both Untouchables on the canvas; RDK looks at them both, and then slides into the ring, pacing close to the edge. The fans are confused as to why RDK hasn’t tried a pin on one of them, but as the referee’s count reaches 6, they start to understand what RDK is trying to do. Jonny is the first to move back to the ring; he gets on the apron, but is immediately knocked back by RDK. DD tries the same thing with the same result, and the fans can see that RDK is trying to run the count out on his opponents. The ref hits eight, and Jonny and DD move further apart before trying another assault on the ring; RDK bounces around like a pinball, knocking them down several times, but finally on the cusp of 10 DD slides in and hits RDK with a Fisherman’s suplex, giving Jonny just enough time to make it back before the 10 is given.
With RDK on the mat, DD locks in his Fujiwara armbar; the fans shout angrily, and urge RDK to resist. RDK’s face is etched with pain, but he shakes his head and refuses to tap; equally though he cannot escape the hold, and after about a minute or so, DD calls for Jonny’s assistance. Jonny holds RDK down while DD switches the hold over to the other arm, and the fans boo more loudly as they see what is going on. Both Jonny and DD yell at RDK to give up, but the words simply don’t appear anywhere in the Macho Man’s mental dictionary, and DD’s frustration grows; thinking hard before making a decision, he calls Jonny over, and says something inaudible. Jonny looks a little surprised, but agrees to the request; DD keeps RDK restrained as Jonny applies and locks in his Haas of Pain submission. Now all of RDK’s limbs have been or currently are being tortured, and his face begins to stream with sweat; DD breathes deeply, reenergizing himself, and some of the fans are surprised that DD has taken the gamble of allowing Jonny to use his favoured submission, even though if it were to be successful Jonny would be the one who gained the World Title. RDK is looking more and more weary, but even as his strength is waning, the image of his brother enters his mind; RDK holds his hand up, and is tempted as he has never been tempted before to surrender in the hope that he can reach his sibling before anything terrible can occur… but the fans say no, shout “Hold on!” and RDK almost hears Julien telling him the same thing. His breakout is violent and unexpected, taking both DD and Jonny unawares; RDK twists and thrashes so that Jonny’s grip is compromised, and as he flips on to his feet, he looks all around him at the cheering hordes.

RDK: Machomaniacs! If you’re out there, let me hear ya all now! Who’s the greatest ACW champ there is?
Crowd: MACHO, MACHO MAY-UNN!!
RDK: OOOOOOOOOOH YEAH!!
DD and Jonny know what’s coming; they’ve seen it before, but still they believe that this time they can ride out the storm. They follow the old adage that “attack is the best form of defence”, and throw themselves into the battle with grim determination, but RDK is machoing up further by the second, and with a hormone rush sweeping around his body he powers through their joint attacks, headbutting Jonny in his hyper state and then delivering a mighty stalling suplex to DD. RDK pins, and gets just past the 2 count; undeterred, he leg drops DD to keep him on the mat, and then hits Jonny with a backbody drop. Jonny comes down right on top of DD; the ref furrows his brow for a second, and then drops and counts! The fans are gobsmacked, and so are all three competitors; RDK rushes in and breaks it up at the last second, and Jonny and DD are unsure exactly how to react to the information which had slipped their mind until that second. The fans wait to see if the two men will try to take advantage of the triple threat status of the match; Jonny and DD execute a double suplex on RDK, and then look one another in the eye. With RDK down, either one could steal the belt by pinning a willing accomplice; Jonny scratches his head, but their deliberations are interrupted as RDK rolls back to his feet and comes forward to attack once more. DD deals with it by hitting RDK with a standing dropkick to the face; as RDK rolls, holding his nose, DD gets an idea. He puts one hand behind his back, and Jonny gets the idea and does the same; the pair count 3, and then produce – two balled fists. They try it again, and get two “scissor” shapes; despite their heel status, the crowd is amused by the novel method of decision making. On the third try, Jonny reverts to “rock” as DD stays with “scissors”; DD looks a little disappointed, but with RDK getting back to his feet, there’s no time for argument. If the stable wants to take the title, this is their best chance….
The sly dealing hasn’t been lost on RDK; he realizes now that he has to end this match with all haste if he is to prevent himself being screwed out of the title by superb stable tactics. Jonny and DD have a similar mission – all that matters to them is incapacitating RDK long enough for them to set up the pinfall. The crowd is yelling urgently now; all three men have spent most of their energy, and one mistake could cost them everything; RDK charges forward and lifts DD for a running powerslam, but as he executes it Jonny grabs him and pulls off the Jonormous Slam! The crowd shrieks in dismay; DD is already on the mat, and Jonny drops into the cover, 1….2… - RDK rolls over and drags Jonny away at the final moment, causing Jonny to audibly swear in anger and frustration. All three men get up; for about 2 minutes the action swings on a knife edge, as pin and counter – pins are made and broken. Then, with the fans rapidly approaching a hazardous cardiac state, DD signals for his most devastating move, the Shellshock D or Welsh Destroyer; Jonny batters RDK until he is barely able to stand, and Daredevil smirks as he sets up the move. With the gold in his reach, he lifts RDK and swings him around with huge force –
WHACK. DD feels the vibration as RDK’s legs travel upward for the piledriver finish; Jonny, standing just that tiny bit too close, has no chance whatsoever of avoiding the blow, and takes the impact directly to his head. He crumples to the mat, and the slowdown of the collision means that DD can’t lift RDK up to complete the move; RDK drops back to a standing position, breaks DD’s hold, and drills him with the Macho Slam. Instead of releasing the chokeslam, RDK holds on, lifts DD again, and hits the Jabroni buster; with the fans going nuts, RDK lifts DD one last time, turns around to check his bearings, and finishes with the RockBottom right on top of Jonny. The triple finisher crushes DD’s ability to resist, and RDK pushes him off so that he is side by side with Jonny. With the fans screaming and cheering, RDK covers both men at once; the team that fought together is pinned together, and the arena is filled with joyous celebration as the referee at last gives the 1,2,3.
Philip: Here is your winner… and STILL ACW World Champion, the Macho Man RDK!
Jonny and Daredevil are slowly coming around as RDK stands in the centre of the ring, listening to the adoring throngs; he takes back his belt, and holds it up high to them. There is no time, alas, for a drawn out celebration; RDK slides out of the ring, and the fans know that his battles tonight are not yet complete, as he hurries toward the exit to find out what’s happening in the back. DD and Jonny, meanwhile, are bitterly disappointed; the crowd though is not ungrateful, and applauds their efforts and hard work in the match. Although they maintain their scowling roles, this quietly pleases both superstars, and they leave the ring together, their bond as stablemates only strengthened by what has occurred in the ring.
The fans are still clapping and cheering as the alphatron comes to life; they settle quickly, knowing that perhaps the most dramatic action is still to unfold….

The camera picks up RDK running along the corridors backstage; he skids to a halt occasionally, asking crewmembers what’s going on, but no one seems to know.
RDK: Damn, brudahs! Someone must know where Ginger and the others are…
??: Up here, guys! Quickly!
The voice is one RDK knows well. He hurries to the stairwell ahead, where a group of firefighters are pounding up with breathing equipment and hoses. He spots Alicia directing the last of them, and the smell of acrid smoke fills his nostrils.
RDK: Sista, what’s happening?
Alicia looks at him.
Alicia: Randy, you have to promise me that you’re not going to panic, it’s really important. Can you do that?
RDK can feel the temperature of his blood descending, but he nods his head.
Alicia: Valmont…. he’s got Julien. They’re on the roof-
RDK is already climbing the stairs three at a time; Alicia has to grab on and hold him with all her strength.
Alicia: We tried that already! The bastard started a fire in the top of the stairs, they’re trying to put it out but it’s probably unsafe. Ginger’s already got plan B in motion, he’s outside. Come-
Her words are spoken to thin air; RDK is already storming toward the parking lot doors. Alicia pushes her hair back out of her face, and follows him….
It’s still raining lightly out in the lot; there are police cars parked haphazardly all over the place, and in the centre of the action, Ginger is fending off a medic who is trying to assess his condition after his ordeal earlier. He has a loudhailer in one hand, and is making copious use of it.
Ginger: I WANT A CORDON AROUND THE WHOLE BUILDING! E.T.A. ON THE ARMED RESPONSE UNITS, PLEASE-
He sees RDK running up to him.
Ginger: AH, RDK, YOU’RE HERE-
RDK clamps his hands over his ears, and Ginger realizes his mistake. He lowers the loudhailer.
Ginger: Oh, sorry. Yes, well, we have a slight situation at the moment.
RDK: A slight situation?! Brudah, Valmont nearly shot me in the middle of the match! He could do anything to Julien up there, I can’t let that happen! We have to get to them right away!
Ginger: I know, but the stairwell is out of action.
Alicia gets her breath back, and looks up at the building.
Alicia: I still think I could climb up there. I did it before with Skurai, remember?
Ginger: Yes, but this is different. The wind’s bloody evil tonight, and we’ve got all that scaffolding in place for the roof work while we’re on tour… it’s too dangerous for anyone to play the hero or heroine. Plus we have no idea of how Valmont is armed.
RDK: So what are we going to do? Ginger, he’s practically the only family I’ve got left. Please, there has to be a way…
The crowd is listening, entranced. They have never heard such a vulnerable edge in the Macho Man’s voice before, and it speaks to something deep within all of them. Those attending with partners or kids hold them a little closer.
Ginger: There is a way, my friend… and I think I can hear it arriving now.
The three turn their heads toward the faint noise on the wind; suddenly, the shot changes, and the alphatron shows a stunning overhead shot of the city. The camera is being handled by someone in the ACW helicopter, and as he pans to the left, a second copter hovers into the frame, this one in Police livery. The shot closes on the arena from above, and the cars and people around them come into focus as the two helicopters land.
The shot switches back to the ground camera; Ginger runs up to the Police copter.
Ginger: Great…. hang on, where’s the marksman?
Police Officer: He got stuck in traffic… I’ve got a rifle and my basic license. Hopefully it should be enough to scare the offender into giving up… but we can wait for the other guy if you want.
Ginger: No, we haven’t got time… we’ll just have to gamble. Everyone, get in quickly!
Police Officer: Sorry, this aircraft’s only rated to carry four people.
Ginger thinks quickly.
Ginger: All right… Randy, take our camera copter. We’ll try and divert Valmont’s attention, you tell the pilot to take off and then approach from the other direction in a wide arc… if it comes to it, you can get on to the roof that way.
RDK nods, and makes a run for the ACW helicopter; it takes off quickly, flying away from the building.
Alicia: So what do you want me for, then?
Ginger: I have to try and talk this nutcase down… and it’s scaring the shit out of me. Just… just back me up, will you? And if the situation demands it and we have to go in manually, you’re my bodyguard.
Alicia: Oh, lovely. Nothing too hazardous, then… I hope Victor isn’t watching this. He’ll have a fit…
She hops into the back seat of the copter, and Ginger gets in beside her. The cameraman’s hand can be seen tapping on Ginger’s shoulder.
Ginger: What is it….Oh, you’re kidding me… just give it here.
The camera angle wobbles all over the place as the equipment is passed to Ginger, who passes it over his shoulder so that AK can hold it up. The helicopter rises slowly, its spotlights coming on at full beam.

Alicia (out of sight): I hope I’m going to get overtime pay for this. I want union rates, you know.
Ginger: Shh. Oh….. my god.
The helicopter has reached the roof level; the sound of its rotors is thunderous as it hovers around 15 feet from the edge of the building. Standing clearly in the light is Valmont, his scuffed clothing whipping around in the wind with his silver hair; he looks dangerously calm. Julien’s expression couldn’t be more different; his face is a mask of fear. The blade of the knife that Valmont has pressed to his throat is around inches long, and gleaming wickedly in the light.
Valmont: At last… I thought that my son and I were going to freeze to death out here.
Ginger: Valmont, you’re a nasty twisted piece of work, but I know you’re nobody’s fool. What do you hope to achieve through this?
Valmont laughs a little, his cruel tones lost on the wind in an instant, but scarred on the memory permanently.
Valmont: What do I want? The same thing I have always wanted, ignoramus. To prove that I am the superior intellect, the alpha male if you’ll forgive the pun. I had such high hopes, you understand… I wanted to craft my offspring in my own image. I always suspected that Randy would disappoint me, but I realized tonight that it’s this waste of space here that’s really let me down.
Ginger struggles for words as he looks down at the unhinged man before him; in the distance, a small light is growing bigger. Ginger hopes that the sound of their helicopter will mask that of the second one…
Ginger: Listen, Valmont… you don’t have to go through with this. We don’t want to see anyone get hurt-
Valmont: You are lecturing ME on hurting others? YOU signed not one, but both of the matches I had with my son! You contrived to turn my one faithful son against me! Your federation has been the venue for some of the bloodiest, most sadistic matches ever fought, and almost all of them were carried out using contracts with YOUR signature on them! No, you cannot wash your hands of the responsibility, Mr. Chairman….
The light behind Valmont is very bright; the second copter is moments away from touchdown…..
Valmont: …..you are directly responsible for my disgrace, for my family’s humiliation, and you leave me no other option than this. Julien… you go first.
The audience screams as Julien’s eyes widen; in terror, he reacts on instinct, and bites hard into his father’s arm. Valmont yells, and Julien tries to break away; he turns, and his heart leaps as he sees RDK jump from the helicopter… but Valmont clutches the back of his shirt, and plunges the knife deep into his own son’s back between the ribs.
Julien is too shocked even to cry out; he drops to his knees, and falls forward into his face as Valmont rips the blade out of his flesh. A few of the fans pass out at once; the rest see the camera jerk and fall on to its side, as the helicopter is filled with shouting.
Ginger: SHOOT! SHOOT HIM, GODDAMMIT!
Police Officer: It’s… it’s too unstable, I can’t line up the shot!
Ginger: Oh, for FUCK’S sake! GIVE ME THAT!
Police Officer, Sir, I can’t possibly-
Alicia: Ging, what the hell? Incapacitate him, a head shot’s the only-
The shouting becomes mixed up; the camera, lying on the floor of the helicopter, is still pointing down at Valmont and RDK. RDK is walking toward his father, the walk becomes a run, Valmont with his back to the shot raises the blade up high-
And then there is an almighty BANG, and a momentary flash of light. The rifle bullet strikes Valmont in the small of the back, and exits through the front of his abdomen before burying itself in the roof covering. RDK almost hits the floor himself, he stops so abruptly; his face is a picture of total shock. It’s impossible to see Valmont’s face, even as he stumbles sideways with his lower back drenched in crimson, and topples off of the side of the roof into the alleyway below…
All the shouting in the police helicopter has stopped. No one speaks for a moment.
Police Officer:……Holy Shit.
Another pause.
Ginger: There… it…. we had no choice.
The camera, still rolling, shows RDK kneeling by his brother; he touches the bleeding wound, and seems in a world of his own.
Alicia: Ginger…. they need help up there. We have to go down and get the EMTs right away and ferry them up.
Ginger: What?......Oh, yes, god, of course. Quick, take us down.

The helicopter starts to descend; no one says anything as they drop down and land in the parking lot once again. Almost all the crew and roster seem to be outside now, all trying to find out what’s going on. Ginger is heard shouting indistinctly, and then a couple of medics come running up to him, and get in the helicopter. The camera shot is righted at last as the cameraman retrieves it.
As the helicopter lifts off, Ginger and Alicia look at one another. They know that they’ve done all they can directly for the Kanyon brothers… but there is still the matter of their father.
Alicia: I’ll lead. That’s what bodyguards do, right?
Ginger: I’m right behind you. We move slowly and carefully, ok? You two, follow us. I want this recorded in case of any disputes later.
With the police engaged in crowd control, Alicia and Ginger walk toward the alleyway alongside the building. The camera follows them, its mounted light giving them some limited vision. After they’ve moved forward by about 10 feet, there is a rustling sound, and everyone freezes.
Ginger: Be ready… a wounded animal fights the hardest.
They brace… and then a small black figure walks out into the light, and meows.
Alicia: Richard Parker?
Richard Parker meows again, and runs ahead a few feet before looking back.
Alicia: I think…. we should follow him.
Silently, the group proceeds forward, picking its way around a number of trash dumpsters. When they reach the end of the line, their noses tell them that they’ve found what they were looking for.
Rubbish never smells pleasant, but the upended dumpster has an extra, almost vomit-inducing fragrance; the scent of hot, metallic blood, and human excrement. Valmont is lying a couple of feet away, with a scarlet pool forming around his lower body and legs. The exit wound of the bullet is messy, and fortunately the camera does not focus in on it too closely.
The stained blade is lying in the trash. Alicia walks forward, and uses an old rag to pick it up and hand it to Ginger for safety. Valmont turns his head a little, but it’s a major effort.
Alicia gets down on one knee, primed in case of a sudden attack; her intuition, though, tells her that Valmont is already too weak for this.
Alicia: Mr. Kanyon… in a situation like this, you have a simple choice… that of comforting lies, or hard truths.
Valmont raises an eyebrow. Ginger thinks to himself how like RDK he looks at that second.
Valmont: If I ask for lies….?
Alicia: If you wish for it, I can hold your hand, and be the very spirit of compassion. I can tell you that everything will turn out well, that help is coming, and that salvation is always possible. And I will maintain that soothing fallacy until you are no longer in need of it.
Valmont looks away.
Valmont: I have never been a liar, my dear.
Alicia: No… neither have I. So we must confront the truth, and the truth is that you are dying. Your kidneys and intestines are shredded beyond repair.
Valmont (sarcastically): So you’re a doctor too, now?
Alicia just continues to look at him. The scene was once a familiar one to her, horrifyingly familiar, but she does not allow the past to creep into the present.
Alicia: I have seen more than enough passings to know when the shadow of imminent death is upon someone. And whether you believe that there is anything beyond this thin film of existence or not, you have sullied this life of yours with selfishness, malevolent intent, and actual grievous harm to those who looked up to you for love and guidance. A better man would be paralyzed with shame.
Valmont’s eyes are alight with bitter anger; he spits at Alicia, barely missing her.
Valmont: Such words… one would think you had been appointed inquisitor of the human race! How do you look at that conceited face in the mirror each morning? You have no right to judge me, no authority to save or condemn!
Alicia closes her eyes, and shakes her head.
Alicia: No… I have no divine influence, and I do not claim such. What I have is the same as that granted to every man and woman alive… the ability to form my own opinion, and my own memory. And when your eyes close for the last time, Valmont Kanyon, whatever else you may become, the person you are now will be erased, lost, gone forever. All that will remain of you will be the memories and emotions that you have sown in the hearts and minds of others, a sad, malformed and pitiable creature. So much for your great legacy.
All is silent for several moments. Valmont is left without words as the reality of his situation sinks in, and for the first time, he looks afraid.
Alicia: But…..
He raises his eyes, and meets hers.
Alicia:…there is still time, even for you, even now, if you are prepared to let me show you the way.
Valmont says nothing, but a tear forms at the edge of one eye. Alicia looks at Ginger.
Alicia: Help me to carry him…

Ginger walks into the shot; they have to be careful to avoid slipping on the pooled blood. They lift Valmont up between him, and carry him out of the alleyway; as they emerge blinking into the light, they see that the helicopter has landed, and that Julien is on a stretcher being pushed toward a waiting ambulance.
RDK keeps pace with the trolley; he holds his brother’s hand, and is talking to him, reassuring, simply being there. As the crew open up the doors of the ambulance, Valmont gazes upon the scene.
Valmont: He…they…they were prepared to risk everything for each other.
Alicia says nothing, but nudges the sound man, who hands his boom to the camera man and runs over to the pair. He speaks to RDK, and Randy looks up as Alicia and Ginger carry Valmont over. The medics rush over another stretcher, and Valmont is laid down upon it. He looks at both his sons.
Valmont: Julien…. forgive me.
Julien’s eyes are closed; he is battling for life himself. Valmont turns weakly to RDK and his pupils contract and dilate; his vision is failing.
Valmont: And you, Randy… there are so many words, but I have time for just one, son. You are a Kanyon, and always will be…
His last words are barely audible to anyone but RDK and himself…
Valmont: Randy… Macho Man… you are a… success.
There are times when one look, one word, can change a person’s entire existence… this is one of those times. Valmont closes his eyes, and lets go of life peacefully; the whole parking lot, the whole arena, is completely silent and still. RDK’s voice will not come to him, so he simply mouths the word “goodbye”… and then the world moves on again, and the tableux comes back to life. The medics put Julien into the ambulance, and RDK gets in with them; he has no time to even think about the others who helped him. The crowd outside disperses as the ambulance screeches off into the night, and Ginger and Alicia disappear into it; they will have to come to terms with events in their own time, and in their own ways. The screen fades to black as the ACW helicopter takes off, and flies away from the arena…
Samhain, the night of the turning of summer into winter, has taken another soul with it… but ACW only grows stronger, and it is preparing to call more of its offspring home, even as it heads out into the wide world…
The last two months will be a new journey of discovery, and there are many more secrets yet to be revealed…..
Fade to Black.
End of Show.
My thanks to everyone who contributed to the show tonight; special thanks go to Daredevil, who again has pulled off a huge writing feat with both the main show and fallout, and to Rose, who wrote the Skybox battle at short notice and with his usual amazing skill. Cheers, guys, I hope you all enjoyed the end product.
