I honestly can't remember who brought up the idea to me to do an HWL/ACW tourney. It might have been BK or Rose. Regardless, the first thought I had when it was mentioned was... "that'll be fun." ACW has never... ever been a roleplaying fed. It's what I constantly fought for it not to become. So, I knew that ACW would be at a disadvantaged but at the same time I knew we had some great talent and even if we lost we'd put up a great fight. After some discussion we accepted and each side drew up their teams.
I can only speak from ACW's perspective and from a moderator point of view. ACW as a whole was interested in this. We liked the idea so much people requested a board to keep things organized. We started getting ready but little did I know other people had different ideas for this. As some of you know, either from experience or just reading other autobiographies, things got rough. Rose jumped to HWL, which wasn't really any surprise when you think about it, and brought along with him a few key members. To top it off ACW was... well for a nicer way to put it.. screwed over to holy hell. Most of the judges were biased against ACW and people were taking this way too seriously. RDK was cheated in getting a fair shot at winning his match. He put in a spectacular roleplay but was portrayed as a beaten, weak wrestler. People were jumping from ACW to HWL and basically badmouthing us for no good reason. What was once just pure fun turned into people trying to take out a personal vendetta of some sorts. Why? I don't know. It's an e-fed and this fed is not for everyone. If you come to a point where you hate an e-fed then you have more problems than ACW on your plate.
Morale across the board started to drop and people felt betrayed. A top moderator of ACW left and was still mod. People were wondering why. How could we let this happen? Well, I'll tell you why. I pushed to get rid of Rose, but we decided as a group to not do it. Rose hadn't done anything truly wrong. He didn't spoil storylines. He didn't try to stalk a member. All he did was participate in another fed. While I'm sure other members don't agree with that that was what we agreed to do. With all these troubles I even reached out to Kevin to call off the tourney. But he didn't want to since we had already invested time into it. I agreed and decided to keep going.
What most people don't know is that behind the scenes on our judges board people were trying to sway the votes. They were trying to change stuff from occuring how we agreed and it was becoming a huge issue. This escalated up to the finals. I believe this was a triple threat involving Ridley, Ak and another HWLer whose name escapes me. What went on caused a lot controversy. Ridley did his usual roleplay that was written well but mostly had nothing to do with his opponents. Why this was counted I'm not really sure. So, Atomic decided to write a roleplay that parodied Ridley.. to the exact detail. Now this normally wouldn't make a difference but if I remember there was an roleplay from an earlier match that parodied an ACW opponent. This had sparked a bit of controversy and everyone from HWL was basically like get over it. We did and moved on. Now, bring in Atomic's roleplay. It brought to light a lot of flaws to Ridley's style of writing, was funny, and probably was a bit of a retalliation. Ridley hated it. Rose hated it. Basically, they couldn't take their own medicine and this brought tons of problem. Though I feel this roleplay was very well done.
The tourney ended with Ridley winning and ACW globally losing more than just a tourney. We lost members, friendships, respect, and morale. It took us months to recover and as the title suggests I feel like it's our worst mistake as a fed. Sure, you can look back at when Bladeshadow spoiled a storyline or when Bob got banned but those didn't effect the fed as a whole. Those effected a select people. This was something that I feel effected everyone from the moderators to the newest member. It changed us and taught us a lesson as well.
