So, in 2007 I started University in Huddersfield. I don't know how it is in America but it seems different to here anyways. Most people move away from the city they grew up, or at least away from their family. I can't think of many people who ultimately chose to stay in Carlisle (the city I grew up in, at the border next to Scotland, NOT in Wales, which is what many people seem to assume), apart from the ones who weren't interested in going to university, or weren't destined for good things.
At the same time, there were a couple of storylines that I really wanted to do. The first would be a two month long story with Jonny Hughes. I would lose the first match, win a second on TV, and the final match would be at the November PPV. I can't remember the details but I think it was very much going to be an England vs. Wales setup. Unfortunately, at the university campus I was staying at, I had a monthly download limit of just 1gb. Basically I couldn't download music, watch youtube, go on sites with many pictures on because it would sap it up. Most months I was alright, but there were a few when I'd run out in mid-month or with a week to go.
What didn't help is that you also had to sign in to your account, and my friend got hold of my internet password, signing up and deciding to use up all my internet access in the first week of October. Now that's not really a nice thing to do, and even cornering him with salad cream (of which he has a pathological fear of) didn't make up for what he did. I mean not only did I not have internet access for ACW, but I didn't have access for my university course, which was a massive pain in the arse.
As a result, I declare all of my results from that period null and void on my win/loss records. I know that sounds like I'm clutching at straws or something like that, but it's like, if I had at least had the ability to write a segment or two per show and just lose like I was, I wouldn't mind. It was just the fact that I had utterly no access to the internet. So anyone who beat me in that period can consider it a legit win, but I just don't include them in anything like my win/loss records.
University was going spick and span; I was enjoying meeting a lot of new people, socialising, and being able to experience a new town, 120 miles away from home (120 miles is a lot, considering I think the whole of Great Britain is only about 500 miles long or something like that. I'm writing this on the train, so I can't exactly look it up right now). It was a whole lot of fun, and I've definitely not regretted it one bit.
ACW on the other hand was, in my opinion, suffering. Unlike 2005 and 2006, 2007 didn't have the Autumn rush of new members. I recall telling a few people that I felt not only that ACW could be dying, but that e-fedding as a whole might've. It was a slowly dying breed, and I didn't want ACW to be a part of that which was dying. We lost a good number of members around this part, including Wyvern, Starkweather, Shawn, Yoko and Kudo, and those five were all excellent writers. But I think it was easily the weakest period in ACW's history. It just felt like the roster was so thin, and PPV match numbers will accord for this.
I did have another trick or two up my sleeve, and slowly I was planning to return to ACW as an active wrestler. But my previous attempts at returning had all been pretty lacklustre. In fact three of my last four “returns” were not that well received, and therefore I wanted to do something emphatic for my return. I wanted to make a really big impact, make people remember it, and at the same time prove my weight in gold and stick to whatever I had planned.
I decided to change Dan's character somewhat, and introduce an alter ego, known as Black & White.
