Despite being a tag team, Dalton (who was now Surion) and I hadn't really engaged in tag team combat. In fact I don't think we ever did a segment together. Regardless, we decided to go into the tag team division at the start of 2005. As Ragnarok's gimmick was one to become the final survivor, I saw it fit to try and arrange a tag team turmoil match to sort out a winner. I asked Hunter about it (who was the tag team champion along with his NPC brother Cage) and he said he wasn't sure, because he planned to drop the titles to G-Unit, and he didn't want them to lose the belts as soon as they'd won them.
I told him that I'd arrange the match so G-Unit won the match anyways. Unfortunately I let that slip to Bob, who was on the reform with the Nation of Awesomation. Now the NoA really was a fun stable, and it was sort of the epitome of the best OOC characters the fed had to offer at the time. If you look into the Social Board there's a sub-board with stuff like “ACW Lobby” and “ACW Racetrack”. At this time, those boards were really popular and the four people in the NoA (RDK, Bob, Amo, Kross) were all core figures in making those boards barmy, daft, and entertaining. I think once we lost all those members (each one slowly one by one), ACW lost an Out-Of-Character element that we never got back, probably not until last year.
Anyways, I rambled a bit there. Bob was on the reform, I think he made a topic where he made fun of his own record, which was like 4 wins and 12 defeats. So when he reformed with the NoA, he wanted to reverse that win/loss record. He made a bit of a fuss about the tag team turmoil match, saying that he wouldn't job. So I had to tell everyone that the match was calced, which angered a few people. It turned out that G-Unit won the tag turmoil match (including 9 teams) on calcs anyways, so everyone went home happy.
(I later found out that this month Mestarruus had beaten Hunter & Cage for the titles, but Hunter wrote the match as a DQ. Screw you, Hunter. )
In February, we asked G-Unit for a feud. They said yes, so long as we didn't win the titles. And the reason why? Because the very person who had complained about jobbing wanted G-Unit to drop the titles to his team the month after. Screw you, Bob.
But we had a pretty basic feud, which ended up in a weird sort of match at Bloody Valentine's. It was a steel octagon with a steel cage inside it, and the belt held above the steel cage. A bit of a clusterfuck, but I thought it was a decent idea at the time. People compared it to Hunter's “Hardcore Haven” match, which I felt was really harsh, since that was an abomination of a match. I wanted to write the match myself, especially as I'd just started writing matches a couple months before, but I was told I wasn't allowed and Wyvern was to write it. I was never Wyvern's best friend, but that story will be told a bit later on.
Anyways, after we lost to G-Unit, I was surprised to see that Surion had “broken” my ankle, finishing the tag team. Now I felt that I'd grown up a lot from my first couple of months in the fed, but I would always tease Dalton as being “DD (Daredevil) Lite”. It was only in jest, because it was the trend for a lot of things back then, like how Jake was BK Lite, or how Davey was Ridley Lite. Anyways, apparently Ridley had spoken to Dalton and was telling him that I was holding him town, that I was too immature to be in a team with him. Dalton got pretty angry and decided to end the team. I forgave him now, but at the time I thought it was really uncalled for. Dalton wanted into Pain Inc, I believe, and was pretty much willing to do anything to get in. I think in his own words (shoot me if I'm wrong), he said that at the time he pretty much “idolised Ridley”, and to this day regrets it, Thankfully there are no hard feelings between us, and we get on fine. (ps – screw you, Dalton )
