Segment: Showdown (Credit: Freeman/Senator)
As the show continues on to the end, Senator Steve Phillips walks down the hallways of the ACW building, feeling bitterly disappointed after his match. He had been unable to come out on top, and the reason for that was Jason Freeman. He was sure that he was going to assault him during his match, but he hadn’t. It had distracted him all the same. It seemed that Freeman had after all done the right thing and stayed away. Good, for had he appeared here tonight he would have regretted it.
He gets closer to the locker room, bypassing the locked up Senatorial Office. He hopes to find Chris Phenomenal inside. They had left the ring at separate times so it was very possible he was already at the locker room. Phillips is none too pleased with Phenomenal’s performance. He had gotten pinned, and CP was unable to break it up. He would be sure that Phenomenal knows his dissatisfaction. He finally gets to the Senatorial locker room and opens the door.
He walks inside and can see instantly that there is nobody inside. It is completely deserted. He will have to wait until Phenomenal returns to berate him and unleash one of his famous Senatorial tirades on him. That’s when he hears the door close behind him.
*Click*
The sound of the door locking. Senator Phillips briefly thinks to himself, and instantly realizes what is going on. He whips around on a heel and, sure enough, there stands Jason Freeman in front of the door. His arms are crossed but the Senator can see that in one of them he holds a lead pipe. Freeman’s eyes are ice cold…the eyes that he had shown on a regular basis in prior months. This is the Freeman that was unleashed against Atomic Kitsune. The one that is dangerous to behold.
Freeman: Well…well…well. Steve Phillips. How nice of you to drop in…
And Phillips knows that whatever happens next, it is going to be very bad for at least one of the two participants....

Closing Segment: Trial by Combat (Credit: AK / ??)
Meawhile, out in the arena.....
With the crowd still chattering following the intense main event, the sound of “Ginger’s theme” blaring through the speakers brings all eyes to the stage. The chairman emerges, with a microphone in one hand, and something larger in the other; it is immediately recognisable as the ACW International Title belt.
Ginger walks briskly to the ring and enters, signalling for his music to be cut. He takes a quick look at the crowd, some of whom have been following the various debates online, and have some inkling of what’s about to happen. For many, though, the situation remains somewhat unclear. For them, all is about to be revealed.
Ginger: Ladies and Gentlemen, last week I announced that there would be an International Title defence at Seven Deadly Sins. In order for this to occur, we need a champion to defend the belt I hold in my hands.
He takes a breath, trying to gauge how his next announcement will be taken.
Ginger: I have been getting reports that, to our great relief here at ACW, Dave Shadow’s condition has tonight begun to show some improvement and I await further confirmation of this. However... last week I set a firm deadline for Mr. Shadow to physically stand here in this ring, before the end of tonight’s show, to prove that he is sufficiently fit to face a title match in five days’ time; this is the least that you, the ACW fans, deserve.
A mixed response comes from those gathered around him. Ginger continues.
Ginger: As will be evident to everyone, our main event has taken place.... which means that this edition of Warfare is now officially completed. Mr. Shadow has, unfortunately, been unable to comply with the terms set out, and we wish him a speedy further recovery until our regular programming recommences. Therefore...
Shouts are already arising from the crowd; some excited, some protesting on Shadow’s behalf.
Ginger: I am here to award the ACW International Championship, on behalf of the board, to someone who I know will give each and every fan here one heck of a show at Seven Deadly Sins. Please welcome your new Champion!
A moment passes between Ginger’s cue and the audio-visuals kicking in. The deep bassline is immediately recognisable.
There is a fracture in the fanbase as “I’m a Bomb” hits its stride. Some cheer, their judgement positive, their faith solid; others see only a sly manoeuvre toward gold, and shout their displeasure so as to be heard.
Alicia Laureano does not blame those who seek to censure her; she understands their point of view. But her mind is made up, her agreement given to the Chairman’s request, and she walks calmly toward the ring. She has a completely new version of her renowned Kitsune ring-wear, finally replaced after the loss of her originals along with the family home. The cut is a little longer, more in keeping with that of a lady stepping from youth to a more mature age and outlook. But the essence remains the same... both beauty and beast in one.
She enters the ring, and nods to Ginger. The crowd continues to respond, and Alicia does not wish to milk the occasion. He extends the belt toward her, she reaches out her hand to take it...

“Voodoo Child” by the Rouge Traders hits the speakers, much to the crowd’s amazement, as all heads in the arena, Alicia and Gingerdude’s included, spin round to look up towards the entrance ramp. Much to everyone’s amazement, two figures emerge through the curtain; Dave Shadow looks ragged and tired, being held up by his brother, but it is indeed the International Champion. Dave pushes away from his brother, Jay Tyler, who had been giving him physical support to get this far, Dave’s leg’s not quite working at 100% after his stay in hospital. Jay looks at him concerned, but Dave forces a smile and tells him to head backstage again. Dave thanks Jay before he leaves back through the curtain.
The camera cuts to Alicia and Gingerdude, both of whom have smiles on their faces. Dave’s smile has dissipated however. He starts making his way down to the ring, to a mixed crowd reaction, some glad to see him back again, others still remembering that he is a bit of an asshole, and a hit to the head is unlikely to change that. Dave makes his way slowly to the ring, and climbs up, having to haul himself in using the ropes. Alicia looks relieved, as she steps back into one of the corners. Gingerdude walks to the ropes and helps Dave in.
As soon as Dave is standing in the ring, he puts out his hand. As the music dies down, Gingerdude takes the belt and looks at it, reluctant about giving it back. Dave looks confused. He askes for the microphone off an aide at ringside, and as the crowd quietens down, he begins to talk after weeks of silence.....
Dave: Gingerdude...give me the title. Give me MY title.
Ginger: Dave, I don’t know....
Dave: You said that if I didn’t show up to tonight’s show, then I’d be stripped of the title. Well, here I am. I’ve lived up to my end of the deal. You live up to yours. Return my title.
Ginger: Dave, you’ve been in a coma for two weeks. You can’t be ready to just waltz back in to action.
Dave: I don’t care. I had until the end of the show to make my return, and since I see a red light on that camera, my guess is that we’re still broadcasting, and the show is still running.
Ginger looks round, and finally glances towards Alicia.
Alicia: Oh, give the man his title back, boss. A deal’s a deal, and Dave’s evidently decided to take you up on the offer.
Gingerdude shrugs, and hands the title belt back over to Dave. Dave snatches it back, pulling it in close to him like a mother being handed back a kidnapped child. He looks at it as tears fill his eyes. It’s back where it belongs.
Ginger: Dave, you’re still the champ then. But....and it’s a big but.....you still have to defend it at Seven Deadly Sins. If you don’t do that, I’ll have to take it back off you again.
Dave: Yeah. Fine.
Dave seems a bit distracted, refusing to take his eyes off the title that has just been returned to him. Gingerdude nods, before adding....
Ginger: Well, ladies and gentlemen, let’s hear it for the International Champion, DAVE SHADOW!
“Voodoo Child” starts to play again, as Alicia and Gingerdude slip out of the ring, leaving the champ alone. On her way out, Alicia drops her mic on the ring apron, and the two try and make a quiet exit. However, as they make their way up the ramp, Dave’s senses kick back in again.
Dave: WOAH! Hang on. Where are you two going?
The music dies down, as Gingerdude and Alicia turn back round to face Dave.
Dave: Now, Gingerdude said I have to defend this title belt, but he failed to specify against who.
Gingerdude still has his microphone in hand, and replies....
Ginger: Well, the obvious choice, given the fact he won a shot earlier tonight, would be Jack Jefferson.
Dave: Listen, Ginger. I respect that he’s got a shot. And he will get the shot. In time. But he’s not who I want to face at Seven Deadly Sins. I want my first title defence to be against.....Alicia Laureano.
The crowd are shocked but cheer at what Dave has just said. Alicia shakes her head, looking confused, and then realises that Dave is serious. She heads back down the ramp and climbs into the ring, picking her mic back up in the process.
Alicia: Look, Dave. I know what this is all about; all I can say is what I’ve been saying ever since you were attacked. I had nothing whatsoever to do with it. And as for your title, I only agreed to get involved if you weren’t in a condition to resume your role as champion. I have no wish to get in the way of the claims of currently contracted ACW superstars.
Dave: Hey, listen. If that’s your story, then I’ve got no proof either way. I didn’t see who attacked me, since the coward came from behind and knocked me out cold with a single blow, and left half my brains on the walls backstage. It could have been you, and I’d be lying if I said the evidence didn’t stack up against you. You’ve got motive and the power to instigate what happened. But it could have been anyone, ‘cause without a witness, I don’t know. But that’s not why I want to face you. Two and a half weeks ago, I issued a challenge to you for a match. What? You think that the attack changes that? I still want you one on one, and by the looks of it, you’re all dressed up and ready to go. SO yeah, I want to find who attacked me. I want to find the bastard.....or bitch...who thought they could get away with nearly ending my career. But in the mean time, I want to beat the hell out of you.
Alicia looks at Dave askance, and then at the camera with a “Can you believe this guy?” expression.
Alicia: Ok, this is all getting beyond a joke. If I run over and peek behind the backdrop curtain, will I find Freeman channelling his particular brand of twaddle into your brain? I know you’ve been out of things, but even so, you know how many young, hungry and talented people there are in this organisation, who would all love to take you on. Why on earth would I want to put myself at risk in that ring, just so you can satisfy whatever bizarre grudge is motivating you?
She looks him dead in the eye.
Alicia: I can’t prove that I didn’t attack you, Shadow... but let me tell you this. If I had so chosen, I would have made sure you saw me, as clear as we’re seeing one another now, right before your head went into that wall. I may not seek out combat, but I won’t run from it, either.
Dave: Yeah, right....
Alicia and Dave put down the microphones, and start saying stuff the crowd can’t hear. They have some few choice words for each other though, as the camera picks up their bickering. Finally, Alicia puts the mic back up to her face.
Alicia: All right, we’re all getting older by the second here. There’s no way I’m going to dissuade you from this, is there?
Dave: ‘Fraid not.
Alicia nods, and looks around at the crowd before turning back to Shadow.
Alicia: Very well. I get the feeling that quite a few people here would like to see me put you in your place... so I’m going to do just that. You want proof that I didn’t attack you, Dave? Then I’ll give it to you, beyond a “Shadow” of a doubt, by letting you experience exactly what a full-throttle Kitsune attack feels like! And if that means taking your title as a by-product, that’s just tough luck for you.
His eyes lighting up at the prospect of this first time ever match, Gingerdude gets back over the intercom quickly before anyone can change their mind.
Ginger: Well then, it’s official. At Seven Deadly Sins, it will be Alicia Kitsune and Dave Shadow, one on one for the International Championship!
The crowd cheer, as Dave and Alicia stand in the ring, toe to toe. Dave looks haggard, still not fully recovered but a big smile stretches across his face. He has gotten his wish; in less than a week, Dave will engage Alicia in what will be his biggest match ever.
Fade to bla-
Wait, hold that thought. Unbeknownst to those in the arena, tonight’s most dramatic events are unfolding backstage, and they will send shockwaves through the federation...

True Closing Segment: Showdown, Part 2 (Credit: Freeman/Senator)
There’s silence, as the two men stare each other down. The Senator quickly notices that Freeman is holding a lead pipe in one hand. His intentions are clear. This is a revenge trip. He has got him in this room alone and no matter what, one of them is going to have to fall. Freeman’s eyes seem to burn with intensity. Phillips does not allow himself to worry, however. Freeman has made many mistakes because of his anger before, and the Senator intends to catch him with one and make him pay. He could best him in a fight, and he would make sure that as soon as Freeman attacks, he would end up back on the floor. He has a feeling, however, that Freeman is not going to just attack him right off the bat. No, that wouldn’t be his style. There was some speech in store for him. And while he kept Freeman talking he would be waiting for HIS opportunity to strike.
Freeman, however, looks at his prey in front of him like a cat. This is the man who looked down on him. The man who disrespected him. The man who attacked him after a three on one assault on Thursday. The man who left him lying on the floor. And now it’s time to make him pay.
Freeman: Well, then, why don’t you get yourself comfortable.
The Senator makes no move, and neither does Freeman. The two stand facing each other.
Senator: Well, I must say that I am quite surprised that you showed up here tonight. I thought you were too much of an erratic idiot to make your appearances, but I suppose even I am incorrect on occasion.
Freeman: Indeed. My apologies for missing the main event.
Senator: My wish was that you would have had the good sense to keep from polluting the Arena with your foul presence tonight, but alas, that was not to be.
Another silence, as Freeman regards the Senator, still standing in front of that door. Only one man is going to be leaving this room on their feet today, and until then, the door is going to remain closed.
Senator: We know you brought that pipe here as your equalizer, considering the events of last Meltdown. Let this be clear, I did not intend to cripple you for good at that event. I made sure to leave just enough so you could recover for the title bout. This time, however, I will not allow you to get up. You will not make it to Seven Deadly Sins at all. How fitting that your own deadly sin, pride, shall be your downfall.
A tense moment as the two meet eyes once more. Throughout the Senator’s speech, Freeman’s eyes have not changed. He has still regarded Phillips with those cold eyes.
Freeman: No, that’s not how this is going to happen at all. You see, Phillips, I think you’ve made a grave mistake throughout this past month. It seems that because these fans have cheered me following my match at Omega Effect, many people, including you, believe that I’m some different person. A different man than I was before. Well, you see, that’s not exactly true. While I have been able to mostly keep my anger in check over the past month, you have really pushed that. It came to the point where I decided, what was the point? Why even bother? Why should I attempt to go about things honorably, and to just worry about our match, when you could not be content to do that yourself? You see, Phillips, I’ve said it before, you are corrupt and manipulative. You are sly and despicable. However, as I also admitted, so am I.
Senator: So what are you saying now? Are you telling me the blatantly obvious fact that my attack on Meltdown enraged you enough to bring you here tonight? I prefer not to waste my time listening to such repetitive drivel. As for SDS, I am a honorable, true champion. I will defend this belt to the best of my ability, and as such, you cannot possibly hope to defeat me in a fair one on one contest!
Freeman: Please, Phillips. I can’t stand somebody who pretends to be something they’re not. I can’t stand somebody who refuses to accept themselves. You have done some very interesting things this month. You have paid off ACW officials. Makabe was under your control, and allowed you to steal a victory against me. You have even paid Charlotte to conduct your own special interviews. You have attempted to get me taken out of the title match at Seven Deadly Sins, and then you tried to terminate my contract. You also had your worthless cronies sneak in on me while I was training. You had them assault me, and then when I had been taken down by a three on one assault – only THEN – did you make your way to finish me off. You have fought with no semblance of dignity at all. Any ends to justify the means. That sounds very much like myself and the thing is, Phillips, that if that’s the game you want to play, I am more than capable of playing it. You'll find that Chris Phenomenal and the Capitalists shall not be here for quite a while. I managed to take a page out of your own playbook. Chloe Roberts you will find, does not discriminate. My money's as good as yours, and your cronies are currently en route to Ginger's office as they have all been told they are expected there. I tried to resist…tried to focus on the match instead of revenge. After all it was anger that has caused me to lose control in the past. But the thing is, I liked that loss of control. Now then, you chose the game. You chose the rules. Now it’s time for ME to play.
Senator: Ah, so we have arrived at this point, have we not? You are the same old Jason Freeman who played second, nay, third fiddle to me in the Stable, the same Jason Freeman who spent years dwelling in the first half of the card, the same Jason Freeman who must rely on others to make himself stand out. You have not changed one iota, no matter what the crowd says or does. One single match, and they flock to your side as a horde of crows flies into a turbine, as irritating as that is, you have to realize that when I defeat you, the fans will go away, and you will be no different than you were when this all started.
Freeman: And I never claimed to be.
Senator: Pray tell me then, what is your plan? This is the best you could come up with? You hide like a pathetic weasel in my office, crouching in the corner with a lead pipe, but of course, you cannot do the sensible thing and strike me down without warning. No, you feel the compulsory need to lock me in here, look me in the eye, and put me to sleep with yet another of your incomprehensibly mind-numbing rants! That is hardly a spectacular plan, even if it does fit your overly dramatic aspirations.
Freeman regards Phillips with his cold eyes. If the Senator’s accusations are hitting their mark, Freeman shows no sign of it. In fact, no emotion has been shown by either man. Neither man wants to give their opponent the satisfaction of having affected them, and so the battle of words continues. Just the two of them in one room, nobody interrupting them now.

Freeman: Is that how you see this?
Senator: Yes, Freeman, for you have an insatiable lust for the dramatic. You feel the need to become more important than you really are, to build yourself up beyond your miniscule, absent personal presence. Nobody pays attention to Jason Freeman, nobody takes him seriously, nobody heeds his words, nor do they fear his threats, and thus, you take your legacy of Napoleon and you try to inflate yourself with theatrics.
Freeman: I don’t need dramatics to feel powerful. On Sunday I will be the champion, and that will be all the proof I need.
Senator: Did you not hear me, your words mean nothing to me. You can claim the title with your speech, but your deeds shall not prove strong enough. Now, I have wasted more than enough of my valuable time here tonight, if you want a fight, then let us fight!
Freeman: Not just yet, Phillips, I don’t think you fully grasp the situation you’re in.
Senator: Well, then explain it to me.
Freeman sighs to himself, and turns his back to the Senator, facing the door. Phillips considers jumping him right now and grabbing the pipe, and taking him out. Yet he doesn’t. He wants to hear what Freeman has to say, finding this whole situation slightly amusing.
Freeman: As I told you. I am playing by your rules now. I shall no longer allow you to walk all over me. I am not going to hold back any anger. Don’t you remember the things I have done? Have you honestly forgotten so quickly? When I was angry at Atomic Kitsune I got my revenge in the best way possible. I suckered her into a situation she didn’t even know she was in. She thought she could face me one on one. She thought she could come to that ring for a contract signing and she would be safe. That she could handle herself.
He continues talking with his back to Senator, seemingly remembering this day.
Freeman: But she had underestimated me. So have you. You are cunning and manipulative, but I am more so. For every step you would go, I will go farther. You see, you picked a bad game to play against me, because when you play this game against me you lose. You have done something that angers me greatly. You and these fans have one thing in common. You have all forgotten who I am. I will not have that! I have not forgotten what I am, and neither shall you. I shall make sure of it. AK knows firsthand what I am capable of.
Senator: Please. Miss Kitsune could have easily disposed of you on her worst day! You just happened to be lucky enough to take her off guard a few times and yet, you were still defeated in the end. She knew how to persevere, she knew how to win the war, even while you tried to buy your own private army to handle one of the individual battles and to invade her home front to lower morale. Too bad, like all the rest of your failed assaults, that one ended in ignominious defeat as well!
Freeman shakes his head to himself, and turns his head slowly
Freeman: You fool. I don’t think you’ve realized the point of this story. As I told you I am more cunning than you will ever be. I tricked her into a situation that she was unable to best. She was unprepared and taken by surprise. Perhaps such tactics do not appeal to you? Well, you employed them first. I however, am a master. And now I again say that you do not fully grasp this situation.
Senator: I fail to see how that applies to now. Yes, you have the door trapped, yes, you have the pipe, but I still think the odds are in my favor, even after my match. One on one, even spotting you a weapon, you will not come out in better shape from this...
Freeman: Now when did I ever say that the two of us are alone?

A momentary silence…and then Phillips realizes in an instant.
How was he so stupid? He spins around and as he does so he sees men dressed in all black – that same security force – bursting out from the adjoining door to the Senatorial Office. Phillips sees it coming too late, and before he can even throw a punch, ten men are upon him. Phillips struggles wildly drawing upon his fighting instincts, throwing elbows and knees, but even he cannot fight off ten men, even if they are not wrestlers. One does fall to a huge elbow, but then Senator is taken to the ground, and punches rain down upon him. Freeman watches this with eyes wide with a crazed fury.
Freeman: YES, THAT’S RIGHT! TAKE HIM DOWN BUT YOU LEAVE THE FINISH TO ME! HIT HIM HARDER! HARDER!
Phillips struggles madly, but the beatdown continues. Now a knocking comes at the door, it is the Capitalists and Chris Phenomenal, who had rushed back after realizing that Ginger did not want them at all. Hearing the sounds from inside they fear the worst.
Kalb: Boss?!
And then the voice that none of them want to hear from the other side.
Freeman: I’m sorry, Phillips is unable to talk right now, but perhaps you should leave a message!!!
The banging grows harder, and while this door is sturdy, they intend to break it down. Freeman realizes he does not have much time, but he won’t need it.
Freeman: ENOUGH! BRING HIM TO HIS KNEES!
Senator: Face me yourself you…urk…you facetious imbecile!
And the security grab the Senator and pull him up. There is blood on his face, and his eyes are full of hate, but he has been too pummeled to fight back any longer. He meets the eyes of Freeman, who slowly bends down getting closer to the Senator’s face.
Freeman: This, Phillips, is why you do not mess with me. This is why you have made such a huge mistake. Now let me tell you how things are going to go down. After I leave you lying on the ground here, I will leave you just as you left me. And then we meet at Seven Deadly Sins, and this time it WILL be in the ring. If you even are able to make it to that pay-per-view I will be sure to take that title from your possession. Now, don’t you ever…forget who I am again.
Senator: Knock me out…before I have to endure…even more of your useless prattle…
And as the Senator suddenly snaps to life, and struggles once more, the lead pipe goes crashing down against his head, and the struggle ceases. Freeman’s eyes blaze with fury, and he raises the pipe again. The security force hold Senator up, and then Freeman brings the pipe up and smashes it into the Senator’ skull…once…twice…three times…FOUR times. Then one last fifth shot for good measure. Then Freeman backs up, takes his time, before running forward and nailing Phillips with a shining axe kick. The guards let go, and the Senator collapses forward onto his stomach, not moving at all. Jason Freeman has prevailed. The banging gets louder than ever from the door, and suddenly it barges open. The capitalists and Chris Phenomenal rush in…and all of them gasp at what they see. The Senator lies with his face to the mat, and standing over him is a cold looking Jason Freeman holding a pipe, surrounded by ten huge men. They know it’s useless, and as Freeman passes them as he calmly makes his way to the door, they don’t even bother to attempt to attack him. They are more concerned with tending to the man lying battered on the ground. The security leaves first, as Freeman pokes his face in one more time.
Freeman: When he awakes, remind him that I'll be seeing him on Saturday. He had better be ready.
And then Freeman closes the door, leaving the Capitalists and Phenomenal to tend to the fallen champion. Will Phillips be healthy in time for SDS? Will Freeman's ambush be the deciding moment in this feud? Purchase your order for Seven Deadly Sins with your local PPV provider to find out!
Fade to Black.
End of show.

Well, I feel that if you're going to ask for people to do feedback, you'd best be prepared to do some of your own...and as such, here's my first installment of: [glow=red,2,300]The Senator's Reading List[/glow] Basically, I'm going to list a number of segments and matches here that left an impression on me during the show, although the format will become much improved in future installments. ---
Lonesome, Crowded West – Part II Sunday, July 26th Ginko Lily Bar 1:00 AM
(Kaoru's got a knack for setting the athmosphere, this segment really showing that talent off really well)
Segment: No Rules. No Mercy. (Credit: Jay Zero, BK London)
(The ol' Capitalists have come quite a way from their origins as Fallout jobbers, haven't they?)
Match 3: Danny Caballero & Matt Ford vs. Andres Teherov & Kaoru Hanayama (Credit: Toast) (In a match with many quality matches, this one stands out, and does a solid job in introducing the four competitors to the ACW audience)
Summer Break 6/7 Chris Phenomenal: Chris Phenomenal
"With that Chris grabs his gun and clicks off the safety, Plaxico Burress be damned it needs to be ready to go at any time before heading to the door, ready for the end. " (Heh, I got a kick out of that one)
"Chasing Nightmares" Agent Amazing Rep (A facinating segment all around, I'm surely looking forward to seeing what happens next here, and who Agent Amazing will be going after.)
Match 8: The Senator and Jason Freeman vs. Dan White and Jake Steele (Credit: CP) (One heck of a main event here, this is pretty much CP's PPV warmup writing, I'm taking it. Definatly worth a good long read, CP's attention to detail in this contest is especially notable.)
Closing Segment: Trial by Combat (Credit: AK / ??) (It's an AK segment, you know you have to read it, especially with the surprise that was unveiled here)
Also, Freeman was on fire for this show, and his work in our joint segments was top notch.
