Guess where I was on Saturday night....
AtomicBess: Yep, I was at Genocide, bottom section, middle seat, and I got to see my girl FINALLY win the big one...without having it taken away on a stipulation!
I arrived late on Friday via. plane, and also had tickets to Fallout, which was interesting, too. I'll post more later.
Ghostface5: Nice job.
FalloutRules: OMFG!!!! You were at FALLOUT!!!!!!
IamUntouchable: Not to burst your bubble...but Genocide sucked, Welsh Dragon got screwed over...Hunter lost his title, though, so that should be worth something...
RontheMan316: BK should have won!
AffirmativeLatino: Congratulations, AB! That must have been awesome!
PredHeadCommander: Predator beat Holocaust! Must have been cool to have been there.
The Constituent: Genocide and the preceeding Fallout were both excellent productions, so I actually envy you on this one, Bess.
AtomicBess: Ok, more stuff...
When I arrived, I had a little problem with customs, so I was late getting to the hotel, which was in a nice area, thankfully, one of the few nice areas around there.
The ACW Arena is huge. No really, it's one of the largest buildings I've ever seen. They're building the new Fallout gym over on the place where that old 7-11 was, and they even are tunneling under the road to connect it to the Arena complex.
Fallout was the best Fallout ever...or perhaps that's just me saying that since I was there:) Really though, it never let up, and we saw three title changes. Goodfellas got cheered, even if that wasn't supposed to happen. Ben Drinkin's got a future ahead of him, trust me on that one. And Holocaust just about killed Wolf in the main event with that last Death Valley Bomb, it sounded like he spiked him through the mat, through the floor, and set off a bomb. Funny to see that they dark out the upper two decks on Fallout, and cram everyone into the bottom. You don't usually notice that on TV, due to the camera work and such.
Ok, as for Genocide, where do I start? They kept the fans far back outside on the way in, clearing out more space for the added rings later on, and I assume that affected the capacity of the lot to some degree, saw a bunch of buses around. Funny to see, that wasn't the case on Fallout. Ok, for the matches, Rawt vs. Vortex was cool, if only to see two guys who are probably going to be big someday. Daisy's stuff was amusing...until it resulted in that awful neck snapping. It was awesome seeing Gooey Garth back in action, but he lost to that arrogant Rattlesnake...something about him just rubs me the wrong way, too cocky or something.
Torak is SCARY in person. He's not a small man, and neither is Angelus. They're unstoppable, and I'd not want to meet either in a dark alley... Red/Nina/Jake was fast all the way to the end. The Iron Man match was looong...but seeing the weirdness of the Great KUDA in person made it well worth it. The Yakuza Kick looks even faster in person than it does on TV, it's just a flashing blur into someone's face.
Remember how I said Torak was huge in person...scratch that, Hitman's what I call huge. Or I'm just small:) Ultimate X was insane, RDK and Santiago need anger management, they seem to want to top each other every time they see the other person. That Gravedigger through the ring was "daaannngerrrouuuss" to steal a phrase.
I managed to get the draw to move outside, but it didn't seem all that bad to stay inside, as they were setting up a huge four sided projection array OVER the ring inside the Arena, and I assume the Alphatron was also utilized well. The outdoor constuction was quickly put together, but it was solidly constructed nevertheless. The match itself was incredible, but I'm tired now, and will simply say that AK winning was one of the most memorable moments of my life.
Managed to get a few autographs afterwards. Predator IS as arrogant in real life as he is on TV, and actually told me to "hush" when I approached him, bandaged and all before walking away(even if he did sign my program). I got autographs from Beau James, who wouldn't stop signing, even when a huge line started up and he was crowded, Tornado, Nina, Hitman, and Biff(who's not all that bad in person) all signed my program.
