Segment: I Still Hear Voices in my Head
Credit: Dave Shadow, AK and The Attacker
The scene opens with Dave Shadow pacing through the abandoned locker rooms, long since out of use after the major renovations on the ACW Arena during the World Tour of ‘07. As Dave kicks in the door of each one to no avail becomes more and more concerned.
Charlotte King: Dave, what if she’s not here? There’s…
Dave: She's here. I know it. I can... feel her.
As Dave kicks down another door, Ricardo laughs as Helena looks on almost disapprovingly, even at a young age taking a page out of their parents’ books.
Charlotte King: Dave, maybe we ought to try somewhere else, you said it yourself earlier that the arena is massive. I know a few places we should look from my times around here. Why don’t we look around the old haunt of Yoko. I know there’s some creepy stuff that went on there and it might be attractive for your culprit.
Dave turns and looks at Charlotte, holding the twins in her arms as Dave stares at Helena, the reflection of AK present in her face.
Dave: Alright. Guess you're right.
With that Dave Shadow and Charlotte begin their trek back through the arena, headed deeper into the normally unexplored depths of the ACW stronghold.

: HELP ME!
(wearily): I can’t help you if you don’t tell me who you are.
The voice of Alicia Laureano penetrates the near- darkness.
Alicia’s head is throbbing, and it’s not just from the effects of the knock-out formula. She can see very little, even though the tiny desk lamp is right next to her. Just out of her visual range, a figure is drifting to and fro, uncertain in his or her step. She thinks she can see a hood of some sort over their head, but that’s about all she can make out.
Her heart is racing; she has no idea what has happened to her children, and she wants to shout at her abductor, but that’s the last thing she can afford to do. He or she is doing enough of that for both of them, and it’s really wearing Alicia down. The distorted tone she heard on the CDs is even stranger heard in person.
: You’re the only one who can do this for me. I sought you out to make sure this worked out. This has nothing to do with Shadow. That’s just an unhappy coincidence.
She has no idea whether to believe this statement. She breathes in and out slowly, as deeply as she can considering she’s bound to the tatty chair she’s seated in by some sort of electrical wire. If this was pre-arranged, the perpetrator is not an expert by any means.
Alicia Laureano: Alright, if you won’t tell me who you are and you keep using that infernal voice masking device, at least tell me what’s the problem.
The figure continues its stilted pacing.
: They’re in my head, all night, every night, it’s torture, it’s like my heart is being ripped out of my chest. I hear her voice, like the bleating of the lambs and Clarisse. It never seems to leave me. I just want to blow my brains out, I want it to stop. I need your help!
Stay calm. This person sounds seriously upset, which could turn dangerous at any moment. Stay calm.
Alicia Laureano: Then tell me who you are. Tell me everything, and maybe I can help you.
: It won’t let me. It’s controlling me, it’s like there’s two. It’s like I’m a different being altogether for a moment. Blank spots in my memory, like I’ve been concussed. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast only that at that point I was very angry, very, very angry.
Possession? She can’t rule it out... but it’s different from any case she’s encountered, albeit her experience is extremely limited.
Alicia Laureano: I understand... but you’re not helpless, do you realise that? You said “it” won’t let you but IT doesn’t matter. You’re the only one that can control you, you’re the only one that can make your actions happen.
: But everything I’ve done hasn’t been me, I didn’t mean to attack Dave, I never wanted it to get this far, I just wanted him to suffer like I’d suffered at his hands. I wanted to be The Vigilante, I wanted to stand up for everyone that Dave Shadow cost, I wanted to make amends.
Alicia momentarily flashes back in her head to her youngest days in the ring. That attitude almost got her killed, but she knows how intoxicating it can be.
Alicia Laureano: I understand that, I know you’re a good person at heart, and if you just tell me who you are I can help you out. I’ve been where you are to some extent, I know how much you’re suffering and we can work this out together, I just need you to tell me who you are.
: I can’t, I’ve already told you that I can’t tell you who I am...
Alicia Laureano: Then what if I guess? What if I ask who you are and you don’t have to tell me - just respond, or better yet, just let me see your face. You said you wanted to be the Vigilante, now to an old-timer like me that suggests Scott Andrews but he never had anything…
: I’m not Scott Andrews, I’m far greater than he could ever be. Riding the coattails of NBK to the ACW Tag Team titles and two forgettable reigns as the ACW Light Heavyweight Champion. I’m saddened that you even considered him to be me.
Alicia Laureano: Well, you’re not giving me a hell of a lot to work with, mate. You have got to give me something more...
She exhales sharply; as she does so, she manages to extract something from her back pocket. It feels like her house key.
There is a sharp edge to the back of the chair; with patience and a bit of pressure in the right places, there might just be a way for her to turn this situation to her advantage...
---
Dave Shadow is shown looking around a wide open expanse that shows signs of abuse. Blood stained concrete, shackles on the wall, whips and other paraphernalia associated with the BDSM culture on a table as Charlotte looks on at a pink vibrator lying on the table.
Charlotte King: Leather and Lace III, I guess that one would be. I thought she would have destroyed everything after she left but it appears as if that’s not the case. Then again, there’s no knowing who else may have been here in the meantime...
Dave looks around and sees nothing of interest, nothing that even resembles a possible hiding location for Alicia Laureano.
Dave: Charlotte, why the hell did you bring me here? There’s nowhere he could have possibly hidden her. This is wide open, and just a little bit creepy.
Charlotte King: Patience Dave, you have to know just where to look. Move this box for me.
Dave walks over beside Charlotte and grabs hold of a large packing box and with a grunt moves it off the pile and gasps as the frame of a door can be seen. Quickly Dave goes about removing everything, the consequences of violating the inner sanctums of the ACW arena be damned, as finally there is a path cleared and Dave looks at the door and then at Charlotte who nods back at him. Dave approaches the door handle and graps it and begins to turn it, surprisingly the door unlocked. As Dave quickly turns the handle he assumes a fighting stance as the door swings open.
Dave: Alicia? Alicia?
But there is nothing there, the room appears to have been cleaned of anything useful as Dave Shadow just stares blankly, Charlotte stepping into the room letting a low whistle that causes Ricardo to turn look up at Charlotte curiously.
Charlotte King: Wow, I wouldn’t have thought she would have done anything to the place. I mean, no one was really supposed to know about this, I just happened to…
Dave: We have to go. NOW. We haven’t got any time for listening to tales.
Charlotte King: ...stumble upon this. There’s a number of hidden rooms in the arena though. I’m just trying to think who would know about them?
Dave: What about Dan White?
Charlotte King: Dan may know every pub in every town we've ever visited, but I doubt he'd know enough about the inner workings of this arena to stage such a daring kidnap.
Dave: It has to be someone with ties to the old ACW. Maybe…
Charlotte King: Who are you thinking, Dave?
Dave: I don’t know, this is a big reach but back before Chance Emmerson signed with ACW, I tried to sign him to the GWF. I don’t know what kind of grudge he’d be holding but it’s worth a try? Did he have a stronghold?
Charlotte King: I really don’t know, Chance was very reclusive, he wasn’t even around for all that long, and Umeko had almost total control over him. I think maybe if we look at the east wing we might find something.
Dave: Worth a shot.
With that, Dave and Charlotte begin again, this time towards the eastern end of the arena.
---
Elsewhere, buried secrets are slowly being unearthed...
: I just get so angry sometimes that it consumes me, it over powers me and I just explode. Dave Shadow, bragging about how good he was, about his International Title victory, insulting you. I couldn’t stand for it. I saw him there, his back to me and it was too inviting, it was too good, it was if it was meant to be. Everything he did to me back in the GWF, everything he’s done to the wrestling world that gave me my life I had to take it so I brained him, I nearly killed him and I wanted to, I wanted to end him right there.
Alicia Laureano: And what about Jay, why did you attack him?
: Because I wasn’t able to finish off Dave Shadow, because I saw that even though he was a little timid he was still as arrogant as ever, in fact the beating may have made him more aloof, he figured he’d be untouchable because he’d survived the ordeal. If I couldn’t get to him physical, I had to do it emotionally, I had to attack the one he loved the most. It also felt good, he reminded me of everyone I didn’t want to be growing up, the self entrapped man who fails to see the larger world facing him.
Alicia Laureano: OK, now I’m really confused.
: And so am I, that’s why I’m asking your help. I get so angry, it’s always been a problem for me but never to this extent... it’s like I’ve become possessed.
Alicia strains to see into the darkness, trying to sense if there’s anything in that statement.
Alicia Laureano: So you’re telling me that you’re haunted by a... demon, for want of a better word?
: I guess you could call that, but it’s only been since she was taken from me, twice. I was able to put it away eventually but it has to stop, I’m…I’m afraid of what I’ve done. I mean, your babies, who knows what’s happening with them right now, who knows what could be happening... I’m so sorry, I just, I need you.
Alicia Laureano: So you’re telling me that you’re possessed by a demon that causes you to be very angry? Wrath-like?
Which one of the Seven would that be? Definitely not the Smouldering Count. The Lord of the Flies? Possibly... but name-dropping’s just too risky. She shakes her head. More subtlety is called for.
: I don’t know, I just, help me Alicia, please.
Alicia Laureano: If you want me to help you, I need you to step out of the shadows. I know it’s difficult but, as weird as this may seem, you’re not the first person I’ve seen in this situation. I can help you, really... but only if I can see your face. Please?
There is a long pause....
---
Dave, Dave where the hell have you been?
The familiar voice of Chairman Jonathan Gingerdude fills the hallway as Ricardo giggles in Charlottes arm, as Dave Shadow walks past the chairman.
Chairman Gingerdude: Dave, stop. Your match was supposed to start five minutes ago, I’ve pushed it to the end of the card already and now I’m running out of air…
Dave stops for a moment but, judged on his reaction, it’s fairly easy to see the effect that this entire ordeal is having on him as he barks at Gingerdude.
Dave: WHAT!?!
Gingerdude is taken aback by the tone of Dave Shadow, usually mild mannered if sometimes a little aloof but never downright enraged. The chairman finally realizes the gurgling noise coming from the arms of Charlotte and looks down at little Helena.
Chairman Gingerdude: What are you doing with Helena and Riccardo? Ali…
Dave : She's missing. We're trying to find her. Something has...happened.
The chairman is taken aback by the words of Dave Shadow.
Chairman Gingerdude: What do you mean…happened?
Dave: If I knew, we wouldn’t be here right now. All I know is she’s missing and I've got this really nasty feeling this has something to do with the attacks.
The chairman pauses for a moment as Dave Shadow begins to break away again.
Chairman Gingerdude: Where the hell are you going?
Dave: Where do you think I’m going? I’ve got to help Alicia.
Chairman Gingerdude: No, you’re heading down to the ring for your match.
Dave: I’m not wrestling with her in possible danger.
Chairman Gingerdude: If you don’t go down there, you’re going to have to forfeit your title.
Dave: Gingerdude.....this is Alicia we're talking about.
Chairman Gingerdude: And that’s what this wants you to say Dave. This is all a ploy. You know it, and I know it. You bust in there and he’s ready for you and he’s going to brain you again. How does that help Alicia?…
---
: Please. Anything, I’ll do anything just to make it stop, please, I’m desperate.
Alicia Laureano: Then just show me your face. Please, I want to help you. I’ve already forgiven you for your actions. I know this has to be tough…
: Tough? Tough? You don’t know tough. You’re happily married with two beautiful kids. You don’t know what it’s like to have the one you love taken from you not once…
Alicia’s temper is fraying, fast.
Alicia Laureano: You have no idea what I have suffered in my time to reach this point, NONE. Do you hear me?
Chill, love. We’re almost there.
Alicia Laureano: Just believe me when I tell you that I want to help you, and that I will. You just have to take the first step-

An oof can be heard as Alicia is hit in the face by something. Even in the darkness she can make out the faint lines of a banner.
Alicia Laureano: Paragon…security? Where…

Chairman Gingerdude: And then he’s got you, you’ve forfeited your International Title and he just lets Alicia go.
Dave: I don't like this either, Ginger, but this is the closest I've been to him. He's so close now.
Chairman Gingerdude: Dave, listen to me. I know you care about her. I do as well but you dropping everything for her is not going to help the situation. Now I’m going to buy you two more minutes by sending us to commercial and you get your gear on quick and go out there and wrestle Freeman. In the meanwhile I’ll have every security member in the building on the lookout for Alicia, actively trying to find her. Then after the match you can join in the search.
Dave: Not enough, I want his blood, for everything…
Chairman Gingerdude: Go, channel that anger into fighting Freeman and then from there when we find the guy I’ll give you a match against him if he’s under contract or sign him to a contract so he can face you if he’s not. Just go, please.
Dave turns and looks at the chairman before Charlotte comes up and places her hand on Dave’s shoulder and lifts up the two twins as Ricardo leans up against Dave for a brief pause, wiping his drool-covered mouth on the shoulder of Dave’s shirt.
Dave: Alright, but I get first crack at him.
Chairman Gingerdude: That’s fine, just hurry.
With that Dave turns and looks at the twin babies of Alicia Laureano before sprinting down the hall in the direction of the locker room.
