It's Sunday night. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? THIS IS THE DAY ARBITRARILY CHOSEN FOR....
Freeman Feedback
Sure we had an impressive show with our first Warfare back, but is the ACW train losing steam, or will we continue to be awesome? WE SHALL SEE.
All That Remains (Maddox) – Nothing like sitting on a rooftop at night for an emo character. <_<. Taylor…I have a question. Were you drunk while writing this? That’s mine and Senator’s theory <_<. I dunno…with gems like “after that guy blindsided me for freakin' reason” and “On Warfare I continue down the path of which I have forsaken down.” and “I guess believing that I would either be walking away after forever or at least day was a bit naïve” (and BTW I still have no idea what you were trying to say there…at all), it was kinda weird. There were a lot more random missing words and awkward sentences. But whatever, either way, I still want to see how Maddox’s character is going to progress as I assume there’s development coming. The character is definitely pretty unique, and interesting in a way. So I think good things could come of it. I think the way he talks besides the random typos is kind of awkward though. The more formal-ish speech works occasionally but I feel like it’s a bit over-the-top here, such as when he says things like “This makes me have to consider ___” That is all I have to say for now.
Backstage #2 (Badger) – Where’s backstage #1? And it seems Garland is doing the whole anti-ACW thing he did last-run…I don’t think it makes much sense as while out of character we write short matches for the Warfare shows, usually it is because they are summaries that do not encompass every action taken by the actual competitors, meaning that on the shows for the most part the matches would be longer then they would seem from the summaries. Meaning that the short matches complaint in-character doesn’t really make sense. Besides that though, it was a pretty nice promo though I’d like to see Badger get involved with somebody in some sort of feud.
Old Friends, New Coworkers, Pt. 1 (TJ) – I agree with Panther in the fact I don’t like when people refer to other feds, as I have no idea what they are talking about, like that whole Frank Washington thing at the end. Then again, I can see why two people who had history in another fed would want to bring it up. But, that’s not really that important. It was a pretty good segment, and I don’t really have much to say about it, though I would have liked some mention of the whole Dave Shadow stable thing since that’s a pretty important deal, though I guess that’ll come later in the night.
Declined (Rena) – The time is 13:37…lololol. Anyways, I really liked this, as it sets up a conflict between Rena and the new manager guy, which can be interesting. I guess the whole ringleader thing is over but that’s alright. I am wondering whether or not Rena will get involved with the TK SLA storyline or whether there was no real significance to that segment last week besides to get Rena back in ACW. Either way it’s a good thing. Will this be a full return though? I hope so.
Fitsy and Kalb are at it again! CP and Senator – Did Senator just…laugh? WTF!! Ive never seen that before. Ladies and gentlemen you are witnessing a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. Anyways though, I really really liked that segment. Last week the capitalists weren’t that good but this week they were hilarious again, and the whole computer part was great. And Senator totally should have just pushed the green button. The fake BK London thing is good mostly because it’s not another midget, but an actor. Much better. But anyways, I hope this ends with the real BK London taking the imposter’s place and completely destroying Chris Phenomenal. That’d be awesome. But yeah, very good segment, and the fake BK London thing makes me excited to see the payoff, but whether that’s because it was an effective angle or just because of the prospect of seeing somebody beat up Chris Phenomenal is anybody’s guess.
Crime and Punishment (Trent Wheeler) – There’s our Entertainment Champion! With a segment title that MUST have been done before. I’m not sure I like Ryan Stark because his character doesn’t seem to fit the whole gang leader thing, if that’s what he was from what I remember, and the story with him and Trent is weird because I seem to remember at first that they didn’t like each other, and now they apparently do, but maybe that’s me forgetting things. The segment itself, besides that, was fine. Perhaps it could have said more about Trent’s feelings on winning the title, I dunno.
Prove Your Worth…Again (VorteX) – It’s kind of weird that Hawthorne is first written by VorteX. I feel like there should have been a segment earlier from AK or Senator maybe having Hawthorne doing some speech, just to set the stage as him moving in as the new manager, and also to set the basis for how to write the guy. The letter was extensive and gave information on his personality, but I would have liked some basis for how he’s written. VorteX wrote him one way and is that the right way? I don’t know. I felt like maybe VorteX took him too far over the edge as far as being a bit overly hostile. But as for the segment, I laughed at Hawthorne’s line about saying they had to find VorteX a name. Actually, you know what, I really liked this, and thought the interaction between the two was very good. I said VorteX had to impress if he wanted a world title shot, and I think that this was better than his past segments, and really there wasn’t much he could do better, so I liked it a lot. The dialogue was good, and I dunno…I liked it. Good job so far VorteX.
Sold (Rena) – Didn’t like it as much as the other one, as I felt it could have been a bit more interesting with the previous buildup seeming to be leading to big things, but all the same it was still good. Rena really does have a great knack for dialogue. Is Rena now going to try to get out of that contract or what? I hope there is more coming up later.
A Miraculous Return to a Savage Land (Flamingo) – I again, don’t usually like the crazy type character, and didn’t like the fork part so much, but Flamingo is so great, as I said last week, he can make it work. His character is legit creepy, and it’s great. I laughed at Kevin’s “That was a great story” line. That was awesome. And I like the whole Mickey Flamingo going to the office to stop Adrian from coming back. I hope this storyline continues and is drawn out a bit, as if I were Mickey Flamingo I’d be afraid what’s going to happen when Adrian gets to him. As it seems to me like Adrian wouldn’t be too happy. But yeah, great segment, once again, and just as last week I truly look forward to where this is going. I remember when Flamingo in chat said he only had one segment because he couldn’t give it away all at once, and I think that’s a good idea, because I truly anticipate what’s going to happen next and get excited when I see Flamingo wrote the next segment. Though I DO hope this one continues tonight with Mickey and Hawthorne.
Give Me Your Kings, Let me Squeeze Them in Your Hands (Rena, TK) – Oh man, the Rena/TK combo is frickin deadly. I hope they stay together, as they can be quite the force. I really liked the duo and really liked the feeling that something was going to go down soon, and something big. I still am worried about the SLA storyline, but at the same time slightly intrigued, as it could be good if it’s not like…the actual SLA again. But yeah the Rena/TK combo so far worked really well.
Don’t You Know Who I am? (Mr. Red) – Wait, how is Red wrestling if he’s not employed? I guess free agents can wrestle on the shows. Well, whatever, it was pretty good. I like Red’s new attitude. It’s nice to have him back, but there isn’t much else to say about this one.
Thiago Arrives (Senator) – I love Thiago Gracie and the armbar. The character is hilarious from the armbar to the horrible English. I dunno, I just really like the character and think that Senator needs to post in character as him from the Thiago Gracie account more often. I look forward to seeing more armbars in the future. Very funny segment.
Meet Mr. Gray (VorteX) – WTF was that? <_< I am extremely confused. I mean the writing was good…but…WTF was that? I hope something later on explains some more into what I just witnessed and why…
Origin Saga Chapter 2/After the Fall (Badger) – Decent segment going into the past to show when Badger decided to return to ACW. For some reason I didn’t love it that much. I can’t tell you why since I have no idea <_<.
Pre-match Showdown (CP and Maddox) – Pretty good. I again think that the Maddox character is pretty interesting, because as I said before it is a bit of a different character. I feel though that I’ve said everything at the moment I have to say about Maddox
Airing a Grievance (Jefferson/Smart/Gracie) – Gah, there’s the Trance Armstrong reference again <_<. This was a really nice interview which said a lot of good things. I like the anger that Jefferson showed throughout, and I can tell that while Jefferson may have been busy in the past few months, he is on his game now. Or if he is busy, then he’s on his game regardless, because this was a really strong segment. For an interview promo it was a pretty interesting one and didn’t come off as pointless. I wonder if Smart/Jefferson will continue or if it was a one-off thing. It’d be an interesting feud thing. Also XD at another armbar from Gracie. I love Gracie. I also liked the implication that this random armbar was certainly going to make Jefferson even madder. I cant wait to see what Jefferson is going to do tonight, to let his rage out.
Old Friends, New Coworkers, Pt. 2 (TJ/Shadow) – Better than the first one, as I’ve been waiting for some interaction from the new stable. It still seems a bit pointless, as like I said, I don’t think a face stable really works. It could, but I mean, in this case it is kind of weird because they aren’t really fighting FOR anything. And is Frank Washington a real person? Did he write his lines or did TJ? I cant tell…but whatever. If TJ and Frank Washington’s past is important I would hope that TJ briefs us a bit so we aren’t totally lost. Anyways, though, another one of those not much to say about this one promos. Sorry TJ.
Added Bonus (Dave/CP) – Not sure I like Shadow/CP and their serious feud going to random comedic bickering, but whatever, I suppose they couldn’t keep the heat up forever, and at least their text color is nice and Christmasy. Well, anyways, while I don’t necessarily like the fact that they WERE merely bickering in comedic fashion, it was pretty funny, so judged on just what it was it was good, but I’m not sure that I love the choice to make it that way. But I suppose we can’t dwell on the feud forever, so I guess it’s ok to let it take less of a serious turn.
Corruption (CP/TK) – I love mind games, and this was a great segment with TK planting seeds of doubt in the head of Chris Phenomenal. It’s true a huge amount of people have turned on the Senator, and that’s part of what makes this storyline great. I also like the fact that TK seems to be doing this to take down Senator, which is cool. I thought it did a good job of showing that despite CP’s words, perhaps what TK said may have resonated with him, and had I been in Chris Phenomenal’s shoes it would certainly have gotten me thinking. There are many ways this story could go, and I’m sure that whatever path it takes it will not disappoint, and I look forward to seeing it advance.
Champion’s Meeting (Red/Trent) – WTF is with the Jonny Spade thing. Anyways, this one wasn’t that great for me, although on the positive side I do like Red’s attitude as I stated earlier, and I loved the closing lines, which I thought were awesome. But I feel like more could have been done with the interaction. Still it’s nice to hype the match up for later, since it makes it seem more important, and not like such a random defense.
Some Much Needed Encouragement (Shadow/Maddox) – Hey my name is in there! Who wrote that..Taylor? Was that you? <_< So here is that spark that Maddox seems to have been lacking. I knew it was coming. But I still want to see Maddox in the future just absolutely freak out and like…brutalize somebody. Anyways, I like the idea of Shadow encouraging these new guys to step up. His character is really good, and as I said, he’s a great choice for champ right now. Anyways there’s my weekly Shadow marking, but yeah. Pretty nice segment.
Post Match Stuff (VorteX/Shadow) – Interesting. I think it’s good that VorteX keeps getting the upperhand, as he needs it for credibility’s sake.
There's just some things that never change (Pilko, TK, Maddox) – I’m honestly not sure WTF just happened. That was weird. But, at the same time the Sir, yes Sir was funny. Pilko should now consider TK his general and follow him around all the time. Or not <_<. But that’d be funny.
DJ, Play That Song (Jefferson) – I like this crazy, angry Jefferson. I didn’t like him the last time he was crazy-ish with the BJ Jefferson stuff, but this feels much better. It is more believable I suppose? I dunno, at the end of 2009 it struck me as over the top, but this has much more of a natural feel to it, and also with his title loss, much more of a purpose for him to be so angry and hence crazy. He isn’t just angry for the sake of it. So yes, I have been really enjoying the Jack Jefferson stuff so far this year in a way I hadn’t in the past.
Meanwhile in the Medical Room (Shadow/Williams/TJ/VorteX) – I LOVE THE SHADOW AND WILLIAMS TEXT COMBO SO MUCH. It’s so weird but I do and always have. Stupid TJ interfering with the win text color combo. Very nice segment though! The announcing of the title match seemed to come at a good time. Not too early not too late, and seemed to have been built up effectively. Its kind of weird how the announcement of the title match in this segment felt good, but it did. Something about the pacing was right, I dunno. Otherwise I’m starting to get the Shadow stable a bit more. Though I guess I don’t see why Williams and TJ would want to suddenly join this team. It makes more sense for Williams but why TJ? Unless they had history in the past in another fed, I dunno. It just seems random since they aren’t really getting anything out of it and have nothing to gain. That might be why it’s kind of weird to me.
Rattling the Sabers (TK/Badger) – BADGER YOU TRAITOR. Anyways, I agree with whoever it was that said why are the ACW fans cheering for SLA? Since that’s basically cheering against ACW. I think a small group of fans that were vocally cheering for SLA, like whoever that other guy was said, would be ok, as they would be the rebels who like the whole rebellious nature of the SLA movement or whatever, but the crowd in general? That’s saying the whole ACW crowd is cheering AGAINST ACW. If SLA was a rebel heel type movement with a newly heel Thunderkiss it’d be much better but as a face movement? I dunno, I don’t like it.
Say Something (Red/Spade) – I liked this one better than the past Red ones, though…SERIOUSLY WTF IS WITH THE SPADE THING. It’s kinda random since it doesn’t seem very in character for Spade. But we’ll see where it leads.
Time at the Bar (Jefferson) – While it started to edge back towards the over-the-top territory for me, it was still good, and I will accept it because Jefferson is especially angry recently. Had this just been a normal segment that wasn’t shortly after his title loss I wouldn’t have liked it, but it is within the window where I shall accept it. Though when I first read it I thought he actually stabbed the guy with the poolstick and was like WTF <_<
Loose Ends (Flamingo) – What’s with the Panther thing? Did he attack Panther and I just don’t remember it? Either way, I still don’t love the fork thing, but still I wonder where the Panther thing was going. It’s Flamingo so of course it was good. Poor Mickey Flamingo…Man though, how could ANYBODY stop Flamingo now? This character is unstoppable!
Old Friends, New Coworkers? Pt. 3 (TJ) – So are TJ’s NPC’s going to get ACW jobs? I dunno. Anyways, there isn’t much to say about this segment as it was mostly setup for next week, but fine setup.
Defection (TK/Mainer) – While on the one hand, it was a good promo, and it’s nice to have Danny Mainer back, it’s still a bit weird to have him pro-ACW after his recent OOC comments. If he wants to come back though all the power to him. So yeah. If this will turn into an ACW vs SLA storyline I guess it isn’t too bad. I after all loved the OCW vs ACW storyline. This is one of those “I’ll judge it when I see more” things.
Its like HOV vs Nas (CP and BK) – YES I GOT MY WISH! IT’S THE REEEEEAL BK LONDON! Anyways it was a nice CP promo, but I am too hyped to see if CHRIS PHENOMENAL IS GOING TO GET BEAT UP! So I suppose this promo did a good job in making me feel that way. And then there was the impromptu match which had a good ending. CP vs BK is shaping up to be awesome if it continues, but it seems like CP is involved in too many storylines. All the same, this one is good.
So that is the show, and what show it was! I can honestly say it was the best one we’ve had in a long long time. ACW is in good good shape. This was a great great show and I had mostly good things to say which proves that it was awesome. So nice job to everybody who contributed! I can’t wait to see how CP’s storylines with BK and TK will develop, as well as the SLA thing, and the Jefferson storyline, as well as continuing to see how people adjust to Hawthorne. Oh and more of Flamingo. So there is a lot to be excited about right now!
