Disclaimer: These picks are of course my opinion. My opinion is neither right or wrong its just what I think. So if you don’t make the list, please do not feel that I don’t like you, what you wrote or that your promos were not as good as the one’s I have listed. I really don’t want people to get discouraged over things like these. Please, please realize that with the amount of talented writers that we have it’s a super tough job picking out just five promos. AJ'S PICKS! - “Why I am, BK London” by BK. I sure liked this one. BK indeed showed us EXACTLY who he is in this promo - one tough competitor that will sacrifice his well being for the wrestling business, or satisfying his own revenge, take your pick.. The beginning paragraph had some nice ACW history in it and BK made great use of our NPC’s. Another important part of promo writing is ending it with a good line. BK’s “Tonight I’m going to show you why I’m BK London” really concluded it with a POW!
- “Killing Caitlynn - Part 8” by Mainer. I’ve really enjoyed this series by Danny. Watching his character “grow up” week after week kinda reminds me of my “1988” series I did last summer, where I did the same thing. Obviously I am a big fan of back stories, when they are done right that is. In this part Danny does a most excellent job building up to a cliff hanger ending, one which has me eagerly anticipating the next edition come Thursday. So jump on board, take a ride, yeah .... (bonus points to whomever can tell me where that comes from)
- “Jake Steele Hype Video” by Jake Steele. You know why I dug this one so much? It shows there is another world outside of our beloved ACW. I was intrigued as I saw happenings elsewhere that appear to now tie into our own. I just love that stuff and we usually don’t see much of it. I mean, its kind of like Steele is showing us his wrestling portfolio if you will. While this isn’t a new idea by any means, its still nice to see concepts seldom used on the shows.
- “Spicy Villian” by FSX. Oops he did it again, he played with our hearts and now we are lost in the game! Alright, lets run down the list. Zombie Anthem (Steve protests!), Cookie Monster going “OM NOM NOM NOM” and a new section in the building named the “Hallway of Horrors.” If you have been in ACW for any long period of time you OWE it to yourself to check out FSX’s many mentions of characters past and to just have a good laugh. Humor makes the world go around and keeps the secret cutting down. Yay for that.
- “An Interview with a Lamb” by Sarin. Well now we know who Cesare was on the phone with on Thursday, none other that our dear Ms. Rossi! Yay! But seriously, Good GOD is this brilliant. The way Sarin tied her return in with the whole Lucrezia/Cesare storyline was perfectly planned out and executed. Remember how I just got done saying that ending a promo with some kinda bang or cliff hanger is a good way to hook readers? This has them both, my children. *Holds up placard* TEN!
P.S.: MJW joke FTW! P.P.S.: Poor Guttenberg. I shall miss thee.
Quote of the Show: From “A Proposal” by Sarin and myself. (Yes, I am including something I had a hand in writing this time, so sue me.) Aiden: Will you marry me? [/b] [She looks at him, her eyes swelling up with tears. She tries to resist saying her answer but deep down she knows she needs to stay true to herself.] Anna: I-I can’t. I love you, but I can’t...[/quote] Ouch. Well, at least that didn't happen on live TV in front of millions of people. Could have been worse.
