Match 7: ACW Light Heavyweight Title Match
Bre Double T vs. Mystery Opponent
The second match to feature an unknown opponent has the crowd as intrigued as the first. Philip is on hand to do the honors.
Philip: This match is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the ACW Light Heavyweight title! Introducing first, the champion… from Rochester, New York, Bre Double T!
”Enter Sandman” hits, and Bre comes out at a run, charging to the ring. He gets on all four turnbuckles, hyping up the crowd and showing off his title belt, before calming down and returning to the centre of the ring. The music fades.
The crowd is now silent, waiting to see who Bre’s opponent will be. The lights go out, and the some music starts to play over. “Petrified” by Fort Minor, more specifically. A figure walks out onto the stage, and stops. You can faintly see his baggy pants and the outline of his hair. His dreadlocked hair. He’s back.
Jake Cheng: ACW! Did you miss me?
The lights go back on, allowing home audiences everywhere to get a glimpse at the man they thought was killed weeks ago. And if the ACW were anywhere else in the World, Jake Cheng would have booed to oblivion. As it is, despite Taiwan’s ongoing dispute with China, the home fans cheer Jake as if he were their own.
Jake: I decided that tonight was the best night to come back, since you would be the only people who appreciate me.
The crowd goes crazy, but Jake has something else to say.
Jake: So, in return, you guys get to see me rid this unworthy asshole of MY LW Title.
The crowd is pumped up for this match, but still somewhat confused about how Jake is still living, but all will be explained in time...
Bell Rings.
There’s no doubting who the crowd favours here; Jake has the hometown fans firmly behind him, and Bre is wise enough to recognize this as a substantial advantage. Nevertheless, he’s not intimidated by the sudden reappearance of his stable rival; he moves forward quickly, and lands two or three chops before backing off to protect himself from Jake’s retaliatory kicks. Bre gestures with a motion to indicate a belt around his waist, showing that he has no intention of relinquishing the gold, but Jake’s on a high, and comes after Bre, laying into him with roundhouse kicks and then delivering a rapid suplex. Jake pins, and gets 1.5; immediately he cuffs Bre across the head and tries again, with the same result. The crowd just gets louder, and Bre shoves Jake off of him, hopping back on his feet; he knows that he needs to stamp his authority on this match, regardless of what the crowd feels about it. The “Original Asshole” has more than enough attitude to serve this purpose; he goes head to head with Jake, and batters him across the shoulders and chest before using the ropes to deliver a flying tackle, which transitions into a front facelock. Jake struggles to get away, and the crowd urges him on strongly; but Bre’s grip is like a vice, and he shouts at Jake as he holds him, attempting to damage his mental strength as well as his physical condition. Jake finally busts free, triggering a loud pop from the crowd; he backs away from Bre, and Bre follows him – a mistake, as Jake nears the ropes and then suddenly throws himself against them, rebounding straight into Bre and driving his elbow into his head. Bre’s vision blurs for a second, giving Jake the chance to get to the corner post; the crowd goes wild as he executes a stunning missile dropkick, sending Bre to the mat in a most painful manner. Jake pins, and gets slightly more than a 2 count; he jumps back to his feet, and this time he makes the belt motion, making the crowd cheer even more loudly.
The fans chant “Jake! Jake!” along with other phrases in Mandarin; Jake listens with obvious pleasure, but doesn’t allow his attention to be diverted from the matter at hand. Bre gets back on his feet, and the pair clash again, with fists and feet used to good effect by both parties. Bre manages to develop a slight advantage, and pushes Jake back to one of the corners; he steps up his attack, using rapid body blows and then getting up on the ropes for a Tornado DDT. Jake though hops up on to the opposite ropes across the corner, and the two men grapple; the crowd watches in amazement as they slowly climb up the ropes, still holding on to one another, until they are both perched on the top. A final tussle ensues, and it’s Jake who triumphs, lifting Bre up just long enough to dump him to the outside. The fall doesn’t do much damage – but Jake’s performance of the “Final Chapter” (Backflip 540 leg drop) certainly does! The crowd goes bonkers, and the referee starts a 10 count; Jake takes some of the impact of the fall, but shrugs it off, hauling himself back to his feet and bundling Bre back into the ring so that he can make the cover. He makes sure Bre is clear of the ropes, drops and pins, 1…2..thr- Bre’s shoulder rises at the very last second, and the crowd groans (although they’re quietly impressed by Bre’s resilience). Jake thumps the canvas, the delay in being able to make the cover cost him dearly… but all is not lost, as he gets up and runs to the corner, leaving Bre on the mat. Jake gets up and signals for a repeat; he does not waste time… but Bre pulls himself together and rolls out of the way, causing Jake to land heavily. Running on adrenalin, Bre gets up, and as Jake does the same, he digs deep for all the energy he has, and gets an arm around Jake’s neck. He uses Jake’s own body to kick up and flip himself over into the Doubled Over (Diamond Dust); it almost doesn’t succeed, but Bre just manages to get enough momentum to complete the move, and Jake takes the full force. Bre pins and hooks the leg, and holds things together for the 1,2,3.
Philip; Here is your winner, and STILL ACW Light Heavyweight Champion… Bre Double T!
The crowd boos in disappointment as Bre accepts his title belt back; Bre smirks at the crowd and at Jake, but doesn’t hang around. He knows that he was seconds away from losing the title, and that Jake isn’t going to be put off by such a narrow defeat… the most persistant man in the company is back, and clearly better than ever. Jake gets up, sore and a little angry, but this melts away as the crowd cheers; they don’t need to see a gaudy belt to recognize a superstar. Jake gets on the turnbuckles, and salutes the home fans, as the show cuts to a break.
OOC: Opening events credit to Jake.
