Right out of the gate, the two begin to circle the ring aggressively. After a brief display of lateral footwork, the two go straight into a mutually explosive lockup. Dave manages to utilize his superior size and converts to a side headlock almost straightaway.
Alicia is caught for a second, but only a second. In a flash, she manages to disengage one Shadow’s arms from her neck, and catch the other one. Pulling a deft little back-step, Laureano quickly converts the caught arm into standing hammerlock, maneuvering behind Dave.
Dave, like Alicia, is caught in the counter for only a second. Realizing what is happening almost as it occurs, the International Champion pulls a back-step of his own right after Alicia, reversing the pressure of the hammerlock, and applying the same move to Alicia herself!
The lightning pace does not stop here, however, as Alicia refuses to lose the exchange. Feeling herself being caught in the reversal, Alicia steps off to the side, straightening the arm that was caught in the hammerlock. She then goes into the traditional Lucha front flip, followed by a second front flip used to counter arm-locks.
The move is one that the fans are used to, but this display of agility makes them cheer nonetheless as Alicia hits it perfectly, landing somewhat to the side of Dave. This puts her in natural position to dive down for a chop block at Dave’s injured legs, which she sets up to do…
…but hesitates! The second of consideration is enough for Dave Shadow to evade and step out of the way and create some space between himself and his opponent.
The lightning fast exchange is over…and the fans clap enthusiastically for having witnessed such pin-point ring work.
McNally: Wow…it looks like these two intend to leave it all on the mat tonight! A blistering speed to start off this International Title match! And you have to believe that that’s what Dave wants. The longer this match goes on, the more his injury may show. Alicia Laureano had a chance to exploit his seemingly weakened legs right then and here…but she held off. She doesn’t want the match to go that way.
Edison: Oh, now she shows pity? Where was that same concern two and a half weeks ago, when she was laying Dave out?
McNally: Oh, will you stop?
The competitors resume the stares that they began in the beginning of the match. Dave’s expression is one of shame and stifled rage. He does not enjoy being pitied by his opponents, even with a significant injury. Laureano’s is one of steely imploring.
She is aware that her hesitance does not sit well with Shadow, but appears to have already justified the decision in her mind.
After a few intense seconds of staring, Laureano slowly rises up from her almost-chop-block stance and the two begin to circle again, this time at a slightly slower pace. The two competitors measure each other carefully, trying to pick the optimum moment. In a moment of apparent equilibrium, they charge forth and lock up in the center once again.
Shadow, utilizing the extra fifty pounds of weight, snaps down Alicia’s arms forcefully and delivers a stiff knife edge chop to her breasts. Laureano shrinks back in a moment of pain. Realizing that he has stumbled upon a womanly weakness, Dave is quick to exploit his advantage. Three more knife edge chops follow in rapid succession, each one landing at various latitudes around Laureano’s chest.
As Alicia doubles slightly, Dave sends a lighting quick snap kick to her stomach, which he follows up by hooking Laureano’s arms and delivering a sudden butterfly suplex while Alicia bends from the abdominal strike. Alicia’s lighter weight is quite apparent, as the suplex is delivered in a very “floating” fashion. What is also apparent is the pain in Dave’s leg after he delivers the snap kick…a brief limp follows…but he shrugs it off and gets back into the offensive.
Dave Shadow wastes almost no time as Alicia gets the ground. Sprawling out himself, he slides his forearm under Laureano’s chin and across her throat, blatantly pressing down on her windpipe.
The referee attempts to pull him off of the illegal maneuver, but Shadow seems to be in no hurry to do so. The referee, however insists. He begins the ten count…and it is only when he is quite close to disqualifying the International Champion, that Dave finally releases the choke.
McNally: And you have to believe that Dave Shadow is as ruthless a competitor as ever. Alicia Laureano may have avoided trying to attack Dave’s legs out of respect, but I don’t think he’ll be returning favors like that.
Edison: That’s Laureano’s own fault. Dave Shadow is first and foremost a competitor. He takes advantage of every weakness. For her to even offer him an out like that is an insult.
Laureano is still on the mat, with Shadow in the dominant position. Having been denied his choking maneuver, Dave sits Alicia up and applies a textbook rear chinlock. Alicia claws at Dave’s fingers, but the upper body strength imbalance is too great. As he pulls back, Shadow also places his knee squarely between Laureano’s shoulder blades, increasing the pressure on her spine.
The addition of the knee clearly makes the chin-lock much more brutal. Shadow shows no compunction about pulling it back as far as he can. Alicia’s smaller and smaller body bends at an increasingly awkward angle. Suddenly, Dave breaks up the chinlock, and pulls a sort of “sitting switch”; he shoots his arm across Laureano’s chest and lays her out flat. As she falls back, Dave applies a frontal neck crank, his body laying off to Laureano’s right side.
McNally: Some educated wrestling going on by Dave Shadow. He realized that his kicks will be ineffective after that snap kick, so now he’s focusing on maneuvers that pit his upper body strength and superior weight against Alicia’s.
Edison: In-ring strategy is important. But with all of the freebies she’s giving out, I don’t think Laureano is quite aware of that.
Dave pulls up viciously on the neck crank, as Alicia’s smaller frame is trapped under Shadow’s shoulder. Attempting to put himself in better position for the neck crank, Shadow attempts to swing his right leg over Alicia, and put himself into mount. Alicia, however, gets her knee up just in time to prevent the maneuver.
Shadow pulls up again, hoping to soften up his opponent and distract her somewhat from his intentions.
After some intense pressure, Shadow decides to try again. He swings his right leg high into the air…but again, Laureano’s knee just barely gets the proper height in order to stop him from taking mount. Once more, Shadow must resign himself to laying on Laureano’s perimeter and keeping his neck crank as tight as possible. Once more, Dave increases the pressure, his forearms getting somewhat tired from the constant exertion. The referee kneels down to check Laureano’s status, but with a wave of her hands, Alicia signals that she is not about to tap any time soon.
One last time, Dave decides to try and gain position. This time, instead of swinging his leg over, he more or less crashes his knee right down the center. Laureano gets her leg up in time to stop him, but Shadow throws his full weight into it, and in the end the sheer size of his leg is the deciding factor. His kneecap barrels through and Shadow takes full mount, with the neck crank still intact….however, once again, the maneuver is not without a wince. Dave’s face reveals that the use of his leg in such an aggressive manner did, in fact, hurt.
McNally: Shadow now, in dominating position, sitting on Alicia with his full body weight. He’s done well to get this far, but he’ll have to do two things in order to make sure his match goes his way. First, he’ll have to keep from using his legs unless he absolutely needs to. Second, he’ll need to look for a quick way to finish before Alicia uncorks any of her high risk maneuvers.
Edison: You need to stop harping on the negative. Dave Shadow is in firm control of this match.

Dave Shadow, now in full mount, pulls up on the neck crank harder than before, but Alicia refuses to tap out. Her epic contests have given her far too much endurance, and the strength in Dave’s forearms, while formidable, is still not at one hundred percent. Realizing this, Dave opts for a change in strategy.
Rather than pulling up on Laureano’s neck and thus lifting her shoulders off the mat in the process, Dave instead pushes her down, keeping his forearms wrapped as tightly as possible. What results is a pin on a technicality...a sort of “smother pin.”
Laureano’s shoulders are both touching the mat. The referee gets down to count.
ONE---
Almost immediately, Laureano uses her legs to kick off the mat and buck Dave Shadow higher in the mount, lifting her shoulders in the process. Dave, however, still has his arms wrapped around the back of her neck.
Realizing that she will be able to buck out of any potential smother-pin attempt with the use of her legs, Dave once again presses Laureano’s upper body to the floor. This time, however, his legs wiggle around to try and hook Alicia’s. Dave’s leg reflexes are slower than normal, but while he is unable to maneuver them like he usually does, the size game once again becomes a factor.
He is able to use his much larger legs to slide around the outside of Laureano’s and get his hooks in. With her legs trapped, he once again presses down. Laureano’s shoulders touch the mat.
ONE—
No dice. As the referee starts counting down, Laureano starts fidgeting every which way, slides her legs free, and pushes Dave higher in the mount. Shadow’s legs are still not strong enough to keep Laureano’s wiry limbs at bay. But Dave is persistent. He still stubbornly refuses to release the neck crank, and keeps up the pincer-like pressure…
…but all of a sudden, the tables turn! Laureano kicks off the mat with her legs yet again…but this time it is sudden, and without provocation. The sheer surprise of the move sends Shadow tipping forward, allowing Laureano to slip out the backdoor!
With a demonic speed, Laureano scrambles to her feet before Shadow can get himself completely turned around to face her. Alicia grabs one of Dave’s legs and yanks it upwards, attempting to put in her patented ankle lock, the Catch-22! Dave is scrambling on both hands and one foot! Alicia tries to sit down into it, but Shadow is frantically trying to keep his balance...
McNally: Uh oh, look out here!
Edison: Look out Dave; she’s got the leg…!
…but again, Alicia hesitates! Without any apparent provocation she drops his leg, as Dave scrambles to freedom, a safe distance away! As he regains his composure, and finally turns around, the look on his face is one of pure hatred. He is embarrassed at being let go, when Alicia clearly had an opportunity to strike at his weak point…twice. Alicia gives him the same stare as earlier…but this time, Dave isn’t having it. He walks forcefully over to Alicia, and slaps her across the face! The crowd “OOOHS” as the gauntlet has clearly been thrown down.
McNally: Uh oh! Dave Shadow is not happy! If there is one word to describe him, it is definitely proud…and he refuses to be patronized in this match.
Edison: Go, Dave! Slap that hussy again!
Alicia’s face snaps back, her eyes wild with anger. Dave points down at his legs, and shouts something to the effect of,”Come on! Try me! I dare you!” Shadow slaps his own leg, touting its strength…before delivering a shin kick to the inside of Alicia’s leg!
The loud THWACKK reverberates from the extremely stiff attack. Laureano, not to be outdone, looks at the spot where she was just struck, and cracks a determined grin before returning the shin strike to Shadow’s corresponding leg! This strike is even stiffer than the previous one! The audience OOOOHs and cheers in relish at the two wrestlers exchanging blows! Dave smiles…Alicia smiles back…and all of a sudden, it’s on! The two fire shin kicks back and forth, taking turns! Each one makes a sickening noise as it connects to the inner calf!
McNally: It’s a battle of wills! It’s a battle of wills! Dave Shadow is trying to prove that he is not weak!
Edison: No, Dave! Remember the strategy! Don’t fall for it! It’s a trick!
But pride has already taken over. Back and forth the two go, exchanging sickening shin strikes. Red welts begin to form on the proximities where the kicks are connecting…both David’s and Alicia’s right leg begin to show signs of swelling. But Dave refuses to back down!
THWACK (Crowd: OOOOOOHHH)
THWACK (Crowd: OOOOOHHHH)
THWACK! (Crowd: OOOOHHHHH)
The kicks flow, and flow…slowing down somewhat as pain begins to overtake the two competitors. Each additional strike starts bringing a noticeable wince, as their calf muscles become tender and bruised.
Finally, the kicks are slowing to a crawl. The audience cheers on wildly, hoping to see who gets the upper hand in this contest.
Undaunted, Alicia loads her hip and unleashes on final shot to Dave’s exhausted calf. Dave cringes, trying to stay up…but finally gives out! His left leg finally buckles! Alicia has won…and wastes no time in reaping her reward! As Dave bends down to grasp his leg in pain, she hits the ropes with blistering speed!
Coming back at incredible velocity, Alicia thunders forward and nails an elegant dropkick right to Dave’ chest! Dave reflexively barrels back upward, limping on his bruised left leg, but Alicia answers by scrambling to her feet and hitting him with another dropkick. One more time, on sheer instinct alone, Dave hobbles to his feet. Alicia hustles back up and, displaying her raw athleticism, uses Dave’s shoulders to help boost herself into midair and connect with a graceful hurricanrana! Shadow is thrown several feet across the ring, and finally lays flat on his back, unable to rise immediately.
Alicia gets up from the high flying maneuver, and lifts her hand triumphantly towards the audience, signaling that from now on, she’ll be going all out. Tumultuous cheers from the crowd!
McNally: Alicia Laureano! She’s on fire! And now, we have ourselves a match!
Edison: I hate you. I really, really do. How can you cheer at a time like his? Dave is hurt!

The woman formerly known as “Atomic” is brimming with confidence, and is ready to go all out! As Dave lays on the ground, Alicia lays into his swelling left foot with repeated stomps, no longer showing even the slightest bit of hesitation. Dave spasms on the mat, as the stomps come down with both power and precision.
Satisfied with the damage she has inflicted, Alicia picks up the beleaguered Dave Shadow by his bleach blonde locks. Lifting him unceremoniously to his feet, Laureano holds on tightly to his hair before leaping up and sticking the soles of her feet squarely into Dave’s stomach, while flinging his hair behind her in a unique variation of the monkey flip! Shadow does a perfect arc over Alicia’s head with his hair still in her clutches, landing in extreme pain.
…and Alicia is not finished yet! With the hair still in her clutches, she peels Dave from the floor! The referee tries to break up the not-so-legal hair grip, but before he can do so, Laureano is already underway with another innovated monkey flip! Dave screams in pain as his scalp is yanked.
Alicia, still holding on to the matted blonde hair, gets up to hit a third monkey flip..but the referee finally gets his words in edgewise and demands that she release the hair. Laureano, forced with being disqualified, turns to the crowd and gives them a mischievous smile. She does indeed let go of the hair…but instead, she wraps her arm underneath Shadow’s chin, and runs full speed towards the nearest turnbuckle!
Alicia scales the top rope with Dave still in tow, leaps from the post and turns her body in mid air, dragging Dave along with her and slamming his chin down onto the mat with the Fox Flip!. Her acrobatic display thrilling the crowd, Laureano hustles off of her back and turns Dave Shadow over into the cover!
ONE
TWO
Kickout!
Dave Shadow will not relinquish his title that easily. Alicia knows she must do more, and responds in kind. She rises and goes to Shadow’s legs, turning him onto his belly. Laureano lifts him up by his ankle, and locks in the Catch-22 once more, this time planting her foot firmly into the small of his back as the move was finally meant to do! There will be no second chances this time, as Alicia turns the ankle counter-clockwise and Dave pounds his fist on the mat in agony!
McNally: The Catch-22! She’s got it locked in this time, and it doesn’t look like she has any intention of letting him go!
Edison: I can’t watch! Use the nails, Dave!
The pain in Dave Shadow’s legs is unbearable…but he didn’t walk out of the hospital for nothing. Steeling his will, Dave slowly begins to make the painful journey down to the ropes. The crowd holds its breath, as they know that every second Dave spends in the hold may be one second closer to Alicia Laureano’s ultimate victory.
Dave uses every ounce of finger strength he has, as the tiny Alicia wrenches the ankle with every bit of strength she can muster up…but it isn’t enough! After spending what seemed like an eternity trapped in the Catch-22, Dave finally grabs a hold of the bottom rope with both hands.
The referee comes to do his job and break up the hold…but before Alicia can let go, Dave capitalizes! Holding the rope with both hands, Dave lifts his body slightly off the mat and executes a forward shoulder roll! Alicia, still holding on to the ankle with all of her strength, cannot release fast enough! As Shadow rolls over the shoulder, Alicia goes sliding through the ring ropes and out to the canvas below, her head connecting hard with the floor.
McNally: And that’s the Dave Shadow factor. You can never count the clever Irishman out. He’s always searching, always waiting for that one opportunity to present itself. He can turn the tide of the match with one move.
Edison: He not only “can”, he just did! It doesn’t matter how injured Dave is…the one weapon you can’t take away is his mind! He always finds a way to win.
With Alicia Laureano temporarily incapacitated, Dave rubs his left leg vigorously to try and get back the feeling in it. The appendage is now visibly swollen, and turning a slight shade of dark blue. Shadow shrimps around on his hip for a while, rubbing his leg and trying to find the energy to stand up, before finally using the ropes to get back to his feet.
Seeing Alicia down and out, he knows that only drastic measures will save his title and prevent his body from giving out on him. Dave slides below the bottom rope, to join Alicia on the outside.
The self-proclaimed “savior” of ACW lifts Alicia up by her neck. As Laureano is put back into standing position, it is clear that she is still quite dazed.
To ensure her obedience, Dave yanks her by the back of the head and hurls her headfirst into the guardrail. Alicia collapses in front of the concerned-looking fans, who try to cheer her back to her feet to no avail. As she lays there in a heap, Dave continues with his attack. Once again, he stands up Laureano and plants a firm grip on the back of her head, before putting all of his force into an irish whip. Alicia is heaved forward and straight into the steel ring steps. The top layer flies off from the power of the impact.
Still limping forward, Dave smiles at the effect of his handiwork, as Alicia is clearly stunned. The match has slowed down to a crawl…which can only favor the weight advantage of Dave Shadow.
Stalking his opponent, Dave finally limps over to the wreckage of the steps, where Laureano lays. Methodically, he clears her away from the debris he has caused. Picking her up by the bottom of the chin, Shadow places a couple of well-placed right hands straight to Alicia’s temple. The punches go completely unanswered. Then, all of a sudden, Dave gets a sly look on his face as he notices the turnbuckle…
Setting Alicia back up, he bends her forward and traps her head between his legs, in power-bomb position. Several in the crowd already know what is to come. In a brutish display of his superior power, Dave Shadow easily flips Alicia over and onto his shoulders, cocked and ready to be power-bombed…and then proceeds to throw her back-first against the steel post! A grisly noise emanates from the post as Alicia’s spine connects with it!
McNally: Oh my god! Oh my god!! He broke her in half! He broke her in half! Alicia Laureano was just hurled like a Frisbee into the turnbuckle!
Edison: What a maneuver!! Did you see that? She bounced off of it like a tennis ball!!
The absolutely horrid maneuver has left Alicia laying on the canvas, doubled over and not moving. Dave Shadow is tired, but wears a satisfied smirk on his face. Leaving Alicia to her fate, he limps back to the apron and slides himself back into the ring, before getting up painfully and walking over to the referee.
Shadow grabs him by the shoulder, and points tellingly at the body laying outside, demanding that the referee start the ten count.
The official seems hesitant at first, but Alicia offers no visibly sign that she has enough to get back into the ring. Somewhat apprehensively, the referee begins the ominous countdown.
ONE

THREE
McNally: My god, he’s actually going to count her out! Remember, Dave Shadow is still the defending champion despite his prolonged absence. Even if he wins by disqualification, it would be enough to walk out of here with the belt!
Edison: Genius idea, Dave. Why waste all of that energy in the middle of the ring, when you can just as easily wait for your opponent to be counted out? That way, you can conserve your strength. The poor guy is injured, after all!

The fans are booing loudly, while Dave Shadow promptly ignores them and attempts to catch his breath while rubbing his sore left leg. Alicia Laureano’s only movements are slight, spastic twitches. The referee continues the count.
FOUR
FIVE
SIX
Some slight stirring from Alicia now. She manages to roll over onto her stomach, and elevate herself slightly with her hands. The power-bomb has put her rather close to the ring apron. Shadow looks on nervously, as he nudges the referee to stop counting so slowly and do his job. Alicia pushes her way up ever so slowly….
SEVEN
EIGHT
Alicia has both hands on the ring apron. Dave Shadow is nearly strangling the referee, as he implores him to hurry up and count her out. The fans have started a stomp, hoping to give Alicia Laureano the energy she needs to persevere and somehow get back into the ring.
NINE…
Alicia’s body is just barely hanging on the apron. Dave looks as though he’s about to jump out of his skin. The referee looks imploringly for an excuse to stop counting, but finds none. The crowd holds their breath anxiously, their encouraging stomps reaching a fever pitch.
TE---
…and Laureano slides back into the ring!!! Somehow, with a burst of energy, Alicia Laureano manages to pull herself up by the bootstraps and get back inside! The referee breaks the count, and seems none too upset about having to do so. Dave Shadow is absolutely livid. He was a hair’s breath away from retaining the title.
McNally: She’s back in! Alicia Laureano has made it back into the ring! She’s fighting for her family! She’s fighting for her twins!
Edison: Sometimes the things you say are so sweet, they give me a toothache. Alicia Laureano barely made it back into this matchup.
Dave is visibly upset, but knows he can’t waste too much time. He resumes the assault, walking over to the still downed Laureano and unloading a series of rights and lefts. Despite the clear power in the punches, Alicia still somehow manages to slowly make it back up under the weight of the strikes. Finally, despite still looking a bit shaky, she has made it up to full height.
Dave Shadow throws one more right, before grabbing her by the arm and hurling her with an Irish whip…but it’s reversed! Alicia holds on to his arm and stops her own momentum! Instead, she sidesteps around Dave and chucks him hammer-throw style into the turnbuckle; her patented Spin the Bottle!
Dave connects hard with the turnbuckle, and is just about to lamely stumble out…but Laureano is way ahead of him! Just as he is about to walk away, she is already charging at him full speed. Flipping forwards, her foot connects straight to his face with the Liger Kick! The crowd explodes as the stiff strike finds it’s mark! Dave Shadow collapses back into the corner, essentially out on his feet! Alicia is on fire again, as she unleashes a vigorous series of kicks to Dave’s stomach. Laureano absolutely tees off as the crowd counts the number of kicks!
Once the count has reached ten, Laureano raises her hand to the crowd in a gesture of triumph, before pointing to the intersecting turnbuckle and signaling for some sort of maneuver…
McNally: Uh oh…what’s she gonna do here…
Alicia goes to the intersecting corner, and carefully climbs up to the top rope, making sure that her balance is absolutely perfect. When she is sure of herself…Alicia Laureano turns to the corner where Dave Shadow is still standing….and proceeds to run across the ropes! It is not a mere slow-walk in the fashion of the Undertaker. She’s literally broken out into a quick trot across the ring ropes! When she gets close enough to Dave, the woman formerly known as “Atomic” leaps off of the ropes in a kind of side-angled front flip, and connects with an unbelievable slackline Dragonrana! Laureano flips him over and reaches back to grab his legs for the pin!
McNally: I can’t believe it! I can’t believe it!!!! Slackline Dragonrana just took Dave Shadow over! I’ve never seen anything like that!
Edison: What??? That’s impossible! No!!!
The referee is amazed, but not amazed enough to put off a prompt three count! The fans are on their feet from the absolutely incredible series of moves! Everyone is ready for Alicia to win another title! The referee’s hand hits the mat!

Dave Shadow refuses to give up the fight! His desire to win the title has somehow willed him to kick out of the blistering attack! Even Alicia looks a bit stunned at the turn of events…but already knows what she is going to do next.
Knowing that her opponent is one the ropes, Laureano gets to her feet and loads her hip…stalking Dave Shadow…seemingly waiting for him to get up. Her back foot looks ominous, as she anxiously awaits the moment when Shadow exposes himself!
McNally:I think she’s going for it! She’s setting up the EMP! If this connects, we’ll have a new International Champion! Dave Shadow just kicked out of that amazing series…but can he kick out of this move?
Dave stands up…seemingly oblivious of the looming danger. Alicia sets up to unload the maneuver. Dave slowly turns around…Laureano lets the kick fly…
…and almost hits the referee??
In the last second, Dave becomes aware of what is transpiring and pulls the official into the way of the kick! Laureano’s reflexes are sufficient enough to pull back the strike…but now Dave is holding the referee in between himself and Laureano! As the two play their game of peekabo with the official, who is none too happy about being held in place, Dave sneakily reaches around the striped shirt man, kneels down….and connects with a low blow!
….but it has no effect??! Dave’s look of sneaky triumph suddenly turns into a horrific realization! Laureano has nothing to low blow! The audience lets out a chuckle, as the referee is finally freed.
From a kneeling position, Dave looks up at Laureano, who smiles at him, as if to say, “That’s right. I have no balls.” Then, Alicia quickly leaps into an enziguri, catching the kneeling Dave Shadow in the face with a horrendous-sounding strike!
McNally: I think Dave…umm…Dave might have made a strategic miscalculation there.
Edison: It was a reflex! Laureano’s not exactly a looker, so it’s an honest mistake.
With Dave on the ground, Alicia again looks to finish the match! Turning Dave onto his belly, she reaches for both of his legs, crosses them together, and slings them across her shoulders, bending Dave almost in half! The Perception Shift is locked in! Dave is in the center of the ring!
McNally: She’s got it! She’s got the Perception Shift locked in on the injured legs of Dave Shadow! Is it over? Is it over???
Edison: Noooo! This is sadistic! I can’t watch!
Dave looks desperately for an out, but geography is against him. He is smack dab in the center of the ring. He attempts to crawl, but Alicia is essentially sitting on his back, not allowing him too much freedom of movement. All the while, the hold is cinched in tighter and tighter. Dave’s bruised left leg is absolutely agonizing pain.
The referee comes down to check if Dave wants to tap. Shadow resists, but he doesn’t seem to have any way to counter! The audience knows that, being so far away from the ropes, it is only a matter of time before the inevitable happens, and Shadow taps out!
…but no! Dave finds a way! His much larger frame means that even when he is bent over, his upper body is long enough to reach Alicia Laureano’s legs! Dave reaches forward and, with all of the power his upper body can muster, wraps his arms around Alicia’s thigh! Shadow pulls the thigh inwards, relieving some of the pressure on the move! It’s a tug of war, with the prize being Dave Shadow’s legs. Alicia leans back, but Dave is holding onto her leg for dear life, trying to pull himself away from the hold.
Laureano finds herself unable to get the kind of leverage she needs because of Dave Shadow’s desperation grip, but the hold is still locked in, and Dave’s legs are still under intense pressure. The clash of wills goes on in earnest, as Alicia pulls back with all of her body weight and Dave clings for his survival…
…and counters! With the last ounce of strength he has, Dave pulls in Alicia’s leg with explosive movement! Alicia falls onto her back while still holding Dave’s legs…which pulls Dave Shadow on top of her, still holding HER leg, for an impromptu cover!

THR---
Alicia escapes! Alicia escapes! The surprise maneuver gets Dave out of the Perception Shift, but the match continues! The crowd is on their feet in admiration of the match, and of Dave Shadow’s perseverance in trying to win!
McNally: I don’t believe! I don’t believe it! Dave Shadow has just escaped the Perception Shift! He’s just escaped it! He wants to keep his belt at all costs…but has the damage been done? His legs and lower back spent a long time in that submission…has Alicia done enough to put him away?
Edison: Not a chance! That’s the single-mindedness of Dave Shadow! If he was resourceful enough to escape that, then he’s resourceful enough to walk out of here as the International Champion!
Both wrestlers lay on their backs, visibly exhausted. There is pandemonium in the crowd as the two competitors slowly try and make their way back up. Laureano, being the one to have inflicted the submission, is first to her feet, with Dave Shadow dazedly behind. Alicia lets a few slow, tired jabs fly at Dave’s face.
Shadow recoils at the depleted, but still effective strikes. Walking Dave over to the side of the ring, she positions him against the ropes, and proceeds to release a series of kicks onto David. Knowing that his legs are at a critical point, she lets a snap kick fly straight at Shadow’s knee. He doubles over in pain. Straightening him back up, Laureano hits Dave with a sizzling chop to the chest for good measure, before hitting him with another kick to the leg.
In slow, firm control of this match, Laureano again reaches back, alternating her chops with her shin kicks, as her hand connects with Shadow’s pectorals. The methodical striking game appears to be ha---

The fans barely see it. The announcers barely see it. The referee barely sees it himself. In the blink of an eye Dave Shadow goes from completely docile to airborne, using the last of his energy to leap up into the air and connect with a totally improbably Blink! Laureano is caught totally off guard by the maneuver, as is everyone the arena. It seems to come from absolutely nowhere…but Dave cannot capitalize immediately! Both wrestlers are once again down on the ground. Alicia is laying totally prone on her back, with Dave not far away. She’s ready to be covered…but it appears as though the vertical leap necessary for the Blink has taken too much out of Dave. McNally: He just hit it! He just hit it! I don’t believe it, but the Blink has come out of nowhere! He needs to make a cover…but he’s just too weak! Edison: You have the match won, Dave! Cover her! Cover her! Come on! Just one last effort! Dave slowly makes his way over, knowing very well that he may never get another chance at this. Lamely, he collapses into the cover, draping his arm around Laureano’s chest. ONE TWO THRE----- Kickout!!!! A bomb goes off in the arena, as the fans scream like Banshees! Alicia Laureano has just kicked out of the Blink! Dave Shadow took just a second too long in making the cover! The match continues! Edison: NOOOOOOO! NOOOOOO! That’s impossible! That was a slow count! Dave is the winner! McNally: Fat chance! Alicia Laureano has just kicked out of the Blink! And we are going into overtime! Yet again, both wrestlers find themselves on their backs, looking up at the light fixtures. Both are weary. Both are wounded. Both take their sweet time in getting back up to their feet. A noticeable look of desperation is on Dave Shadow’s face, as he has no idea what he could possibly attempt next. After what seems like an eternity, both competitors somehow make it back up to their feet, and begin to exchange strikes Alicia throws a tired right hand that Dave eats…but Shadow answers back with a right hand of his own. Both of them tee off on each other, knowing that any shift in momentum may be the decisive one. Punch after punch is traded, with Alicia sneaking in the occasional kick to the shin. Just as it seems like one particular strike is going to bowl one of them over…they balance themselves out and return the hit. Finally, it appears as though Alicia gets the upper hand. Her kicks and punches begin to rain unanswered, as Shadow absorbs the damage. Suddenly, Laureano throws a boot to the stomach and, with Dave bent over, hooks both of his arms. Leaping up as high as she can, Alicia slams all of her weight down onto his neck with the Falling Star! Alicia’s Pedigree lays Dave out perfectly…and Laureano decides to end the match by going for broke. She makes a spinning motion with her and points toward the top rope, as she proceeds onto the turnbuckle. The crowd roars in anticipation. They already know what’s coming! McNally: She’s calling for the Ground Zero! She’s calling for that 450 splash! This could end it! Edison: I don’t think my heart can take any more disappointment. With Dave planted in ideal position from the Falling Star, Alicia steadies herself. She knows what it would mean if this maneuver connects. She knows what it would mean to have one more title reign under her cap. The crowd is ready…the world is ready…the referee prepares to announce the inevitable by getting into position. Alicia winds up… ….and then collapses onto the turnbuckle!? Dave Shadow, using his good right leg, has capitalized! He shoves the referee into the ropes with the bottom of his foot, making Alicia nearly impale herself on the turnbuckle!! She sits there, in pain, but still in the superior position. Dave Shadow is still laying on the ground. …or is he?? It all happens in what seems like a millisecond. Dave Shadow goes from aimlessly floundering around on his back, to lethargically getting up to his feet….to breaking out in one last full sprint. His leg is ready to break off, but he knows there is only one possible way for him to win. Shifting into his last gear, he demands one last service of his leg. Breaking into a run, Dave JUMPS onto the turnbuckle and wraps his arm around Alicia’s neck, before falling back. The crowd can’t believe it. In fact, no one can. Despite all of his injures…despite his leg…Dave Shadow has just connected with a Top Rope Blink. He falls into the cover. ONE McNally: Holy hell! What a maneuver!! That was incredible?? Was it enough? Was it enough? TWO Edison: YES! YES! YES! THREE!!!!!!! Dingx3!!!

As the referee calls for the bell, a shell-shocked Phillip Jones has the presence of mind to make the announcement. Jones: Here is your winner….AAAAAND STILL THE ACW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION…..DAAAAAAAAAAAAVEEEE SHAAAAADOOOOOWW!!! The referee attempts to raise Dave’s hand in victory, but it falls limply to the floor. Getting the belt from ringside, the official tries to clench Dave’s fingers around the belt….but can’t pull it off. Both wrestlers are laying on the ground in exhaustion. McNally: I don’t believe it! Against all odds, Dave Shadow found a way to beat Alicia Laureano! He pushed that referee into the ropes and then hit an unprecedented top rope Blink! Look at his leg…it’s swelled to the size of a watermelon! Indeed, a close-up of the camera shows hideous bruising on his left leg. With Dave unable to move, we see his brother, who helped him to the ring five days ago, run down the ring apron. Sliding in, he picks up Dave along with the International title belt, and helps him out of the ring As they get into the ring apron and walk up the ramp, Dave Shadow, his arm sluing across his brother’s shoulder dazedly asks…”…did I win?” McNally: And what a contest that was. Alicia Laureano still in the ring…but by god that was one of the greatest International Title matches I’ve ever seen! But this ride is not over! We still have the main event to reckon with! It’s going to be Jason Freeman taking on “The Senator” Steve Phillips for the biggest belt of them all! But now…hear this! -Fade-

Make It Known – Part II August 1st, 2009 Backstage ACW Arena
(Credit: Kaoru) A road paved with eyes. Everyone was staring. Looking with their wide, dog-like expressions like they had just been smacked across the nose with a newspaper and could not figure out why. No matter how much closer the parking lot became, how deep you wandered backstage, there was always at least one of two of them. Wrestlers, roadies, all looking with their soupy expressions of fear and indignation. It was a strange feeling, being stared at like that. One the one hand, you wanted to answer the question that their pleading irises were asking…as if their eyes were discontented mouths that somehow needed to be quieted. As if their gaze was too loud and wouldn’t let you think. On the other hand, you wanted to lash out at them. What business was it of theirs anyway? Hadn’t they been alive long enough to see plenty of worse things? What gave them the right to look at anyone like that? The backstage area coiled and wound like a snake…finding the parking lot was impossible, even if you did follow the green arrows painted on the walls. Despite your best efforts, you still found yourself walking around in suspiciously familiar places where the odd girder stood faithfully by the wall, holding up something you couldn’t see. The occasional black curtain lingered, like the bottom of a revealing dress, flapping at the edges and just barely allowing you glimpses at what was behind. Where the hell was the parking lot? “Hey, what a second!Suddenly, an uneven clacking getting closer and closer, like a horse running at a broken trot or two stones being tapped against each other. Someone was running in heels, and doing a fairly quick job of it. The pace was impressive. Stop walking so fast! My name is Charlotte King! I need to interview you! Walking heavily, her eyes must have finally caught something making its way past the girders and into the parking garage. She broke into a very noisy half-sprint, her hand reaching out to clap itself around a shoulder she could barely reach. “Hey, what a second! Your actions against Dan White earlier tonight we---whoa!She had held such a death grip on the shoulder, that a quick turn of the frame was enough to send her stumbling forward and almost plant a kiss on the garage floor. The brief twist was enough to reveal the presence of a camera man, whose on pace had been camouflaged by the noise of her high-heeled shoes. But still, she was persistent. Alright fine, DON’T give me an interview! See if I care! Never mind that I have orders from on high to make you conduct it! I’ll just tell management that you demand special treatment from other wrestlers. See what they say! The words shook like a drum beat. Suddenly, Uncle’s words came flooding back... the voice of doubt and the devil whispering into your ear from thousands of miles away, and no angel speaking through another receiver. Except the receiver was back in the hotel room somewhere. The interview would have to be done. It was the best way to hide in plain sight. …alright. She looked up. It was impossible to tell whether the look on her face was one of triumph, or sheer awe that she had actually gotten something so much bigger to stop and turn around. Either way, she rushed to close the distance, again making that abominable noise with her shoes. The camera man slipped around unnoticed, trying to work out what would be the best angle to shoot from in terms of lighting. Phew…see how much easier things are when you cooperate? Now then…George, do we have the shot? She had turned to the cameraman, who was standing far off to the side and was busy fidgeting with some of the buttons on the side of his camera. He answered without looking up, only half-paying attention. Huh? Oh yeah…yeah we’ve got a decent angle right here. How’s my hair? It looks like a million dollars, Charlotte. Again, he answered without even looking up. But she was just fishing for complements anyway. Her hair, which looked to be painstaking dyed and chemically straightened, had a fresh hairspray smell that suggested preparation in advance. She wasn’t the type to just pat it down on the spot. After some extended and mysterious pushing of buttons, the cameraman finally gave her a thumbs up as the go-ahead sign, not once tilting his head to actually see what he was shooting, which is probably why he was a cameraman. He preferred seeing everything through a lens. She cleared her throat in an exaggerated manner, gave one last tug to her jacket in order to keep it flat, and began in an official tone. A little red light on the camera flickered. Alright, I’m here with Kaoru Hanayama, who just assaulted Dan White and Andrew Starr in the middle of the ring. Kaoru, what was the motivation behind your attack? …I’ve already told you. Her eyes opened a little wider, and she did her best to give a confused look without letting go of the artificial smile on her face. The result was that she looked like a rather frightening marionette, whose puppet-master had fallen asleep and accidentally jerked her neck off to the side, as if to make it seem like she was asking a question. Erm…pardon? The interview only just started I know. But I’ve already explained why I did it in the middle of the ring. If you stopped me from going to my car only to ask me stupid questions, then this interview is over. Shut that thing off. The first time that the cameraman looked up was when the view through the lens was eclipsed by the palm of a large hand. The swift push had knocked the tripod onto its side. It probably gave a nice dramatic and intimidating shot of feet shuffling around. It probably even picked up the clacking sound of Charlotte running and screaming. Hey! Stop, STOP! We weren’t finished yet! Uncle would get what he asked for, and no more. He wanted ruthlessness and theatricality. And real ruthlessness never needed to explain itself more than once. It felt good to get into the car, even with Charlotte scratching violently against the window. If people wanted to know more, it means they already understood the original message. It means they already knew. And they’d know more in due time. -Fade-

This could be the start of a Beautiful Friendship....or not..... By Dave Shadow and Alicia Kitsune As we cut backstage again, we find the cameraman has placed himself in one of the medical rooms, where a doctor is tending to Alicia Laureano. He hands her an ice pack, which she takes gratefully and places on the back of her neck, cringing as the cold pack comes in contact with her skin. The door of the room flies open, as both Alicia and the Doctor swing their heads to see who is coming in. Upon seeing Dave Shadow’s bruised face in the doorway, Alicia turns her head back, closing her eyes in the process; partly from the pain of twisting her head too quickly, partly from having to look at Dave’s ugly mug.
Dave stands staring at her for a few moments, the International Championship gleaming on his shoulders. He is still breathing quite heavily after his encounter with Alicia, still feeling the effects that he knows he will still be feeling in a week. The doctor stares back and forth between the two, nervous and wondering if he should be calling security. As he makes eye contact with Alicia, she nods, telling him it’s ok. He knows the drill by now, working in the ACW medical rooms; he heads out the door, Dave standing aside to let him go. Dave comes in and closes the door slowly behind them. Alicia pushes forward, standing up. Not wanting to show any signs of weakness.Alicia: Not happy with the beating I gave you out there, eh? Dave walks forward, getting closer and closer to Alicia. Though both look ready to fight, it’s obvious both are exhausted and not really in much of a state to go another 12 rounds. Dave drops the tough guy act, sighs loudly and shrugs, much to Alicia’s surprise.
Dave: Listen, I don’t want to keep fighting.Alicia: Pardon? Dave: You heard me. Listen, after what we just went through, neither of us are capable of doing much more tonight. And besides, I’ve come to the conclusion you weren’t the one who attacked me.Alicia takes a moment to look at Dave, deciding whether he’s sincere. When she does, for a brief second her body relaxes, a tiny outward sign of immense inward relief. But she’s still careful not to let her guard down.Alicia: Really? And it took you all this time to work that out? Dave: After I woke up last Monday and after the show, I discovered Jay had taped the shows I missed. I watched them back, and I heard the interview you gave where you said you were innocent. Then when I showed up last week, you looked pleased to see me for a split second, as if there was a chance I might exonerate you. A guilty person would at the least have tried to put on a “game face”. With that, and the match out there tonight, I’ve got no reason to believe it is you.Alicia: Well, Dave, I must say.... Dave: Hang on. Let me finish. I still don’t know who attacked me. I still have no clues. And you’ve got to realise that you had motive and capability. But so did a lot of others. If you say you didn’t attack me.....well, as much as I don’t like you, you’ve never given me a reason to doubt your word.Alicia retains a serious expression, wanting her sincerity to be clear.Alicia: Thank you, Dave. Dave nods and a brief awkward silence passes between the two of them. Finally Dave nods and starts to head for the door. But Alicia has other things on her mind.Alicia: Wait. See, you may believe it’s not me, but you’re very much in the minority. Are you sure you don’t remember a thing about the attack? Dave: Like I said earlier, whoever did it came from behind. I can’t give you a description or anything.Alicia: Well, then, we’ve got to find out who did this to you. Dave: Woah, hang on a second. What do you mean “we”?Alicia folds her arms.Alicia: You were the one who got attacked, but while you were sleeping my name got dragged through the mud. Almost everyone still thinks I could be behind the attack. Whoever injured you did damage to me as well, and I don’t intend to simply let that lie. So, obviously, I want to clear my name. I’m going to help you find whoever did this. Dave: I don’t know. You may not have attacked me, but you still stand for everything I hate in ACW and everything I want to change. It would be highly hypocritical of me to just start working with you...Alicia: Maybe so... but face it, this is the lesser of two evils. You don’t want to find out who attacked you? Dave: Of course I do.Alicia: Good. Then you and I need to start looking at all the suspects. At a list of who would have a reason to attack you. Dave: That could be quite a long list... ¬_¬Alicia: Well, we can start working through it. Together. Unless you’re determined to go it alone... in which case, we’ll simply both waste time and give the real culprit an opportunity to cover their tracks, or worse. You’re back on your feet, and you could be a target again; you might not get away as lightly second time round. So what’s it going to be? Dave and Alicia look at each other again, Alicia raising her eyebrows in an arch. Dave throws her a sceptical and dirty look, before relenting, realising that she might be on to something.
Dave: I guess it couldn’t hurt. I still don’t like you though.Alicia: Believe me Dave, the feeling is mutual. Alicia puts out her hand, looking to shake on their new alliance. Dave looks at the hand, grimaces and turns, opening the door and walking out of the room. Alicia can’t help but let a little smirk spread across her face, as she grabs the ice pack again and applies it to the back of her neck once more. She sits back against the medical bed and looks at the door, as we cut back to the arena....

Match 11: ACW World Heavyweight Title Match “The Senator” Steve Phillips vs. Jason Freeman (Credit: Dan White)
*Ding Ding Ding*
Philip: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and is for the ACW World Heavyweight Championship!
McNally: Oh boy, here we go. This is a match rich with history. You have Senator, the man who has been seen as a corrupt champion, a man who looks edgy, and a man that felt the need to go beyond the rules of the game in order to get what he saw fit. Edison: Yes, but paying off officials, including Makabe, and getting people to do his dirty work didn’t quite go according to plan. As we witnessed, Jason Freeman, the unlikely hero, has stepped up and discovered Senator for the fraud he is. And that’s not left Phillips a happy man at all. McNally: Nope. But that’s the romance aspect of this match. If Freeman can prove to Senator that all those months of being looked down on as a third rate contender and seemingly making up the numbers was all just a delusion, then we could be looking at one of ACW’s greatest upsets.
There’s a huge pop from the crowd, as the World Title graphic appears on screen.
Philip: Coming first to the ring, the ACW World Heavyweight champion. From Chicago, Illinois, weighing at 195 lbs...Senator Steve Phillips!
”Eye of the Tiger” hits and there’s a resounding echo of boos and jeers throughout the arena, as the champion walks through the custom made Alphatron, with the belt wrapped around his waist. He looks confident, cocky, as he walks down the ramp, but he’s also weary of what his opponent may bring, as he ignores the jibes thrown at him verbally by nearby fans. He enters the ring, removes his jacket, and hands his belt over to RAF.
McNally: He looks ready for this match. He looks confident. But then, he’s had many years in the realm of politics. Edison: For all we know, he could be quivering inside.
Philip: And his opponent, the challenger. From Long Island, New York, weighing at 230 lbs...Jason Freeman!
A huge chorus of cheers, as “Ugly” by The Exies hits the PA system, and Jason Freeman walks out, with a huge look of determination on his face. This is the chance he’s felt like he's waited an eternity for, and he certainly doesn’t show any nerves as he walks down the ramp. He too ignores the fans either side of him, but this is more a symbol to his opponent, to his foe, that this match is going to be about much more than just the World title.
McNally: Now there’s a man with something to prove. He wants this win so bad, and that’s not just to win the World title. He wants to be able to show the world that he can truly beat his old mentor. Edison: And he has the world behind him, no matter what the result is.
Freeman calmly walks up the steel steps and enters the ring, as Philip exits, and the referee gets ready to call for the bell.
*Ding Ding Ding*
Senator and Freeman carefully circle the ring; not wanting to give anything away early, both are determined to make sure that their respective game plans are kept under wraps. Both are in a wrestling pose, ready to strike or defend at any moment, both leading with their stronger foot, before they lock arms together, with the crowd reacting positively. There is a minor struggle for control, but the hold is quickly shrugged off, and both men take steps back, but cautious at what tricks their opponent might play. They lock up again, and this time Senator attempts to wrap around Freeman’s legs, getting onto his knees. But Freeman swiftly steps out of the way, jumping around 180 degrees and eyeing the grounded World champion, pointing towards him in a gesture that signifies Freeman gaining a 1-up early on in this bout, and the fans cheer for him. Phillips shakes his head in disgust as he picks himself up, and the duo grapple again. Freeman manages to get up on Senator again, and throws him towards the ropes. He turns, throwing a lariat but the World champion ducks under Freeman. Yet once again, Freeman is thinking ahead, turning around but quick to step backwards, avoiding what was a blind Polish Hammer attempt, and instead of connecting, Senator appears rather foolish.
McNally: Nice dancing there by Freeman! He made the champion look like a fool. Edison: Yeah, you don’t often catch Phillips out like that, but Freeman really looks like he’s done his homework here.
Freeman grabs Phillips quickly, and takes him to his knees with a rear chinlock. As frustrating as it may be as a spectator to witness such holds, it’s vital for somebody in Freeman’s position to take as many chances as he can get in order to wear his opponent down. After a few moments, Senator manages to rile himself up enough, forcing himself back to his knees, and breaking out of the hold with a firm elbow to Freeman’s chest. As Freeman is in a vulnerable state, Senator turns around and plants a low dropkick to the knee. Freeman falls onto all fours, and Phillips takes this as a chance to hit off the ropes, and plant a firm Soccer Kick into the chest area. Freeman flies up and onto his back, much to boos and jeers from the crowd. The Senator could hardly care less, however, as he raises Freeman back to his feet. Wanting to really get revenge for what occurred last Monday night, Phillips wastes no time in dishing out the punishment. He delivers a hard, stiff kick to Freeman’s side, resulting in the former 2-time International champion close to falling over, and when he stays on his feet, has a profound limp.
McNally: Ouch, now that kick looked particularly nasty. I think it could have caught Freeman awkwardly. Edison: Nasty one there, but Phillips isn’t know for going in light on opponents.
Senator quickly follows the kick up with a drop toe hold, and tries to lock in a Crossface variation, but Freeman manages to roll onto the offside, and inadvertently (but to his gain) rolling Senator into a surprise cover:
1...
2...
Kick out by Senator.
McNally: Close first fall of the match there.

There was a brief pop for Freeman’s ability to reverse the hold, but it’s quickly dampened with a firm kick out by the champion. Either way, both men climb to their feet quickly, and go to lock up. But once again, the World champion is taken for a spin, as Freeman ducks under his grabbing hands. With his challenger behind him, Phillips is in the worst possible position, and this is compounded with Freeman taking full advantage of the situation; he grabs Senator by the head, twisting himself and planting him hard to the ground with a DDT. But he’s not done yet. With the crowd fully behind him, Freeman climbs to his feet, holding against the ropes with one hand, and motioning for Senator to get up with the other. The crowd anticipate something big, and they receive it as Freeman runs up, cracking Phillips with a Jumping Bicycle Kick. As Senator falls to his knees, Freeman points to his foot, and there’s an even louder pop from the crowd, who sense what’s about to unfold.
McNally: Oh my...please don’t tell me we’re going to see this already! Edison: Go Freeman! Hit it!
He rushes across the ring, stepping up and planting the SHINING AXE KICK!!! ...Well, he would have done, if it wasn’t for Phillips to grab Freeman in mid air, catching him on his shoulder, and launching him to the ground in a ring-shaking Capture Bomb!!
McNally: WOW!! What a brilliant manoeuvre by the Senator! That was straight out of his own textbook! Edison: Jeez Louise, I think he’s snapped Freeman in two! Christ!
From the crowd reaction, you’d think that a vacuum had sucked up all the atmosphere, as we go from potentially the quickest ACW World Title match of all time to a great reversal, yet from a man that the crowd love to hate. But their hopes aren’t tarnished yet, as Senator is unable to make the pinfall. Instead, he lies on the canvas, as RAF begins to make the count. He doesn’t get far, however, as Senator uses the time only to catch his breath, before rolling towards the ropes and beginning to get to his feet. Freeman stirs as well, as although the Capture Bomb took him by great surprise, it’s only one of very few attacks that Senator has been successful in so far. Regardless, the psychology of the match must surely be with the veteran, as he aids his foe up to his feet, but only to deliver a firm knife edge chop to the chest. Despite the orientation of the pair, it’s enough to garner some “WOOOO”s from the crowd, as Freeman is knocked back to the ropes, with a great big hand print on his chest. Senator then grabs his hand, whipping him to the ropes opposite, and he bounce off them with force, landing straight into a jab right to the face. As he falls to the ground, the World champion looks down on him with disgust, garnering further boos from the ACW fans.
McNally: We all know how much the Senator loathes his opponent right there, but there’s no achievement in showing him disrespect like that. Edison: Especially as Freeman has put up such a good effort so far.
Senator looks around the arena, and shakes his head with sheer disgust. He thinks rather little of this crowd, as he lifts Freeman up. Going behind him, he locks in a Full Nelson hold and attempts to go for the Liberalizer. But Freeman is able to escape out of it, hoisting himself forwards towards the ropes, and springboarding up off the bottom rope, causing Senator to break the hold. As he lands, he knocks the politician with a Jumping Knee Facebuster out of nowhere, and there’s a large cheer as Senator falls to the ground, having been attacked by a move out of nowhere. Freeman smiles as he gets to his feet, surprised even in himself that he was able to counter in such a manner. He gets to the ground, and rolls the champion up:
1...
2...
Kick out by the Senator
McNally: Another near fall, and again Freeman almost has it
There’s a thump to the ground, Freeman clearly frustrated at being unable to keep Senator down for the three. But he knows that unless he can take Phillips to the end of his tether, then he’ll not be walking out of this arena as the World champion. And he gets to his feet, with the crowd cheering him on and chanting his name, and despite a slight limp in his right leg, he knows that the ball is in his court. For the champion, however, it’s a different story. Never before has he come up against an opponent that can outmatch him for counters, and it’s almost beginning to look like the challenger is now the favourite, as Senator gets to his feet, and the duo goes to lock up again.
McNally: This match is more than just a fight. This is for everything that’s happened over the course of the month. The attacks, the ambushes, everything has led to this. Edison: Omega Effect V, eat your heart out! This is as intense as any main event I’ve seen.
Freeman again manages to outwit Senator feigning a punch with his left, and going in with his right. It takes the champion by surprise, but he is rather unfazed by it, and quickly retaliates with an elbow to the jaw, which carries some power. As Freeman is stunned, Senator quickly scans him for any potential injuries, and catches the limp, going in for a shoulder takedown at the thigh. Now normally this kind of move would be purely to bring somebody down, but in Freeman’s case, it warrants a cry of pain, as the previous strike to that area begins to affect him. Phillips quickly rolls off him, and rises to his feet, but only to dart forwards and strike a low knee back into that affected thigh. Freeman lets out another cry, but there’s no remorse from our World champion. He gets up once more, repeating the suffering, again to the thigh. It’s beginning to leave a noticeable mark on the challenger’s leg, with a bruise beginning to form, as Senator makes a quick cover, his first of the match:
1...
2...
Kick out by Freeman
McNally: Senator got his first cover of the match there, but he was unable to put Freeman away! Edison: Yes, but have you seen Freeman’s leg? It’s becoming an unhealthy colour. He ought to get that seen to after the match.

With a half-hearted attempt, Phillips holds three fingers up at RAF, but ACW’s veteran referee responds with nothing more than a raise of the eyebrows. Senator shrugs it off, lifting himself onto his feet, and awaiting Freeman. The crowd are still hot for the challenger, but with each passing moment, and particularly with the most recent assault on his thigh, it appears that his once good chance of winning this match is fading. He manages to lift himself up onto one leg, but as he tries to put weight on his right foot, the pain shoots through his leg, buckling, and he slips back down. Phillips lets out a sinister laugh, spawning a mix of jeers for him, and cries of encouragement for Freeman. But Senator is happy to watch his opponent suffer, watching as he attempts a second effort in standing, which consequences in the same fate. Another smirk, followed by the shake of the head follows from the veteran, who now decides to take the matter into his own hands. He grabs Freeman’s hand, hoisting him up, and whipping him at the ropes. Freeman takes a few steps, before stumbling down, falling to one knee.
McNally: Freeman is in a lot of pain there, and it’s looking increasingly weary on whether or not he’ll be able to continue. Edison: Oh, he’ll continue, Max. But whether he’ll win remains to be seen.
Senator quickly rushes after Freeman, eager to end this match pretty swiftly, yet despite his injury, Freeman is able to quickly turn, and lifting the champion up onto his shoulders, planting him with the Inverted Fireman’s Carry Pancake! There’s a pop from the crowd and commentary alike, as Phillips falls flat on his face, and Freeman falls into the ropes. He tries to pull himself up, but as he does so, with one hand he repeatedly lifts his hand in the air, attempting to get the crowd in his favour. The response is phenomenal, with a roar that would be reminiscent of a thousand lionesses calling for its young after a hearty catch. He pulls himself up, almost stumbling to one foot, but he manages to walk on the injured thigh, albeit with some difficulty. He makes his way over to Phillips, grabbing him by the hand, and pulling him into the centre of the ring. He then manages to catapult off the ropes, launching himself up into the air, and landing with a huge Double Knee to the face. The rest of Senator’s body springs up as the knees connect with his jaw, and Freeman rolls off, holding his leg again, but confident that he’s gotten himself into a decent position now in this match.
McNally: Great bit of play by Freeman! He might be hurt, but he’s giving it his all. Edison: World title shots don’t grow on trees. He may have to wait a lifetime before he gets another shot. So he’s not letting Senator go away lightly.
He picks himself up again, and now lifts Senator up. The champion is rather groggy, and is susceptible to a rather simplistic Irish Whip, followed up with a firm single punch to the jaw, causing Senator to stumble back to the ropes, only avoiding a fall to the ground by clutching back onto the ropes. Freeman rushes forwards, but Phillips manages to get out the way, and turns, to deliver a huge knife edge to the chest. The crowd WOOOOO once again, as the Senator gets into his groove.
*CHOP*
Crowd: WOOOOO!!
*CHOP*
Crowd: WOOOOO!!
*CHOP*
Crowd: WOOOOO!!
McNally: Reminiscence of Omega Effect V, there! And Jake Steele can relate to such abuse!
However, Freeman isn’t prepared to allow his chest to become a chopping block, and he manages to duck the fourth attempt, hoisting Senator over the ropes with his shoulder. Phillips lands on the ring apron, but is unable to comprehend quite what happened and where he is, and Freeman quickly follows up with a firm shoulder block to the back, sending Senator flying off the apron, and into the barricade surrounding the ring. There’s another pop as Freeman slumps to the ground, taking a deep breath, and rolling towards the outside. Freeman stumbles towards the champion, and delivers a firm boot to the fallen veteran with his strong leg. He follows this up with a second boot, and then he looks to the crowd just over the blockade. They cheer fondly, hoping that their man can win his first ever World title. He smiles, but as he goes to throw in a third boot, Senator catches his foot, and Freeman’s eyes widen. Phillips manages to climb to his feet as he keep hold of Freeman’s strong foot, causing the challenger to hop on his weak leg, and the pain that he must be going through is expressed through his eyes, as Senator spins him into a Dragon Screw.
McNally: Another reversal! This time by Senator! This match is a real back-and-forth bout. Edison: It’s gonna go down to the wire, Max. But my money’s on the Senator. Freeman might win the title, but not tonight, Max. McNally: Well, we’ll see, Eddie.
Freeman falls backwards and knocks the back of his head against the steel steps, but it doesn’t seem to do too much damage as he’s still awake, and showing pain in his eyes. Senator approaches him, snarling as he shakes his head again. He grabs his head, carefully rolling him back into the ring, stopping the referee’s count. Phillips follows, and for good measure, places a firm knee into Freeman, who at this point is on all fours. This garners even more jeers from the crowd, but the two-time World champion could not care less. He takes it in his stride, as he lifts Freeman up and throws him ruthlessly into one of the turnbuckles. Phillips then begins to throw some quick jabs into his foe’s face, each one not only causing sharp pains, but also showing how little he respects Freeman. After about three or four, he takes a step back, and Freeman stumbles out of the corner, with that limp still intact. Phillips then hits off the ropes, going for a Washington Lariat, but Freeman is not yet out of this fight. As the outstretched arm approaches him, Freeman ducks and at the same time grabs the arm, locking the champion into a Sleep Hold. But he doesn’t stop there, quickly spinning Senator into a Giant Swing, cumulating in a Neckbreaker Drop landing, and there’s yet another large pop emanating throughout the arena, as Freeman lands yet another surprising reversal.
McNally: My word! Another reversal! How much more can this kid give?! Edison: I dunno, but I’m slowly beginning to think that choosing Senator to win may not have been such a good idea...
Freeman is flat on his back, but he’s able to muster up the strength to roll towards the ropes, and he slowly pulls himself up. There’s another large pop, however it’s not from activity from the ring.
McNally: Hang on, what the hell is HE doing here?!
The camera quickly pans across, to see Mr. Red rushing down towards the ring! The man who has held some beef with Senator over the past month runs around the squared circle, grabbing the champion’s belt, and taking the belt towards the apron, holding it close to Phillips’ face, as a charge of security hurry down the ramp, with their intent to get rid of the ambitious Red.
McNally: Mr. Red has no right in this match! If this fight is determined by such interference, then it would be a real shame! Edison: It’s alright, Max, it seems Gingerdude has got every security guard on this island chasing him! There he goes!!

Red drops the belt and jumps over the barricade and into the crowd, and Gingerdude’s security bumbles along, attempting to catch the perpetrator, as attention turns back to a rather confused ring. With Freeman and Senator glancing over at Red, and then back at each other, with a perplexed look on their faces. But they put that behind them when they get the right mindset, and look to grapple again. There’s pretty much no more solid gameplan that either wrestler have in mind now, as they lock in a hold. Freeman manages to shrug it off, pushing Phillips back, and he attempts a Dropkick. Senator though takes a step back, watching Freeman fall, and wastes no time in planting him with an elbow to the back. Freeman lets out a tiny wince, but still remains determined to defeat Senator. Both get back up, but now the World champion has the advantage, as he performs a Shining Capitol, quickly rolling Freeman over with an attempt to take the match:
1...
2...
Kick out again by Freeman!
McNally: Another great move by Senator! Edison: But another kick out by Freeman! Game on!
A cheer from the crowd is met by a reluctant sigh from Senator who looks over again at RAF, but is resigned to shaking his head and picking himself up. He lifts Freeman up, toe punting him in the stomach in order to double him over. He then darts off the ropes, looking for an old favourite, the Partisan Kick, but Freeman is able to sidestep the protruding foot. He then catches Senator by surprise with a turning elbow, which catches the champion right on the chin, not for the first time in the match. He almost falls, but he’s able to stop himself, landing on one knee. But this gives Freeman a great opportunity, and he wastes no time perfectly hitting the SHINING AXE KICK, cracking Phillips over the head!!!
McNally: FREEMAN’S GOT IT!! FREEMAN’S GOT IT!!! Edison: DO IT FREEMAN! PIN HIM! WIN THE TITLE!!!!
...But unfortunately for Freeman, Senator proves to be one step ahead. At least, this time round, and he is able to roll out of the ring, albeit purely as a result of the impact, but at the same time avoiding what could well have been a successful cover. And this aggravates Freeman, but not as much as his thigh injury is troubling him. As unfortunately, to hit the Shining Axe Kick, he was forced to use his injured leg, which is now causing him major distress, as he rolls on the ground, clutching the damaged area. RAF looks concerned, as he kneels down, asking Freeman on whether or not he wants to continue. Yet with a resounding nod of the head, Freeman agrees to go until the bell is rung, and the crowd cheer him on.
McNally: That’s the sign of a man who really wants the title. Edison: I’m pretty sure that if he was losing limbs, he’d still go on.
Senator meanwhile is making the most of the situation. With RAF seeing his duty to check up on Freeman, he was unable to start a count, giving the champion some valuable few seconds to recover from the Shining Axe Kick, and he uses it wisely, propping himself up in a seated position with the aid of the nearby steel steps. He then pushes himself up, and slides back into the ring, as Freeman also climbs to his feet, albeit in a rather weakened stature. The duo meet together in the ring, and Senator throws a punch – Freeman blocks it, and throws one of his own, knocking Phillips back a couple of steps. He attempts a second punch, but the World champion blocks it this time, and tries an Irish Whip. It doesn’t really work, as Freeman is unable to run, and he just stops, yet forcing the pressure on his leg doesn’t do him any favours, and he almost buckles under the force. Phillips then approaches him, hooking him around the waist. He lifts him up, but Freeman is able to avoid the German Suplex, landing on his back with great acrobatics. Perplexed Senator turns around, and Freeman boots him in the gut. He then throws Senator in between his legs, and hoists an arm into the air, to a huge pop from the crowd.
McNally: Oh my....THIS would surely end it! Edison: DDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNGEEEEERR-
Freeman lifts Senator up into a Crucifix Powerbomb hold, with full intent to plant the JOURNEY’S END, in what would surely end this match once and for all. He lifts his opponent up, but struggle to lift him over his shoulders, in true crucifix style, largely due to the injury in his thigh. This allows Senator to touch the ground with his feet, and with his arms still linked with Freeman’s, he’s able to work his way down, hooking Freeman’s neck, and with a swift motion, plants a monumental FILIBUSTER that uses every single bit of Phillips’ power and energy.
McNally: The Filibuster connects! Senator hits the Filibuster! Edison: That’s gotta be all! Surely now, it’s gotta be it.
Both crash to the ground, and the crowd goes silent as Senator is able to drape a single arm over his opponent’s body:
1...
2...
3!!!
The Senator rolls off Freeman, to a very disappointed crowd, as Philip makes the official announcement.
Philip: Here is your winner.....and STILL ACW World Heavyweight champion...Senator Steve Phillips!!

The champion is successful in defending his belt on Pay Per View, and he manages to pick himself up, as “Eye of the Tiger” plays in the background, much to the chagrin of the ACW crowd, many of whom are on their feet, ready to make their way to the exits. To the ones that stay, though, they’re certainly vocal, booing and jeering Steve Phillips as he grabs his belt with force from RAF, holding it up into the air. He makes his way across to the steel steps, but pauses along the way, looking at his fallen opponent, and shaking his head once more, before holding the belt over his head. Causing even more heat, Senator looks up, making his way towards the ropes and towards the ring ramp.
Edison: I always said it, Max. Not tonight.
The commentary is rather muted otherwise, as Jason Freeman is assisted to his feet by the referee, RAF. What remains of the crowd give the fallen hopeful a round of applause, showing appreciation to his gallant efforts. And despite ultimately falling short, Freeman knows that he gave Senator one hell of a fright, and he limps away with assistance, that thigh still causing him some grief, as he makes his way towards the ropes.
McNally: Well, it was so near, yet so far away for young Freeman there. And with that, comes the end of our broadcast Edison: Yep, we’ll be back next Thursday night with Meltdown. Be sure not to miss it!
As Freeman is applauded up the ramp, the camera begins to fade.
August has started with a bang... and from the explosion shall come fire.
The heat is rising... and it’s not going to stop before some people get burned.
Prepare for the Heatwave.
Fade to Black.
End of Show.
