Hunter takes a deep breath and bends over in pain. He's finally done it and won the match as well as his freedom. But his freedom depends on his next actions. There's no one around to prevent him from taking his full revenge. Latino is lying motionlessly on the floor behind a simple cell door to which he has the key. Will he do it? Hunter's hand trembles as he slowly inserts the key into the keyhole.
?: WAIT!
Hunter turns and sees three men running toward him. Two of them he instantly recognizes as Will Anger and the prison warden. The proprietor of the yell was Will, and he's the one leading the pack.
Will: Hunter, don't do it!
Hunter: I have every right, Will. Double jeopardy. I can't be tried twice for the same crime.
Will: I don't think that's how it works.
Hunter: I don't care. Don't stop me.
The warden quickly reaches his arm forward and grabs Hunter.
Warden: Don't move a muscle, son. There's something you should hear.
Will: This man is Dr. Robinson, the guy who told me about all of this.
Robinson: ...hi.
Hunter looks at the man in front of him, clearly not amused. There are other things he'd rather be doing at this moment. He doesn't even want to listen to them.
Will: Hunter...we don't think it was Latino.
Now he's listening.
Hunter: ...what?
Robinson: Well, it's really simple. I was watching television on Monday and I saw Mr. Laureano's..."confession". There's something I didn't like about it.
Hunter: What?
Robinson: He says he didn't understand the machines that well, he didn't know how to turn them off. So he said he simply smashed the machines with a hammer.
Hunter: And?
Robinson: ...the machines were turned off. That's how Cage died. It was someone with a full knowledge of hospital machinery.
Hunter: ...well he must've lied.
Robinson: There's another thing. I already said that I saw the man who did it, but it was in the dark. He approached me and gave me the number I called and said, "call when you have to." The man stood right next to me...
Hunter: So?
Robinson: Well, I'm about six foot five. The man that was in front of me was taller than me. Mr. Laureano is only five foot ten.
Hunter stands still, dumbfounded. All of this time...it was someone else. He had just been about to kill Latino...yet he would've killed the wrong man. A sinful laugh comes from behind him, and Hunter turns to see Latino grinning maliciously, sitting on the floor clutching his head.
Hunter: ...why?
Latino: You keep asking that. Can't you figure it out yourself?
Hunter: I know what's happened. But why did you do it? Why did you pretend to kill Cage?
Latino (counts fingers): …Uno…dos… About two weeks ago I was given a call. The man on the other line said he would give me $500,000 if I would just pretend to have killed your brother. You should know me by now chico…I don’t refuse money….especially that amount.
He chuckles and gets to his feet.
Latino: He said that all I had to do was wrestle with you, and in the end both of us would go free.
Hunter: I don't get it.
Latino: This guy, whoever he is, just wanted me to get you out.
Hunter: Why?
Latino leans closer and grabs the bars in front of him.
Latino: He just wants to fuck with you. Es un cabron. That's the guy who killed Cage. There's more to this than you even know. I'm just a messenger. You find that guy and you can find out what you want to know.
Hunter: ...he wanted me out...just so...
Latino: Sí. He likes to watch you suffer, yet he can't fuck with you if you're in a prison cell. This was all to get you out.
The warden clears his throat and Hunter turns toward him.
Warden: Given the circumstances, I'd like to apologize about this mix-up. You can go free. I'll take care of the paperwork and all of that stuff.
Hunter: ...thanks.
Will: Come on, Hunter.
Hunter drops the key in front of the warden and follows Will out of the prison. They get outside and Hunter looks up at the sky. He smells the peace around him, he sees the fearlessness. From behind him appears Latino, who simply walks by and smirks, then hops into his low rider and drives off. Hunter is left to stare blankly at the world in front of him. Someone killed Cage...and he has to find that someone. This man...whoever he is...he'll pay. Hunter will find him and get his revenge. But not yet. There's something else.
He has other plans.
Fade Out to commercials.

Segment: Straight and Narrow
The show comes back from its final break to find Alicia in her dressing room. She’s got a small plaster over a wound to her head, but otherwise looks to be OK after the double cross. Richard Parker watches as she puts her things back into her bag; the TV is still on, doubtless from where she’s watched Latino’s match with Hunter. Her cellphone rings (playing the main theme from “Starfox”, appropriately enough), and she answers it.
AK: Hello?..... Oh Victor, it’s you. Are you all right? You took some sick hits in that bloody match.
We can’t hear what Latino’s saying on the other end; AK walks up and down, and Richard Parker follows her step.
Alicia: Well you know that the matches you choose to get into are your own business, I just worry about you, that’s all. …….the three way? Uh, yeah, I think it’s best that we talk about that when we both get home.
More talking from the other end.
Alicia: No, I’m OK. It can wait, all right? Now, was there something else?
As Alicia listens, she starts to smile, and the smile becomes a grin.
Alicia: Victor, darling, I love you, but that is the daftest question I’ve ever heard.
The noise on the other end gets a bit louder.
Alicia: Honey, I have not done anything of a lesbian nature tonight.
More talking.
Alicia: No, nothing like that at all. What, you think it’s contagious or something?
Another burst of rapid speech; AK rolls her eyes.
Alicia: I don’t CARE what everyone else is up to. I’m not into that stuff, and I never have been. Look, I’m about as likely to be involved on girl on girl action as you would be to give Tracy Finn a blow job. Got it?
There’s a pause, and AK smiles again.
Alicia: Good. I’ll probably get home before you do…. and when you arrive, I’ll show you just exactly what I like in that department. Sound good?
Something that sounds distinctly like “Orale!” comes from the speaker.
Alicia: Thought so. Bye, darling.
Alicia shuts the phone off, and picks up her bags. Richard Parker meows, and Alicia lets him out of the room through the window before turning the TV off and making her own way out, as the scene fades.

Match 9: ACW World Title Match Yoko Satoshi vs. Macho Man RDK
The fans are emotionally drained after tonight’s events…. But the rollercoaster isn’t stopping yet. Philip enters the ring, and looks quietly pleased at being able to announce the match that many people thought would never happen.
Philip: The main event tonight is an intergender match, set for one fall, and it is for the ACW World Championship. Introducing first, from Yellowknife, Canada…. The challenger, the one and only, the Macho Man R-D-K!!!
”Macho Man” hits, and the fans go crazy; there is a short pause, and the RDK strides out into the light. The noise is amazing, and RDK looks emotional as he listens to the fans cheering him; then he walks to the ring, gets in, and shakes hands with Philip. He raises his arms to the crowd, but it’s clear that he’s preserving every bit of energy that he can for the match itself.
Philip: And his opponent, from Okinawa, Japan…. She is the current ACW World and Women’s Champion, the Flower of Carnage, Yoko Satoshi!
”Flower of Carnage” plays, and Yoko walks out to an equally big reception. She smiles, and pauses on her way down to let some bright - eyed youngsters touch her custom belt; it reminds her why she’s come back despite the apparent danger. As she approaches the ring, she can see that RDK is not looking at her, but behind her, and she realizes that he’s literally watching her back; she feels her respect for her opponent increase a little, and the pair of them shake hands warmly as the referee holds up the title belt. Then, formalities completed, the pair back off, and the referee gives the OK for the match to start.
Bell Rings.
Neither Yoko nor RDK have had an ideal preparation before their match, but perhaps the unique circumstances have given them both an unusual insight into each other; certainly, as they circle the ring, they keep their eyes locked together, with unreadable thoughts passing across the gap. Then, in a second, that gap is no more; they grapple, and though RDK has the weight advantage, Yoko manages to sidestep and send RDK across the ring a short distance to the ropes. RDK pushes his shoulders forward, and accelerates into the rebound; the result is that he’s charging back at Yoko with greater speed than she had expected, and there’s an “ooooh” from the fans as he connects, clotheslining her down with great force. Yoko rolls back up to her feet quickly, but there’s a flicker of discomfort from the fall, and this encourages RDK to continue his attack. Raising his arms into a classic fighting pose, he sends out a stream for forearm blows, each one making Yoko step back just a little, until she rallies and aims a couple of swift kicks at RDK’s knees. RDK’s advance is checked, and as he drops his arms for a second Yoko tries a dropkick. Anticipating this, RDK drops and neatly rolls forward right underneath Yoko while she’s in the air; as he rises she lands, and he tips himself over smoothly into an elbow drop before Yoko can get her bearings. RDK makes the first pin of the match; it gets only slightly more than a count of 1, but is far more valuable as a psychological boost than a serious attempt to win the match.
Yoko isn’t about to let RDK get cocky; as soon as she kicks out, she is on her feet and kicking in a different manner. A couple of strikes to the ribs make RDK wince, and Yoko tries using speed to her advantage, dashing to the ropes and bouncing off of them for a rapid rebound. RDK stands his ground and prepares to knock Yoko down; in response, Yoko ducks under and continues to the other side, though she only just manages to miss RDK’s swinging arm. RDK turns around and follows, and Yoko springs her trap – literally – by using the ropes to launch into a Lou Thesz press. RDK is brought down on to his back, and Yoko immediately grabs both his arms at the wrists and uses her lower legs to scissor RDK around the neck in a sort of choke. Instead of leaning back, Yoko leans forward so that RDK can’t kick her to get out; RDK bucks, but he can’t dislodge Yoko and the oxygen cutoff is making him lightheaded. What is can do, very slowly, is roll over on to his side, and then pull himself up so that he’s kneeling; the crowd watches, entranced, as RDK fights to actually stand up. Yoko increases the pressure, and he slips back to his knees on the first two tries – but on the third, he makes it. With Yoko still holding on (and now dangling upside down), RDK drops and sits into what is almost a piledriver, and the impact finally makes Yoko release the hold. RDK pushes her away, but Yoko won’t be discouraged that easily – while RDK is fighting his way back up she flips on to her feet and hits the flying guillotine. The pin follows, and some of the crowd are fooled into thinking it’s over – but RDK’s survived worse than this, and his defiant kick just after the 2 count shows Yoko that she still has plenty of work to do here.

Both competitors rise to their feet; there’s a pause as they consider their options, and the more astute fans can tell that they’re also both listening and looking for any sign of interference from Stanton or his “employees”. Once satisfied that all is well, RDK starts to advance; Yoko backs away, not wishing to engage until she’s sure the situation favours her, but RDK puts on a sudden turn of speed and catches Yoko by the hand. He hurries to try and get behind her to set up an armbar, but Yoko twists more quickly and frees herself, simultaneously whipping RDK across the ring and into one of the corners. It’s not the hardest of impacts, but before RDK can turn around Yoko dashes up behind him and takes a great leap up to land on his shoulders. The crowd, which has love for both Yoko and RDK, roars as Yoko sets about RDK’s head with her fists; the ref gives her a 5 count on this one, and at the 5 Yoko amazes the fans by launching into a handspring moonsault off of the turnbuckle, and coming to land in a crouch on the outside. The noise just gets louder, and too late Yoko realizes what the crowd are reacting to – it only takes a second for RDK to jump up to the turnbuckle himself, and Yoko is almost flattened by the Macho Moonsault as it connects. Such is the impact of the move that the referee is already on a count of four before either Yoko or RDK are anywhere near getting back to their feet. RDK is the first up by a small margin; he looks around briefly at the ringside area, and then gets back into the ring itself. Yoko follows him, and a glance between the pair of them suggests that with all that’s gone on, they consider the ring a safer place to be fighting than on the outside with all its possibilities for ambush.
As soon as they’re safely back within the ring, RDK shifts up a couple of gears, closing the gap to Yoko and hammering her with forearm blows and the odd chop to the body. He’s seen enough of Yoko’s matches to know that he has to reduce her capacity for the big athletic moves, otherwise defeat could be just one thunderous YKO away; Yoko does her best to minimize the damage, but RDK persists with his strategy, keeping Yoko held against the sides and corners and then striking with a succession of suplexes, landing Yoko repeatedly on her back. Yoko is certainly feeling the effects, and RDK’s fans get louder, cheering their hero on; then, RDK pulls off a Macho Slam, and the arena seems to hold its breath for the pin – 1…2..- Yoko gets an arm in the air, and for just a fraction of a second Yoko sees what she’s been looking for – a flicker of doubt in RDK’s eyes. The effect is immediate; Yoko suddenly seems to come to life again, and kips back up with a confident smile. RDK barely has time to register what’s going on before Yoko administers the Pop from Okinawa; RDK hits the mat hard, and Yoko throws herself into the pin. The ref is no slower, and the count starts – 1…2..- RDK almost bucks as if hit by some kind of electric shock, and Yoko looks more than a little surprised herself as she’s thrown off and carried a few feet across the ring. She rolls to her feet at once, and RDK too is back up; he looks around him, and holds his arms up defiantly in the air.
RDK: OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOH YEAH!
The sound of the crowd is practically taking on a life of its own now; the fans are riveted, for it seems that although physically Yoko and RDK are getting fatigued, their mental strength is just increasing. To her amazement, Yoko realizes that RDK’s hyping of the crowd is energizing her, too, and she charges into an attack driven not by hate, or even the desire to retain her title, but for the sheer unadulterated thrill of the match itself. RDK sees her coming, and steels himself for the impact; he almost, almost manages to absorb it, but Yoko tips him a tiny fraction past the point of no return, and the pair crash on to the canvas. There’s a few seconds of confusion as Yoko and RDK grapple with one another, and then RDK has Yoko’s shoulders to the mat. The referee counts, 1…2 – Yoko pushes the pair of them over and reverses, 1…2 – the count is broken by RDK applying his elbow to the side of Yoko’s head, and Yoko is dazed for a second, long enough for RDK to extract himself and very quickly set up a Boston Crab. The referee checks on Yoko, who though feeling the move seems to be coping quite well with the pain; she is only a few feet from the ropes and works her way toward them, but RDK forces her to fight for every inch. The savvy fans can see that RDK didn’t expect to win the match on this hold, but rather aimed to further compromise Yoko’s stamina; as soon as the rope break is made, RDK lets go and moves back about halfway across the ring before rushing forward. Yoko is holding the ropes to help herself back up, but she doesn’t have the strength to hold on as RDK’s tackle connects, and there’s a cry from the crowd as the pair fall out of the ring and land with a thump on the mats outside.

Any concerns that the pair might have had about fighting at ringside have now been overridden by the chase for a winning edge; both Yoko and RDK are tiring, and have realized that they need to take more drastic action if their stalemate is to be broken. Yoko scrambles to her feet, and backflips to avoid RDK’s punch; RDK retaliates with a swift kick to the gut and then a facebuster that makes Yoko reel. With the ref’s count in their ears, Yoko and RDK exchange punches and kicks for a few moments before Yoko whips RDK into one of the ring posts; RDK bounces off, grimacing in pain, and Yoko moves forward to lock up. With a great effort she suplexes RDK, landing him on the thin outside mats; power moves take a lot out of Yoko, and so she knows that she must only employ them when she can be sure that the damage will be maximized. The fans at the front lean forward to see what’s going on; then they all recoil as from around the corner RDK comes running with Yoko in tow, to bulldog her next to the security barriers. As RDK gets up, the camera shows his face flushed and dripping with sweat from exertion; nevertheless, he picks Yoko up, and rolls her back into the ring, stopping the referee’s count at 8. The fans are still cheering and shouting for their favourites, but the pace of the match has slowed now, and it takes several seconds for Yoko and RDK to get themselves back to a standing position. RDK looks around at the fans, and then at Yoko; without giving any warning of what’s coming, he rushes forward, almost scooping Yoko up, and reaches the corner. He climbs up to the second rope, and the crowd watches intently; then, with some effort, he pulls both himself and Yoko to the third rope, and the noise in the arena becomes almost deafening. Yoko struggles, but RDK won’t be denied, and he launches the pair of them off into the superplex, setting off a wave of cameras all around the arena that culminate in a blast of pure light at the moment of impact…..
Yoko and RDK lay still on the canvas; the crowd suddenly gets quieter. No one moves, and the referee starts a 10 count; 1…2….3…4…5...- RDK stirs, and holds his head for a moment. 6…7 – he rolls over, and drops an arm on to Yoko. The ref’s count is heard with crystal clarity, 1….2…thr –
Kickout! Yoko kicks, and the arena almost spontaneously combusts from the energy release. The camera gets a closeup of RDK’s face; the exhaustion is clear, and it’s not just from the match – it’s from all the extraordinary events surrounding it. The noise is STILL growing, as the two competitors struggle to their feet; Yoko runs a hand through her hair, feeling it soaked with perspiration, and raises one hand in the air. The crowd goes nuts as Yoko draws on everything she’s got left, and goes for the YKO; RDK sees it, and the last second is played out practically in slow motion, as RDK ducks… but not quite fast enough. The move connects, time resumes its proper pace, and the noise is so loud that the mics don’t even pick up the exaggerated crash of the ring being hit. More on instinct than conscious thought, Yoko slumps into the cover, and the crowd counts with the referee, 1,2,
………….
There is no 3. The crowd can’t believe it at first, surely they just missed it? But the referee is shaking his head… and RDK’s shoulder is up, no more than an inch or two, but it’s up. The fans are stunned, even the referee looks surprised… and as for Yoko and RDK, well, you could have knocked either of them down with a feather touch. They look at one another, and in that moment each recognizes in the other the sheer will to survive that has led them to this point; not just in recent days, but since the very start of their careers. RDK smiles, and Yoko smiles back, and that moment seems to hold for an eternity, perfect and precious…..

Then, slowly, they both get up. Neither tries to sneak an attack on the other. The fans can’t move, can’t breathe, can’t take their eyes from the ring; they can only watch as Yoko and RDK make a ring’s width gap between them, lock eyes… and then attack in one final glorious charge for victory. There’s no attempt by Yoko to disguise the YKO, and this time RDK doesn’t duck – instead, he forces every drop of power he has left into his foot, and as Yoko connects with him he twists and superkicks Yoko at point blank range in the jaw. The crowd screams, and RDK and Yoko collapse to the mat.
The referee, who’s seen more than his fair share of matches in the past, throws protocol out the window; he rushes to check that both Yoko and RDK are still breathing and not in any immediate danger. Only when he’s satisfied on that count does he start the other; the fans continue to scream, urging, pleading with their heroes to rise.
1…
2…
3…
4…
5…
6…
7…
Yoko starts to move a little, and her fans go wild; RDK’s respond with even more yelling.
8…
RDK rolls over and tries to get on to his hands and knees; Yoko puts weight on a leg, but slips back down into a half sitting position….
9…
RDK is close, so close… but can’t support himself, and ends up sitting back on the mat. The crowd watches as Yoko struggles to rise, she surely must make it… but her eyes flicker, and she drops back to the mat, looking disorientated.
10.
The bell rings, and the referee waves his arms, indicating that the match stops here. It takes the fans a second to accept what’s just happened, but Philip is on hand to clarify.
Philip: Ladies and Gentlemen, the referee has informed me that due to a double technical KO, this match is declared a draw. Therefore, still ACW World Champion…. Yoko Satoshi!
It takes another five or six seconds before Yoko and RDK are on their feet. The referee hands Yoko her belt, and RDK looks at it a little sadly, probably visualizing what might have been. But he’s never been a man to dwell on what can’t be changed, and the fans cheer as RDK walks forward and offers his hand in congratulation. Yoko takes it, and the handshake quickly becomes a warm hug; the crowd applauds them both, and the hug lasts for quite a while before the pair separate. Yoko looks around her, and RDK follows suit; they, like everyone else, were expecting some sort of grand parting gesture from Stanton.
RDK: Do you think he’s really given up, Sista?
Yoko thinks for a moment.
Yoko: I can’t be certain…. but I’m sure that ACW isn’t the only shady scheme that Stanton has running. Perhaps getting revenge on us isn’t important enough to risk any more attention from the authorities.
She shoulders her belt.
Yoko: And anyway, his tenure here doesn’t end officially until Tuesday. I won’t rest easy until he’s completely gone. But I think…. if it’s not tempting fate to say so… that we beat him.
RDK contemplates this for a second.
RDK: Yeah, we did, but it wasn’t just us. Stanton wanted to mould ACW into his own sick image, but lots of people resisted it in their own ways.
Yoko: I think you’re right.
The crowd are still cheering; Yoko and RDK hold up each other’s arms, and then leave the ring together. Neither won the match, but they’re victorious in another, far more satisfying way. The show ends on this happy image… but how long can it last?
What are Davey and the others up to?
Who is really behind Cage’s murder?
And does Stanton have a final card to play in his game with ACW?
Time, as always, shall reveal the answers.
Fade to Black.
End of Show.
