The Later the Greater...
So I never feedback’d Born Again but off the top of my head BK’s post-match segment was very impressive and an awesome setup to whatever is to come. Ending segment was also awesome, and FINALLY somebody is feuding with TK who can represent ACW. Shadow vs TK is a great idea. I don’t remember anything else off the top of my head, but a pretty good show all around, and also congrats to Criminal for his Entertainment Title win. Oh I just remembered Senator and CP had a good segment as well when they went to visit that guy. That was a good one.
As for this show…yeah…I saw the length of it. <_<. I dunno what happened, but it seems some people got a bit busy or something. I do apologize that this feedback wasn’t up in a timely manner. I believe that if people don’t comment on the shows people lose motivation to write, so Im sorry if my lack of feedback for Born Again or my late feedback for this show has affected anybody. If you guys think it makes a significant difference to you and you find yourself unmotivated unless the feedback is up in a timely manner Ill make an effort to get it up earlier, most likely Friday night. Sometimes I shoot for that but either have something else I have to do, or just don’t get around to it. I can try harder if it makes a difference to people.
Anyways, let the first show after Born Again commence!
ACW, Your Tears Are Delicious (TK, Train, Garland, Criminal, Thunderkiss) – I will first say that Train’s lack of effort in this “return” is quite obvious and very disappointing. While not happy he came back to SLA, I couldn’t wait to see more Train segments, and yet there were none this show, or last. Train’s lines in this promo and the Born Again one were very forced, and didn’t have that Train Charm, and I attribute that to what I assume to be Thunderkiss writing Train’s lines for him. I didn’t get the feeling at all that Train had any say in this one or the last one, and I’m pretty sure he didn’t. I hope that this is just a bad start, but if he isn’t actually going to do anything he probably shouldn’t be here <_<. Thunderkiss and Rena did a good job, as they have been throughout this angle. Overall this was a pretty good opening promo, and now that I have reflected on it the SLA angle could be good, and TK has been doing a very good job with it. But WTF was that ending? The ACW Entertainment Champion joining SLA? That is ridiculous. If we are going to split the belts two and two, we shouldn’t have champions skipping over, etc. Especially because the ending to this segment seemed out of nowhere and in the end I was left like “…what?” I don’t like the Criminal switch, but the first part of this segment was pretty good. I mean not amazing, but good.
An Announcement Regarding the World Title (Dave Shadow) – Not much to say besides that it was an effective set up. Made the main event seem important (and it is a big main event.) For the most part, the matches don’t seem to matter unless there is build to them. That match being booked alone would not make much of a difference, but it is all in making something of that, and because there is story behind it, the match is now interesting. There isn’t much to say about this segment since there wasn’t much TO this segment. However it was very effective.
Some Scorpion Segment that Isn’t Titled (Scorpion) – Another Scorpion segment, and just like the last ones it was very well written. The character is interesting, and the writing is very good. The language is very impressive, though at times a bit superfluous. Almost as if trying a bit too hard. Though generally it is very elegant, and sets a really nice tone for the segment. At the same time however, I feel that it’s time for something else to happen. I would like to see him do more than just these segments, as they can’t go on forever. This is I think the third one where he didn’t really do anything. But I suppose it’s good to build up a basis for the character, develop him a bit through these (And build up some calcs), and building up some anticipation before doing much with him.
If Dave Shadow can do Badass Interview Segments, so can I (Panther) – Well it was no Dave Shadow interview <_<. It was a very short segment, though whether that was by choice or because Panther rushed it I don’t know (Judging by the fact that it was Panther, it’s probably the latter >_>). But it was pretty good for what it was. I like the Flamingo/Panther feud, though there was no Flamingo this show. The voice changer line was pretty funny as well.
Reminiscing of Memories Past, Pt. 1 (TJ) – Never really loved flashback segments. This one for a flashback segment was ok, but not overly great. It was alright. I don’t like putting lyrics in segments. I feel it only works to the people who wrote the segment and put them in in the first place. Usually I just skip over the lyrics, as especially if you don’t know the song it’s pointless. But anyways it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t really my kind of segment, and wasn’t a particularly amazing segment of its type.
Some Buddy Ghee Segment That Isn’t Titled (Buddy Ghee) – His slang was kinda funny…but…was this implying that ACW is a small promotion? I’ve always seen it that in ACW’s universe, ACW IS the top promotion. That’s why I don’t like when people mention things like the WWE. But even that did exist, ACW still wouldn’t be a “small fed.” Not sure if this is a new guy completely or some guy that’s been here before, or fedded before, but either way, it was an ok debut promo. I shall not judge yet.
You (Rena) – Rena always writes great dialogue, therefore segments from her utilizing much of it are always good. But I really don’t like the Kurt character, and the fooling her thing was kind of annoying (Though I think it was sort of supposed to be.) It also seemed to go on a little bit long for some reason. The main reason this segment wasn’t great with me was because of the Kurt character who I didn’t like.
Some Criminal Segment That Isn’t Titled (Criminal) – A pretty decent heel promo. I’ve made my complaints about Criminal’s character. But this was one of his better segments. I have said before that while he has a long way to go, he IS getting better over time, and I repeat that here. I do want to reiterate that there is a long way to go, but perhaps this Entertainment Title reign will be good for him. Was Criminal heel before? I seem to remember him being face for a bit, so this is much much better for him now that he is full heel because the character as a face did not work at all.
Bottoms Up (Frankie Siano) – The ending of this was funny, even if the Siano character is a bit over the top. I don’t really remember his past run as Siano, only that he HAD one. So I don’t know how much the character is the same or different. Honestly, I don’t like Siano. I’ve always thought Hughes was an impressive writer and that his segments as Jonny Hughes were often amazing. While Hughes has never been consistent with his runs, I have said before (And Senator can be my witness) that I’ve always thought Hughes was great. And I don’t know if he really works well as this character. I don’t see why he just isn’t Jonny Hughes. But whatever. If anything can be said about Siano it’s that he does indeed fit well with SLA.
Consequences (Danny Mainer) – Nice segment from Mainer, though obviously Maddox did not edit this, and seems to not be writing anymore from what comes later in the show. That’s sad, as the character had potential, but Taylor again cannot commit to a run <_<. Anyways I thought the concept of Mainer trying to get Maddox to go with him to Las Vegas was pretty stupid, but it kinda worked. I wonder whether that was an honest proposal though or whether Mainer will get some revenge or something. I guess he seemed genuine enough. Mainer did a good job, but I do have one complaint with him and that’s that I still can’t figure out what this new Mainer is all about, as he is completely different from how he was before. I just don’t get his character. Perhaps I need to see more of it.
Surprise (Rena) – Seems that Kurt is going to become a recurring character. I don’t like him. Still this segment was better than the first one. Why? I’m not quite sure. It just was to me for some reason. More comments to come later, as I have read the show already and know Rena has a third one.
Go, Go Team GWF (Michael Smart, CP, Shadow) – I love group segments. Dave and CP always have good interaction. Michael Smart was pretty good as well, at first seeming to be the voice of peace, saying they can’t argue…and then saying that because of this he should be the leader. That was good. Then of course the predictable tension between the team. Good segment building up the main event a bit. I like all the people wanting Dave Shadow’s title.
Bye (TK/Maddox) – XD at segment title. Brilliant. Assuming it was a reference to Taylor’s last exit. So seems Maddox is done. Sad. Ah well. TK ended the Maddox character in the best way possible. Throwing him out a window. I thought this was nice, since Maddox left it was good to have TK deal with him. As Maddox did leave TK without a guy now. I dunno. More comments on TK coming later.
Discovery (Rena) – One reason I didn’t want to say much about the first two of her segments were because at first glance they seem sort of pointless. I surely would have brought that up had I done this the normal way of reading at the same time as feedbacking. This show I read through first though, and in this segment the seemingly pointless first two Rena segments reveal themselves as very important indeed, and this was an absolutely great segment. I still don’t like the Kurt character, but I do like this segment, as it sets up for what is surely going to be a very interesting story. Rena’s role in SLA is great because of this storyline with Hawthorne, and the whole “What side is she really on” thing. It creates intrigue, and she is developing it at a great pace, by throwing this twist in the road. Now Hawthorne has a bit of a spy on Rena. I dunno. This story is going along great, and I really liked this. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
Senator Made Aiden Joseph, Who Will He Turn You Into Chris? (CP/TK) – The continuation of the CP/TK storyline as TK continues to try to turn CP against Senator. I laughed at the reference to Starkweather. I agree with TK in this storyline. CP’s character has been just plain weird, post-Senator. The way he acts just doesn’t seem right, based on his background. The way he talks with his big words etc. I dunno, he seems too elegant. So I agree with TK. But this segment was very good as well, with TK trying to convince back the old “Chris Phenomenal” and telling him to turn on Shadow in the tag match. I kinda hope he does, because the new Chris Phenomenal makes no sense, and his character has just gotten strange.
And that main event for Ragnarok sounds AWESOME. If all six guys write at their best this feud could be amazing. Will they? I sure hope so.
This show was extremely short, and a lot of people who had returned did not write for this match. Whatever happened to Dan, and to Train. Where was Flamingo, and Red. And how about Jefferson? It’s hard for me to complain when I didn’t write either, I’m just hoping these returns aren’t fading out! I think though, that it’s possible it was just a bad week for most. And that that will get better. Ragnarok has potential, and has an amazing main event. Wow. Shadow couldn’t have had a harder defense by any means.
MVP’s of the show? I hate to say it but it was the SLA peeps. Both TK and Rena are doing a great job. The rest of SLA has not been pulling their weight, from Maddox and Badger who just left, which was sad as both had potential to do good things with their characters, and Train who came back but hasn’t promoed, etc. I hope Hughes is more reliable. But TK seems to be filling in for a lot of the missing people on his team. Rena has been doing a great job with her part of the angle as well. (I hate when people have different gender characters…do you say his or her? Same with Yoko! I will go with her as I said Rena, which is the character name, that is a woman.)
Anyways, hopefully this next show (which is in like an hour <_<) will be a better effort. But there are some good parts, and so I will just count this one out as a randomly bad week. And hopefully we quickly rebound.
