NOTE - I WROTE THIS ENTRY ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO WHILST ON A TRAIN FROM COVENTRY TO NUNEATON. ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED FOLLOWING THIS IS SHEER COINCIDENCE/I AM NOTRADAMUS. FREEMAN WINS THE WORLD TITLE BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
So, as I did with The Untouchables, I'm going to dedicate this chapter to The Entourage, which held a very interesting story. I'm probably not the best man to talk about this chapter; Thunderkiss or Jay Zero had a much larger role in the stable, and as a result they will one day give a more detailed account of the stable. But it really was a stable which rocked ACW in what would be some tricky times ahead.
Basically, Thunderkiss approached me with the proposal to join a stable. I wasn't doing much at that point, so I agreed. It would happen around the Omega Effect 3 period, and would begin with Thunderkiss, XS3, me and one other person. I want to say that the fourth person is Zero, but forgive me if I'm wrong. The stable would be a wheeling and dealing, stylin' and profilin' type of stable, going out and having fun but in a (mostly) classy way type. It was very sex, drugs, and rock and roll, which is of course Thunderkiss' philosophy.
I wasn't in the stable for a great deal of time, but it was great fun to write for. Going to Las Vegas, hitting strip clubs, getting really wasted. I particularly remember a segment with Jay Zero and having to wheel him to hospital, which I found hilarious to write. From a wrestling standpoint, I was only really an associate. I had given up the on-screen role of commissioner, and I was writing to return to full-time action, but also to try and help make an impact with the stable.
It grew and grew in numbers. I brought Andrew Starr back with the aim of making Mestarruus a tag team within a stable again, even though there were no tag team titles around at that time. People like Danny Mainer and Alex Richmond (Rob again) were joining the stable, although eventually I was literally kicked out of the stable, because I felt I wasn't really contributing enough to the stable.
Now here comes the very interesting and controversial bit. A man who made no secret of disliking Thunderkiss, Starkweather, had recently won the World Title, then lost it and quit. He was talking to certain people about how he could see ACW slowly beginning to die. And it was dying because of Thunderkiss. I believe it was Hunter who told me about Starkweather's theory, but forgive me if I'm mistaken.
Anyways, he believed that Thunderkiss would eventually take over the fed from a non-mod perspective. He would get as many people as he could on his side, become the biggest fish there, and get people to write in his style. After all, the biggest dog in the yard normally becomes an influence for most people. He would then try to change the fed to how he saw fit, and with so many people on his side he would threaten to leave if he didn't get his way, and take everyone with him.
Now Starkweather may have had a point, but I didn't see Thunderkiss doing this. I mean I think that the way he just abandoned everyone to join the Senatorial Stable in early 2008 was completely out of order, since he basically was The Entourage and by leaving, he messed a lot of people over. But I didn't see him trying to make a group that would try and take over ACW from the inside. I mean the facts show that at the end of the day, he (rightfully) looks out for himself, even if that meant a complete overhaul of his character.
I do remember though that around this time, a former Entourage member and a current active member of the roster (who I shan't name, in case I get him in trouble) mentioned to me that there was a plan B, that if things weren't going their way (this was a couple of Entourage members, along with a couple of others in the fed at the time) then they were going to start their own fed. I think they even offered me a spot as moderator, but I declined. I'm loyal to ACW, and I'd gladly attempt to stomp out any threat of a mutiny or any attempt to steal members and create a new fed.
All this was happening around the late 2007 period, to put a timestamp on things. I mentioned how The Entourage came to end, when Thunderkiss left to join the Senatorial Stable, and that was the end of it. But for me, I was trying to manage a full time return and starting university at the same time. Could I pull it off?
